Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a deluxe king suite, got upgraded to an oceanview deluxe king suite (oceanfront was $100 extra, but declined)

How are the rooms?
Suite was of decent size, half length wall that divided living area and bedroom. Very large bathroom with huge soaking tub and separate shower.

Did you raid the minibar?
They provided welcome points and $10 minibar. Did not select items yet.

What was good and what was bad?
Very well run hotel and its oceanfront location + downtown makes it attractive. Absolutely AMAZING staff all around. More of a casual vibe, which is not what we are used to, but it works here. We have our dog (hence Kimpton being our choice) and he gets treated very well. Pretty nice courtyard with fire pits and s'mores in the evening...their resort fee also includes bikes, helmets, chairs, umbrellas, etc. The base rooms here seem very compact, and face the interior courtyard vs. external. Choose rooms well! Bar and lobby really feel comfortable...with foosball and ping pong available. Look forward to the next few days here.

Coffee downstairs as with most Kimptons (can request in room maker), but with the added hot chocolate bar with smashmellos (a hit with my partner) and other little treats. I feel like this hotel goes a bit above and beyond other Kimptons we have stayed at before.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Oceanview and oceanfront rooms here go for a high premium over entry level rooms. We took advantage of a TZOO deal for $209 refundable for the suite (no view), which includes breakfast ($14 pp per day). Oceanview/front rooms go for 300+. Would probably return in spring/summer weather or if needed in our Newport office.
