Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

I had the same chicken salad on the way back from MAN tonight, I found if you unwrap the lump of salad leaf by leaf it was actually OK. Especially with the black olive tapenade that was hidden all over the plate. The crew were very good, 35mn flight time and 9 mostly full rows of CE, they were quite rushed but they made it and kept a smile whilst doing it.

On another note (but not worthy of a full thread) we arrived at B gates and had to disembark by the rear doors. I finally had a bus at LHR just for group 1, but we were the last ones out

I've had the same offering featured this past summer on band 3/4 menus as the cold option. I would say perfect for an express or band 1/2. Somewhat miserly for a band 3/4 if you consider it's offered as the main on every flight from 40mins to 4hrs. The only additional on band 3/4 being the cheese plate.... Although like you I liked it, I'd just have appreciated slightly more of it.

Have had this before. Quite sufficient for a short flight. The lettuce remained untouched, I don't mind lettuce but not in one big clump on the plate.
Also not a fan of wedge salads in general. They seem quite common at steak restaurants but when I can be bothered to attack them at all they leave me wondering why I'm doing work that should have been done in the kitchen.

It was a last minute schedule change due to the cancellation of the INV LHR sector. BA very kindly put me on INV MAN LHR so I didn't have time to post my schedule here. Would have been great to meet!

They can be okay if they've been grilled/charred on the cut edges with a good dressing, but I can't see this really working in airline catering.

It's some chapati (nann bread) on the right with lentil/dahl to the left. In the middle is some cauliflowers sauteed in dry tikka masala (I think)

Worth mentioning explicitly that it is breakfast.
I had that on a LHR-LCA last month, as I knew I'd have a fry up in the lounge and fancied something brunchy for a long daytime flight. The curry was very tasty; would recommend.

Yellow Chicken Curry. Quite tasty. It was a B2B, see below, the cheeses were swapped between out and back. 12 rows of CE, the first drinks round was from a trolley. 6 rows on the way back, it was delivered on trays.

Smoked Salmon, very tasty, slightly on the small size portion-wise but the cold options usually are.
The tiramisu was nothing to write home about, but I'm a bit picky on those. Shame because I'm a fan of Do&Co's desserts usually.

Club Europe VS Business Premier

I had to go to Paris recently with less than 12 hours notice.
I had a choice of CE or Business Premier on the Eurostar.
In the end I decided with Eurostar as I live next to the station even though I would’ve preferred to bag the TPs.

As a point of reference, this is what a breakfast is like on the train. The main was really bland and lacked flavour and overall much prefer the CE offering.
