Please post your Reward Club at Kimpton Hotels Experiences (2018)

Rewards Club at Kimpton Hotels Experience Thread 2018

This thread is about the experience in Hotels of the Kimpton Chain according to your Rewards Club Status. Usually this would include Kimpton Hotels as well. However, Rewards Club Spire Members receive additional amenities as Kimpton Hotels, which are listed in the Experience IHG Rewards Club section and include
  • Inner Circle Amenity
  • Complimentary Chef's Taste7
  • Raid the Bar
  • $30 In-Room Spa Credit

In so far and to welcome Kimpton Hotels in the iHG forum, we have decided to have its own experience thread and also created a different template,

A template for the post is provided in this post.

Regions

Asia
Canada
Central and South America

Europe
Middle East and Africa
Oceania

United States

There are also the following threads for additional information
Royal Ambassador Experience Thread 2018
Ambassador Experience Thread 2018

Please note

This thread is dedicated to the report of the experience and not so much about discussions about each individual hotel, which should be done in the hotel. One of the moderators will add the report to the overview in each thread, which is listed in regions.

How to post

1. Do not use the "Reply with Review Button" but the regular one

2. Put the name of the hotel in the title of the post and the post

3. Use the following format by extracting it, ie by using "reply quoting", copying the content into memory, then backing out of "reply quoting" and then pasting the copied content into a new post. Each line is formatted so that you can paste in between them having deleted these opening comments:

What is your Rewards Club status?

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

How are the rooms?

[If you are Spire]
How was your complimentary welcome amenity?

Did you raid the minibar? If so, what did you take?

Were you offered a Chef's Taste at Dinner, If so, what did you receive?

Did you use the free spa credit / did the hotel participate? If so, was it a good value?

What was good and what was bad?

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Kimpton Aertson Hotel (Nashville, TN)

Kimpton Aertson Hotel (Nashville, TN)

What is your Priority Club status?
Spire Inner Circle

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? King Executive / King Deluxe (Award) / King Executive. Upgraded to King Corner Balcony (no suites available for that weekend).

How are the rooms? Very fresh and spacious. Comfortable bed. Thermostat had a hard time maintaining temperature (it was in the low 20s outside) with all of the glass floor-to-ceiling windows. Didn't really make use of the balcony other than to chill my waters and sodas. Some street noise (lots of ambulances due to nearby hospital)

[If you are Spire]
How was your complimentary welcome amenity? Pretty mediocre. A single plate-sized cookie and two truffles with a bottle of Pellegrino from the mini-bar. They did give me a bouquet of balloons for my birthday, though.

Did you raid the minibar? If so, what did you take? Yes - Righteous Felon Beef Jerky ($10)

Were you offered a Chef's Taste at Dinner, If so, what did you receive? No. We did have regular breakfast at Henley one weekday morning at it was ok.

Did you use the free spa credit / did the hotel participate? If so, was it a good value? No / Hotel does offer spa services.

What was good and what was bad?

Good - Friendly staff, fresh decor, good selections of beverages and canapes during Wine Hour. Walking distance of Hattie B's (hot fried chicken).

Bad - Mediocre amenity, some road noise. Not walking distance to The Gulch and touristy areas.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Moderate value at $250/night. I'm not planning to visit Nashville again, but if I do, I might look at the Indigo.

Spire Inner Circle

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? King Deluxe / King Deluxe (IC Feee Night) Upgraded to King Skyline (no suites available for that weekend).

How are the rooms? Good amount of space. Great design. Nice view toward downtown but I don't think the hotel rooms in the building are high enough to see much of the actual "Skyline" of downtown.

[If you are Spire]
How was your complimentary welcome amenity? Spot on. My preferences are pretty basic, so that helps. I list plain M&Ms, pretzels and local craft beer. I got all of them. The beer was from Mantra in Franklin, TN, which I had never actually heard of before. It was a fine beer, not fantastic, but I keep my preference vague so I hopefully get random beers I wouldn't usually try, just like this. Side note... I was quite impressed with the Nashville beer scene. Yazoo, Jackalope and Little Harpeth were some of my favorites.

