Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

It depends on the length of flight.

Unless things have changed longer flights go straight from breakfast to rest of day (skipping brunch and afternoon tea).

Thanks - I literally had 2 forkfuls of the bland undercooked pasta, the salad leaves (after dousing them in dressing) and the raspberry off the pudding before giving up and and waiting to eat at hotel.

Had this served LHR-CPH today (14:10 flight). Was also under the impression we might get afternoon tea.

This was the VLML, but was the same as the onboard veggie option. Was glad to have ordered since there was only sausage and mash left by the tieme they reached our row - and that was with half of row 5 declining lunch.

Unlike nh1980, we didn't find this too bad. The pasta was certainly tastier than it looked.

LHR-CPH BA818 14:10. This was the AVML offered today. Green pumpkin curry. Was really quite tasty.

Yeah it seemed different for some reason. It was more like a stale gluten free roll rather than the usual Kosher one.

Possibly just my imagination but it didn't taste like the regular one you get in the KSMLs

I'm beginning to wonder if BA is serving any thing other than sausage and mash, and the rigatoni, in Club Europe at the moment. I don't think I've been offered anything other than that since about August. Bring back the chilli chicken and rice!

Yes, had that in both October and November too on the LHR-OSL route.

Quite pleased to have warm food back again.

Very tasty but just a little too much cous cous tbh. Cutting into the chicken sent some of it onto the tray. Dessert was quite tasty and better than the current bowl of cream that’s on the regular dishes IMO. The bread roll was meh!
Is that Couscous? It looks more like lentils as that’s too big for what is effectively semolina

My Dears. If you saw the filth being served by AA on their Caribbean routes -cold at that - you would never complain again. I promise you. It’s dreadful.

I think it’s Israeli couscous- which actually isn’t couscous! Definitely not lentils.

It looks like giant couscous - seen that in some lovely middle-eastern dishes. EDIT - yes as per karfa, it's Israeli couscous!

Yes thinking back I’m sure the label did say Israeli cous cous or something like that IIRC.

This was the first time I’ve actually seen the labels as normally the crew offer to unwrap them. I’m sure the crew wanted a laugh at watching me attempt to unwrap it as they looked quite disappointed when I pulled my house keys out, broke the seal and pulled all the packaging off in one go.

This looks more like a pulse than a grain. I love haricots blancs, flageolets, and chickpeas. I must try. Thanks all. I am not a fan of Semolina in any form. I’ve really preserved with Polenta and am nearly there. I was put off the texture when I was at school.

I think that is a general comment I would say that everyone treats in-flight meals in practically any class as a way to pass the time rather than a gastronomic experience then you will probably be less disappointed with the results.
