Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

Any idea if they still serve breakfast on early morning (7.30) flights out of Amsterdam to Heathrow or will it be a better idea to stop by the lounge?

I think it will be warm ham & cheese or cheese & tomato croissant - so best eat somewhere else!

So I complained about the low quality food and lack
of champagne on a recent CHQ-LHR flight, along with being pitched against a passenger wanting our seats which I posted about separately. Here is the response:

I'm sorry to read about what happened, when you recently travelled with us from Chania. After reading through your comments, I understand why you're unhappy, and why you needed to let us know about this. I'd also like to thank you for your patience whilst we got back to you.

It's concerning to read about your experience at the check-in desk, and about the customer service you received from us. I agree that it is unacceptable for our staff to request that you offer your seats to another passenger, whilst in earshot of the passengers in question. Our staff are highly trained to be professional at all times, and from what you've told us, the situation was handled extremely poorly, and not what we would expect. Whilst this won't change what happened, I'd like to thank you for bringing this to our attention, and assure you that this will be fed back to the appropriate Management team, who will address this internally.

I can imagine that your frustrations were only compounded, when you found that there was an inadequate amount of catering in our Club Europe cabin. It's disappointing that you've found the meal has shrunk significantly, and that we ran out of champagne during the flight. We know that this isn't the premium service that you expect when you travel with us.

I’ve shared your feedback with my colleagues in our Catering team. I know that your feedback will make a difference, and I hope that you see a positive difference soon.

Once again, please accept our apologies for your experience on this trip. If I can help with anything else, please contact me directly using the blue link below.

Well, at least now we know BA doesn’t give a flying F. I won’t waste the time complaining again, but just go Aegean, even if it means another stop. Or even Ryanair TBH and buy every extra, including a comfort seat.

They have apologised, they have admitted that they got it wrong, and they have said that they will feed your complaint to management. If I complain about anything to any other company, I am satisfied with an apology and an assurance that they will deal with it. I don't understand why you think BA's response suggests that they don't care.

I am sorry but to be honest, if the OP was mistreated and had a bad experience; a verbal or written sorry might not always work. The OP has paid money to the airline and didn't got the service he should get in this case.

Also, it's the reality that airlines doesn't monitor the quality of outstation ground handling services ( except for major outstations ) and prefer this method because of cost-cutting measures and it's highly likely that BA would do nothing other than to pass the information to the outsourced ground service company that handles BA in Chania and they probably wouldn't take it seriously unless they issues continue regularly and they come to a point losing their contract with BA.

I am sorry but we need to look objective at these kinds of cases and omit the loyalty or the feelings that we feel towards an airline.

I was being objective, and I said that if I complained about something to another company, ie not an airline, I wouldn't expect compensation. I am one of those people who frequently takes time to send an email to a company when I have had particularly good or bad service, and in the case of bad service, I always make it clear that I just want to let them know and don't want any form of compensation. I just find it really grates this concept that every time something goes slightly wrong, companies are expected to put their hands in their pockets. But when a customer makes a mistake, companies are expected to bend over backwards to help them without charge.
