Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

Not sure about BA’s fascination with putting “stuff that most people haven’t heard of” on their menus. Shakshouka ? (other than to make the starter look like “semolina with jam”)
That is not like any shakshuka I have ever seen. Shakshuka itself is truly delicious. I make it often.

Meal repetition drives me batty. Thankfully I haven't had too much repetition with BA but recently with Lufthansa, I had the same exact meal on 4 consecutive flights. I rarely fly either airline so that was quite astounding.

Its mousseline-gate all over again. Except rather than Larousse, the menu intern has picked up an Ottolenghi book.

On short haul we have separate crew meals (somewhat lower quality than economy!) and we only trigger getting a crew meal on longer working days. 90% of flight on EuroFleet we don't get crew meals, and even when we do, we generally bring our own food as the crew meals are generally inedible!

Slightly different situation over at CityFlyer (these details are all for a complement of two flight crew and two cabin crew):
  • On the first sector of the day where report time is before 08:30, one CE hot breakfast, one CE hot vegetarian breakfast, two porridge pots and two fruit plates are loaded.
  • For lunch (on duty between 12:00 and 14:30) three of that week's CE hot meal rotation are loaded plus one vegetarian or vegan hot meal
  • For dinner (on duty between 18:00 and 21:00), same as lunch plus two CE desserts and two scones with jam and butter
"Duty" also includes any time between flights spent in the airport however most BACF trips are what mainline crews would know as fixed links (with 35 minute turns) and on most of our aircraft changes it's rare to have time to do more than visit the toilet or grab a coffee.

Previously lunch was a CE cold main in a plastic box but many crew found that this wasn't sufficiently filling unless you loaded up with bread.

Club meals are mostly round-trip catered from London, to the exact number of passengers as booked before the first sector departs. Some crew prefer to bring their own food so it's sometimes possible to rescue catering errors and late upgrades with a spare crew meal.

LGW-GIB offering today. Actually very tasty. Great crew, with drinks and bread being offered freely. 11 of us in club out of 12. Very quick and efficient service. One of my better CE flights.

New Band 3/4 ex Outstation Menu (16/10/2019)

Not a menu I recognise, although I’m sure I’ll be corrected with all three posted below. If not, I will post my choice later.

Here’s the lamb shank option. I had it coming back from Split a couple of weeks ago. It was tasty although didn’t contain a huge amount of lamb (which was fine to be honest as it was quite rich).

What did you go for?
