Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

After more googling: could it be vegan paratha which should be flaky. I know very little of Indian cuisine and I have never eaten paratha at least knowingly. So if someone else is having this meal I would be happy to know what this lovely meal was.
It does look like a tasty meal. The mash thing looks very interesting

Well just an update on my experience! Got to T5 and asked at check in for a voucher to be told that Club Europe was unaffected, and vouchers were only being handed out to economy travellers. That seemed a bit weird to me so I also asked at the customer service desk once I got airside only to be told the same thing, and that it wasn't necessary for me to get a voucher as Club Europe catering was unaffected.

Obviously then got on board to be presented with a meal consisting of a packet of crisps and a plastic wrapped muffin. Explained to the CSM it was a bit frustrating and was told he would "make a note of it".

we had the CSM instruct the CC to take the jam and cream from our try’s after they had been delivered because we weren’t to get scones unless having the sandwich instead of the ploughman’s! First time ever. LHR -DUB

Very tasty boeuf bourguignon on BA flight from Rome last week; not much plate appeal and broccoli has definitely been murdered in the oven

The same for EDI-LHR tomorrow morning. Didn't realise they had cut their catering out of EDI.
What are the chances of a few Avios for the loss of service on board. Not interested in wandering about the terminal looking for somewhere not overcrowded and serving something decent to eat just to use a voucher.

Looks like it’s meant to be Indian: Manchurian cauliflower (well, that bit’s Indian-Chinese), chickpea and potato curry and paratha or chapati on the right hand side. Doesn’t look like filo dough to me.
nordic likes this.

On my flight to Malaga on Sunday 8th they handed out the wrong menus!. Instead of the Welsh lamb/ Spinach gnocchi/ Smoked Salmon the available options were chicken curry or mezze rigatoni. I chose the chicken curry. My travelling companion didn't like either option so CC whispered conspiratorially that she had only one beef meal which she duly delivered after a short wait.

This will be because the aircraft has likely been parked at EDI since Sunday due to the pilot strikes. All shorthaul aircraft are return catered from their London base, but the maximum time for the catering to keep fresh and chilled onboard is overnight from an evening flight to a morning flight.

I find myself towards the back of CE for an upcoming afternoon tea slot band 2 flight (LHR), so avoiding the sandwiches is likely to prove difficult. Will any special meal satisfy my preference for avoiding the bread-fest? Have previously tried lacto-ovo veg (still sandwiches) and gluten-free (gluten-free sandwiches - even worse). Had been wondering about KSML, but seems from a post referenced in the Wiki that this is also sandwiches.

Anyone know what AVML would be on a band 2 afternoon tea departure? Anything else that would avoid sandwiches?

DBML used to be safe but recently that's been even more revolting sandwiches than the usual ones.

I had the ploughman's from DUB the other week, my jam and cream weren't confiscated and they happily offered me a scone. Sounds very bizarre.
