Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

Band 4 Rest of the day

Pleasue to meet jenecho this evening. Not quite sure we managed to put the world completely to rights during our flight, but we had a good go!

Nice to meet you KARFA and will add some pics from the return journey,
band 4 1st march ,2020, ba887 otp-lhr. Was meant to be leaving at 1610 although it left late and this was described as lunch.

it was better than I expected not having a love of wasabi- I think the prawn salad was probably more distinctive in that area

My second flight (BA 2613; NAP-LGW on 28/02/20). The Pumpkin Tortellini was delicious and I was name checked by the cabin crew throughout the flight.

LHR-ARN, Band 3, afternoon
For some odd reason the crackers had been replaced with a wine glass.

Beverage G&T service was the “Chuck the whole miniature into the glass, add a bit of tonic from an open can on the trolley, add a token lump of ice so it’s still lukewarm, and hand it to the customer. Don’t bother with nuts either”.

I have taken to asking for a "A glass of ice and lemon please, and please may I also have a Tanqueray and Tonic to mix in myself thanks"

ARN-LHR Band 3 Lunchtime

No menus handed out, presumably because the cold dish was AWOL. Choice for everyone was Chicken Curry or Vege Shepherds Pie.

Band 1 lunch, TXL-LHR.

Described as a "chicken salad with egg" I suppose to not frustrate the French? It seemed like a Nicoise but with caesar dressing? Wasn't great.

Looks pretty good to me - from the pic, at least. The starter looks very dry, though - how was it ?

AGP - LGW 01/03 rest of day meal

Sausages with mustard mash and cabbage. I wanted this to be good but it was just 'OK' - sausages had a rubbery texture and it was served tepid, which didn't help - although it all tasted pretty good. The starter and cheese didn't match the menu so I assume this was a spare tray from the outbound. Ice and lemon ran out halfway though the flight, CSM spent more time chatting to his off duty friends than providing any service.

I had the same meal today. The starter wasn't too dry, the couscous was reasonably moist and had some flavour through it, though not the world's most exciting dish.

Most of these look like really bad economy meals from some 20 or so years ago. I mean, I have nothing at all against bangers and mash, but the last series of posts just look plain bad. In fact, looking at this thread, nothing would induce me to book BA business for the food.

I don’t think many people are booking an intra Europe C ticket for the food. Apart from Turkish, Aegean and Austrian most of the other airlines are not offering something amazing. BA food has been improved. It is usually OK. In comparison this is what I got for LGW-LIS flight with TAP. Extremely poor compare to what BA offers.

I don't think any of us do that either. However, this thread is just for Club Europe, so it's short(ish) haul - and, while some of the meals aren't well presented, they often taste better than they look.