Did you raid the minibar? If so, what did you take? Yes - Bottle of red wine.

Were you offered a Chef's Taste at Dinner, If so, what did you receive? No. I've actually never attempted this benefit. I wish it was a little easier to use and didn't require announcing my status to a restaurant server.

Did you use the free spa credit / did the hotel participate? If so, was it a good value? No / Hotel does offer spa services.

What was good and what was bad?

Good - Friendly staff, walking distance of Hattie B's (hot fried chicken) and lots of decent food options. Lots of good wine hour options (wine, a local beer and even a bourbon option). Strolling Vanderbilt campus was enjoyable (very pretty). 100% agree with FlyinHawaiian about the location above, but I think it's a positive for others. While we enjoyed a couple hours there on Sunday afternoon, we had no desire to stay near lower Broad due to LV strip, Bourbon St-like feel. We went to the gulch as well (Nashville boot, a couple breweries, Third Man records) and after we walked past a methadone clinic and the rescue mission, we were glad we didn't stay down there either. I really thought Midtown was a great way to be NEAR the places you want to visit in Nashville, but not right in the middle of it.

Bad - We really enjoyed our stay and while we weren't blown away, I'm not sure I have anything negative.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Moderate value at $250/night. I'd definitely stay here again.

What is your Priority Club status? Spire Inner Circle

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Very much

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked a regular king, got an upgrade to a two-room suite.

How are the rooms? Suite was large with a very pleasant view of Thomas Circle. Bathroom was also large with a full walk-in shower and separate tub.

[If you are Spire]
How was your complimentary welcome amenity? Fruit and cheese plate, plated bag of popchips, two small Diet Cokes, and a large San Pelligrino. Pretty much exactly what I request.

Did you raid the minibar? If so, what did you take? Orange Juice (Nantucket, very good), and a package of Oreos

Were you offered a Chef's Taste at Dinner, If so, what did you receive? NA. I'm not a sushi fan. I walked 1.5 blocks away to a sandwich shop on Vermont Avenue and got carry-out.

Did you use the free spa credit / did the hotel participate? If so, was it a good value? Never use it.

What was good and what was bad? Nothing bad about the stay. Easy rideshare from Reagan, straight up 14th Street. Not particularly close to any Metro line, but that helps keep the price down. Very friendly staff. Lobby area is a little small. 24 hour CVS across the street.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Very good value for Washington as an IC. I have settled in on staying here for 1-2 night stays and the Glover Park for 3-4 night stays.

What is your Priority Club status? Spire Inner Circle

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Eh, good enough for one night. The place I usually stay at for work (the Eventi) was sold out due to hosting a conference, and the Ink48 is a little too far away from both our office in Koreatown and from LaGuardia by subway.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked a regular king, got an upgrade to King Premier, nominally a two-class upgrade. They weren't close to even half-full, however, so I was a little disappointed. Reminds me of the Allegro in Chicago which only upgrades to a larger room with a larger bathroom, but nothing more.

How are the rooms? Room was about 300 sf, extra 50 sf, a chair in the bedroom area and probably a slightly larger bathroom. 10th floor out of 19, so not super high. Hotel doesn't really have any views, however.

[If you are Spire]
How was your complimentary welcome amenity? Infield Single. Four lonely pieces of fruit, which was sad given how nice the fruit plate was at breakfast the next day. A bag of mixed nuts from the minibar, two large bottles of San Pelligrino.

Did you raid the minibar? If so, what did you take? No, used the $15 credit at the restaurant bar instead.

Were you offered a Chef's Taste at Dinner, If so, what did you receive? Forgot to ask. Had a sopressata flatbread and an Alphabet City Kolsch, bill came out to $37, but I had $20 credit from the room rate and $15 from the raid the bar.

Did you use the free spa credit / did the hotel participate? If so, was it a good value? Never use it.

What was good and what was bad? Nothing horrible, but nothing great.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Price was good, $191+tax including enough credits to cover dinner, but I'm not a fan of Times Square. The Eventi and the Ink48 are far superior, easily worth spending 10% more for an Inner Circle. I'd probably pick the CP TS over the Muse, all things being equal.
