Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

The only difference looks to be the starter pot.
My apologies. I don’t have as good a recall for photos and post numbers as you have.

No, but I agree it could look like one. One of the normal choices, the alternative main dish was the continental meat and cheese plate, which is nice enough, but I’ve had it numerous times on breakfast services, and I fancied something warm.

It was ok without being anything to shout about, though the runny poached egg was a bonus. The chia pudding dessert isn’t really my thing, I just had a spoon or two of the fruit compote. Brunch is a bit of an oddity in these services, but it was passable.

That'll be my cue to get out and socialise more then!

Invariably all menu components will rotate at some point or other and feature accross multiple bands (especially cold mains). It was only for the fact what you were describing seemed familiar and I thought you may appreciate the official menu description as you don't get those handed out on a ZAG.

Sorry again then 🙂 and thank you. I have been feeling a little sensitive recently so may have jumped the gun on my response.

Apology accepted. And no hatred or snarkiness directed I can assure you. Just geeky observation 😬

This past weekend I had the worst English Breakfast ever for BRU-LHR.
Apart from the fact that I remembered a bigger portion - but I can be mistaken, last I had was a long time ago - the eggs were so bad I didn't eat them, like powder eggs scrambled dry, and the sausage had some sort of aftertaste. Bacon and mushroom were adequate. I usually liked very much that breakfast, but this time... I really hope it was just one off.

Beat me to it – but I can confirm all three. The vada was served on a bed of coconut sambal (which is not easy to see in the picture).

Exactly the same as I witnessed last week on INV - LHR. I’m totally convinced the CE portions are back on the slide again. More penny pinching. I feel sorry for the staff.

I would say my most recent was the worst of the three I have pics of, smaller bacon and overcooked egg, but this could easily be a one off. Everything else very similar. Both portion and contents. For sure menus being handed out has been a lot less consistent for me recently.

Here’s three pics of mine.

Band 2 / LHR-BCN / October 2018

Band 3 / LHR-KEF / May 2019

Band 3 / LHR-MAD / November 2019

That particular breakfast is offered on flights that have night stopped, hence the cereal bar in place of the usual yogurt and the smaller tray. The larger trays should still be offered ex-LHR.

It really is a pathetic offering though.
I'm guessing for the most part, those who partake in the inbound mini breakfast will be oblivious as to how an outbound breakfast will vary.

LHR > DUB ( no night stop). Late Oct. veggie. I thought they could at least have added mushrooms. It was tiny.

INV > LHR (night stop). Mid Nov. Veggie again.

BA 771 ARN-LHR November 2019

November 2019
British Airways Club Europe
BA 771 Stockholm to Heathrow

Choice of Full English or Vegetarian omelette - I chose Omelet.
The crew chose to serve the starter tray with warmed pastries first and then the main course, which was definitely the preferred way of serving. There was plenty of time to carry out a more elaborate service.
