Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

Is band 2 still breakfast then rest of day meal? Or has it reverted to the pre-Covid brunch / lunch / afternoon tea etc?

Have a return from Prague next week at 1830 and wondering if I can expect a hot meal.

Express and Band 1 is breakfast/brunch/lunch/afternoon tea/dinner, Bands 2-4 remain as breakfast and rest of the day.

Just flew BA462 to Madrid. Options were chicken pie, spinach pasta or sweet potato salad. I generally avoid pasta on planes because it’s over cooked (usually) and had had enough sweet potato this week, so went for the pie. As others have said, it looks like school dinners but was tasty.

seemed to have lots of champagne on board (or few people drinking it). There was a female crew member who seemed a bit clueless, but as she served me two glasses of champagne at one time I shan’t complain 😂

What – actually two glasses, each filled with champagne, put on your tray? How very odd. There used to be some lovely Gatwick crew that supplied the small bottles two, or even three at a time. But still only expecting each person to require the use of one glass.

I’d agree with those who have said that the pie is fairly nice. My starter salad consisted of three shreds of carrot which had fallen onto the tray, two slices of cucumber and a few small leaves. Shocking really!

Today’s lunch EDI-LHR Pumpkin and Rice salad, didn’t think I would see this again so soon. However got my wish from my previous comment on this dish, pieces of pumpkin were larger and there was less rice. Sweet was identified as trifle due to the piece of sponge therein, quite tasty but I could quite happily do without the DO&CO chocolate, a bit bitter for my taste. Mrs B had the cold chicken with what was described as a curry sauce not as orange coloured as the last time.
The ciabatta rolls on Cityflyer are probably tastier than the olive ones.

I must have been served by the same crew member on a recent flight to TFS 😄
Very interesting, but no complaints!

Unfortunately (and by no fault of the lovely crew member in question!) they did run out of Champagne and red wine half way across the Bay of Biscay. I know 12 rows of Club can be a challenge to properly cater for, but is there really no way to load an adequate supply of drinks for both sectors?

I know what to expect (and I’m not holding my breath for the return sector) so my expectations are managed, but I do feel for those less frequent flyers expecting a special treat from paying top dollar for a 4+hrs Club Europe flight.

there were only 7 rows on my flight and I didn’t see that many people drinking it - they certainly didn’t run out

Recent trip to ACE where I didn't take any photos, as they have all been posted before.

1) Outbound was an early start so had the 'full' english on the plane. Very tasty, even if the sausage did look like it was smaller than last time. Pax next to me in 1D spent a while scratching around under the scrambled egg (possibly looking for the bacon)

2) Return was a mid day departure and we had the shepherd's pie. Again very tasty, if a bit frayed looking around the edge. Didn't bother with the egg cup full of salad. Had a chat with a cabin crew member and I thing he was even happier than me to see that the sausages weren't making an appearance (apparently lots of complaints about them).

Shepherds pie on the TIA flight today. Other options were spinach gnocchi or a salad.

Same thing on my SOF-LHR flight. Was quite nice to be honest and so was the dessert in the decievingly shallow dish.
The superfood salad didn't look appetising when the man next to me got one.

Had the omelette rather than the bacon free full English for breakfast, and that was pretty tasteless.b

I had the cooked breakfast on yesterday’s BA854 to Prague. The sausage did seem small but was very nice nonetheless. The tomato was meh, but the mushrooms were good and the scrambled eggs surprisingly tasty given mass airline catering.

Bacon-gate obviously continuing …..

That Shepherd’s Pie is definitely shrinking. I’m sure it used to fill the dish more…
