Rewards Club at Kimpton Hotels Experience Thread 2019

This thread is about the experience in Hotels of the Kimpton Chain according to your Rewards Club Status. Usually this would include Kimpton Hotels as well. However, Rewards Club Spire Members receive additional amenities as Kimpton Hotels, which are listed in the Experience IHG Rewards Club section and include

Inner Circle Amenity (InnerCircle only)
Complimentary Chef's Taste7 (InnerCircle only)
Raid the Bar
$30 In-Room Spa Credit

In so far and to welcome Kimpton Hotels in the iHG forum, we have decided to have its own experience thread and also created a different template,

How to post

1. Do not use the "Reply with Review Button" but the regular one

2. Put the name of the hotel in the title of the post and the post

3. Use the following format by extracting it, ie by using "reply quoting", copying the content into memory, then backing out of "reply quoting" and then pasting the copied content into a new post. Each line is formatted so that you can paste in between them having deleted these opening comments:

I will not deleted any of these during this year.

WIth this approach I hope to get a balance between the reqeust to have also older post in this thread and those requesting only to have newer up-to-date posts.

No

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
King sized. No upgrade.

How are the rooms?
Small but lovely. Well-appointed typical of the Kimpton brand. Great bed, quiet room with good sound-insulation as you couldn't hear much from the outside. Could hear other guests through the hallways though, but that's to be expected as folks are excited by Times Square and NYC.

How was your complimentary welcome amenity?
Didn't exist. They claimed as I booked at 8am that I wasn't eligible for a welcome amenity when I called at 10pm coming back from a work dinner asking about its status. The front desk manager said at 10pm she could send up a bottle of wine. I said no. A bottle of water and a card would've been nice instead of the $10 bottles of Fiji they had.

A Kit Kat. And it was lovely.

Were you offered a Chef's Taste at Dinner, If so, what did you receive?
Not offered.

Did you use the free spa credit / did the hotel participate? If so, was it a good value?
Not offered.

What was good and what was bad?
The room was great, but at twice the price of a Holiday Inn Express two blocks away, this literally had no benefit to me. Oh--and they also charged a $25 amenity fee (plus tax), which they weren't supposed to do for Inner Circle members.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes (and I've stayed there many times)

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked Monte Carlo Premier, upgraded to Robert Mills Suite

How are the rooms? A good deal of furniture. The hotel is a historic building, so wardrobes rather than closets. Sofa bed and wardrobe in living room, king size bed and desk in bedroom. Great bathrooms with dual vanity and wet room for shower and soaker tub.

[if you are Spire]
How was your complimentary welcome amenity? Bottle of sparking wine, 3 local beers, cheese plate with candied fruit and two cupcakes from local shop

Did you raid the minibar? If so, what did you take? Grabbed a sparkling water

Were you offered a Chef's Taste at Dinner, If so, what did you receive? N/A

Did you use the free spa credit / did the hotel participate? If so, was it a good value? N/A - No spa.

What was good and what was bad? Historic building makes it tough for anyone with a disability. Some complain about the 1st floor rooms as they are below the sidewalk. Personally, I've always enjoyed my stays and the location is great.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Can be very reasonable when DC is quiet but can also be very expensive (even more so than the IC Willard). I will return.
