Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

Menus swapped yesterday. Here’s the ex-LHR Band 3/4 Rest of Day menu, my flight to Madrid.

I will post a photo of my choice shortly, if the WiFi is functioning! If not, when I land. It’s not a menu I have had before.

EDIT: To give an idea of Catering loads. Was 18 Curry, 3 Pasta and 1 Beef Salad. Don’t know if that’s common or not but seemed very Curry heavy.

Here's the same menu from June when it was last rotated complete with curry option incase you couldn't work it out. The provision/loading of options you mention would fit with my experience as all there was by the time they got to me was curry, curry or curry. To be fair it was mild, inoffensive and very saucy which as a complete curry-phobe made it edible and quite enjoyable.

And by deduction here is the same inbound rotation for band 3/4 complete with Lamb shank and mousseline option:

Unless something drastic happens within the next 2 weeks, my deduction is that the nasty potato risotto muck is due to make another appearance from mid September. SPML time....

Not that i've seen, they're a freshly baked product so there are variances from time to time. This one looks overbaked!

To be honest - Haute Cuisine it is not, BUT what is served is tasty and filling for me.I have to say that those who are not cheese fans may not be overjoyed when there is cheese at every course, but I love it. I'm tired of Curries popping up here there and everywhere - but then my student days are long behind me. Pasta is a devil to which I should command to get behind me. As I fall again under its spell, I know that it will be my behind where it goes.

Are they still serving the Canard-Duchaine? A great improvment IMO.

The scone I had last week looked bigger than that, so may have just been a one off?

Band 3 out-bound VGML breakfast

Slightly different from the previous version but even better and spicier. The bread? thing on the right-hand side was fluffy (filo?). I liked the previous type better. The cauliflower was now better with chili and the unidentified mash on the left hand side was delicious (potato, pea, chickpea?)

Limited food and beverage LHR-BHD 8 September

I’m flying in Club Europe on the 19:20 service to Belfast City tonight and just got a text saying there will be limited food and drink on board and to ask for a voucher at check in 😩.

Has anyone had this recently? I was just wondering how much the voucher would be for. Thanks!

The bread looks like a roti or naan. Filo is a pastry.

it's due to the aircraft spending the next few days parked at Belfast. Limited catering will be loaded, and no fresh food in either cabin.

Thanks, I didn’t know the word roti earlier and after googling I think the earlier type was roti but this was not naan. It had the same flaky consistence as croissant but it was flat. Probably not filo but something else.

After more googling: could it be vegan paratha which should be flaky. I know very little of Indian cuisine and I have never eaten paratha at least knowingly. So if someone else is having this meal I would be happy to know what this lovely meal was.
