Chickpea and carrot in curry sauce thing back down from Inverness tonight. Im a bit bored of the prawn thing which I find quite bland. Better flavours in this, even if the texture of chickpeas still weirds me out.

Friendly and active crew; status personal greetings (albeit first names, which I like less), top-ups and further drinks offered - and did doubles in the first round, too.

No pork breakfast menu to Tirana. The 'full British' not as good as the bacon and no beans version but ok.

Not a big fan of beans on a breakfast, particularly beans and egg within close proximity but that's just me.

There was some damage limitation thanks to the (to quote Alan Partridge) use of the sausage as a breakwater.

The above frightened me; thought they'd added beans into the normal full Heathrow breakfast, and I hate them so very much. Their ability to seep is just... no.

They do appear to be part of the Gatwick one, but I'm now wondering if for some reason the last morning flight I had from there (to Bordeaux, and operated by DAT) for some reason got their version of this. Because I don't think it had bacon, either.

I'm suspicious too after looking at the WTP thread which is basically identical with beans, no bacon and a Cumberland sausage as a breakwater.

Hopefully after brunchgate we won't be faced with bacongate in CE!

"Gluten free oat milk"

Regular milk is gluten free.
What's next, "fat free sugar?"

My mother has a lactose intolerance but equally is also a coeliac, so for her its very relevant and also very helpful.

Vegetarian afternoon tea

LHR to DUB vegetarian afternoon tea. All served from the trolly. Service a bit slow on the short flight. The crew member at the front of the trolley served food and the person at back served drinks so food was handed out before drinks and resulted in slow drinks service. Scone was warm and was stand out winner with the clotted cream.

the roasted carrot and chickpeas is really more like a chickpea salad with a few bits of roasted carrot to accommodate it. Personally I would have much preferred the other way round.
Had the chickpea and carrot thing today on the way back from MUC but no menus loaded and it was described by the crew as a "vegetable salad". Tasted fine but not very substantial. I was pleased that I had loaded up on pretzels and cold meats in the lounge.

The desert was excellent as usual.

LCY to GLA - Salmon and potato salad. The salmon was nice but the potato was so cold it was hard and gave you brain freeze

GLA to LHR - Lemon pepper chicken with egg and Parmesan, enjoyed it.

LHR - RAK 17/11 - a five day BAH.

I had the shepherds pie which was exactly as posted by Mrs W above. Mrs S had the curry which was also good. Crew were excellent and very proactive with the drinks. Full marks.

Got to RAK expecting a huge immigration queue and was faced with an empty hall.

From landing to having a beer in the hotel was exactly an hour. Very impressed. Sunny and 27c for most of the week and at less than 2 per TP its great value too!

The pumpkin curry LHR-SOF today, I have to say it was completely delicious. One of the best airline meals I’ve had in ages and for once, not cremated.

Unfortunately the crew lost it a little on the return SOF-LHR. It was a big CE cabin back to the exit rows. The meal service started at rows 1 and 5 simultaneously, the trolley being stationed at row 5 and doing that row rearwards, with rows 1 - 4 being hand run from the galley. 4F behind me got his special meal, the much-lauded chicken dinners were heading out of the galley at pace, and in 3F I was starting to think they would run out. Sadly there seemed to be a mix up and whilst 3AC got their trays, the food service from the galley then stopped. The trolley was dragged back into the galley from the rear, meaning that rows 5 - 13 had been served in the same timescale that the front 2.5 rows had, but 3DF and the rest of row 4 (save 4F) hadn’t received any food. At this point I went into annoyed meerkat mode and got the attention of the crew who finally clocked they had missed a front section of the cabin.

Of course, the chicken had long gone by this point, which was made worse by the gentleman in 1F loudly proselytising about it I had the truffle pasta which was alright, albeit nearly cold given the above issues.

On these big CE cabins I will not be choosing rows 3 and 4 again for this reason.
