What is your Priority Club status? Spire Inner Circle
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Almost.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked regular King Room, upgrade to Spa Room but on a very low floor.
How are the rooms? Room was ok, had a fair amount of wasted space getting into the main room. Bathroom was very large. Overall, room didn't seem as big as the square footaged listed on the web site.
[If you are Spire]
How was your complimentary welcome amenity? They forgot to deliver it, and I had to call down when I got back around 8pm and bug them for it. Mixed fruit assortment (I have to edit my profile to say no blackberries, I've gotten blackberries at my last two properties), a generous pour of bourbon, two small glass bottled Diet Cokes and two bottles of Fred water. Only thing was the room didn't have a bottle opener, so when I went to drink the Diet Coke in the middle of the night, I couldn't open it.
Did you raid the minibar? If so, what did you take? M&M's, cashews, chocolate bar.
Were you offered a Chef's Taste at Dinner, If so, what did you receive? N/A
Did you use the free spa credit / did the hotel participate? If so, was it a good value? N/A
What was good and what was bad? The whole place was just a little bit off. You really couldn't set the thermostat, you could try and then it would say "centrally controlled" and do nothing. Not nearly enough common space on the first floor, I went to the wine hour at about 5:40, and couldn't get a seat and skipped it. Staff was perfunctory, especially the doormen - at most Kimpton properties they are very friendly, here they just sort of grunted. They forgot my amenity. All little things which made me question why I paid the price premium over the Westin or the Homewood Suites, both a few blocks away. On the plus side, the location was really good for taking the 28x bus to/from the airport, or to walk over to PNC Park or the Warhol Museum.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Paid stay, it was a bit pricey but there was a big national dance convention in town. I don't think I'd return given the price premium vs. other properties.
