Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

Gosh it all looks awfully white not a lot of green. Not good plate appeal at all!

HAM - LHR on an early afternoon flight.
It seems I am destined to always run into "Afternoon Tea" dishes on my recent flights.
Continued on to LBA and guess what, another "Afternoon Tea"...

AGP to LGW this week were giving out the small bottles for wine. Champagne was served from full size bottles. This may have been due to a rather thirsty crowd on the outbound from LGW and therefore they had to resort to small bottles on my return back to LGW, but I am only guessing.

Are miniature bottles used as backup stock for full size?

Small bottles of wine across all Bands. Only Champagne is served from a full bottle on Bands 3 and 4.

@andrikyo I asked, as you're offering different info to Karfa and Orbitmic. The original post from was referring to wine and not just champagne.

Wine used to be served from full size bottles in CE for a year or two, but that changed at some point, and now only champagne is served from full size bottles on longer routes, while wine is served in splits (choice of 2 reds and 2 whites) even on Band 3 and Band 4 flights.

I’m just wondering if other people have tried this ‘dish’ which appears at breakfast.

To find out what it is, I googled “seed gloup breakfast”. Is it a chia seed pudding?

To me, it looks like frogs’ spawn.

And I hope you brought floss or interdental brushes, because half of those seeds will end up in between your teeth.

Really? I'd say Gatwick catering needs to get a tad more inspirational with their menu rotations. Post #897 (plus various others around that point) show exactly the same menu rotation in operation in May 2019 for the inbound band 3-4.

I'd even hazard a guess that I've seen this exact menu rotation at least on 2 other inbound menu rotations and probably an equal number of outbound menu rotations in the past 12-18 months. They're not even trying to present the mains in a different order to create the illusion it's a different menu. They clearly just don't care

Meanwhile at LHR menus are rotated every 2 weeks both outbound and inbound, there's a fresher seasonally inspired menu which never see light of day at gatters - it's truly world's apart.

It is indeed chia seed pudding. That is how it should look and it is delicious. Give it a go next time.
Enjoy!

Athens to Heathrow. No menu, no choice. The 3 crew were slightly overwhelmed with the 16 rows of Club Europe, admitted to being tired when I chatted to them and did their best. Several Club passengers asked to purchase food from the BoB rather than have to eat the only food choice - fish pie. Aside from the China dish, this was a World Traveller meal basically. I probably won’t be fussed about sitting in Club Europe in future, to be honest. It’s not a premium cabin.

16 rows?! I thought the maximum was 14 on an A321 and 12 on an A320?

The fish dish referred to above is apparently grilled cod - the full menu is below. I must say this is one of the more disappointing CE meals. It’s basically just fish and sauce with a few peas floating in it, not substantial at all and needs some vegetables with it to give it some substance. Starter was a small salad, but they’ve now added a lot of dressing to the tray.

Express band dinner (AVML)

I think the winner between AVML and KSML (see here) is definitely the latter.
