Glover Park (DC)
Glover Park (DC)
What is your Priority Club status? Spire Inner Circle
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked King Premier, received King Premier. No suites in this property, the only other upgrade would have been to a Studio Kitchenette
How are the rooms? Room was large but a bit sparse. Windows leaked cold air in but easily countered by raising the heat a little more. .
[If you are Spire]
How was your complimentary welcome amenity? Small. Two large chocolate chip cookies, two cardboard cartons of generic water, and a bottle of red wine.
Did you raid the minibar? If so, what did you take? $10 equals one orange juice (Nantucket Nectars, a good brand) and one small package of cookies
Were you offered a Chef's Taste at Dinner, If so, what did you receive? N/A
Did you use the free spa credit / did the hotel participate? If so, was it a good value? N/A
What was good and what was bad? The Glover Park is in the middle of the spectrum of DC Kimptons, not as tiny as the Carlisle or the Topaz, but the rooms are not as nice as the Palomar or Donovan. Rooms are large for DC but very plain, no spa suite setups or anything like that. It is not on a Metro line, but it's only a $7+tip Lyft ride from either the Woodley Park or the Cleveland Park Red line. It is in a very pleasant neighborhood, with a variety of restaurant choices in the two blocks south of the hotel, although the Whole Foods has closed. The hotel restaurant is fine for one night's dinner, although I didn't use it this time.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Paid stay during Spring Break and the Cherry Blossom season, so it was pricey, but a fair value. The price is lower in part because it's not on the Metro. I typically stay here for 3-4 night stays because the cost savings becomes significant and I like the dining options. While there is no suite upgrade, the King Premiers are over 400 sf. For 1-2 nights, I prefer the Donovan or the Palomar, whichever is cheaper.
