Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

I would say the chance of that happening is zero now or at any time in the future. BA had a good product with the mid-haul A321s wich they chose to downgrade to standard because they knew they would get away with it. On all those routes the local competition offers a much stronger product - MEA to Beirut, El-Al to Tel Aviv, Royal Jordanian to Amman and Egyptair to Cairo and yet BA still have a market share.

Band 3, BA771 ARN-LHR breakfast on December 27, 2021. The English breakfast was actually good. The other option was a vegetarian meal.

This was BA706 LHR-VIE - the aubergine and rigatoni option. The other option was bangers and mash, but I am a fan of aubergine and went with this. Dish was actually good - could of had a bit more aubergine, but that's nitpicking. The desert was also very nice. The salad was pathetic.

Is it really a premium meal though? It look about 5 cubes of aubergine, some cheap pasta and a tomato sauce. Cost must be less than Ł1 for that. It’s a student meal.

Yes, but someone individually placed those 3 shreds of carrot on top of the salad…that seems pretty ‘premium’ to me…

Current kosher meal for express and band 1. I am not really a fan, it’s basically a big pile of different meats. I may have to reconsider my religious affiliation in the air.

I really like this one, granted the Salmon above is the best, but I prefer this meat platter to the Chicken breast on giant cous cous.

They charge because they can. All Western airlines basically gave up on IST. You want to fly IST-LHR in the afternoon? Then BA is not your airline as they ceased this rotation and flight are limited to a single nightstoper.

Sorry for OT'ing...

This looks exactly like the domestic breakfast that used to be served or the Euro Traveller breakfast on the Athens to Heathrow flights before Buy on Board.

quite. The old CE breakfast used to have a fruit salad plate on the side. Plus 1 or 2 pastries from the basket rather than that sorry excuse for a croissant…

Afternoon tea on today’s BA 315 CDG-LHR
Crew did a fabulous job of serving and clearing away on a very short flight. By the time I was eating I only had a short time but was delighted with the food!

By the time the trolley got to us there were no vegetarian sandwiches left so they thoughtfully offered me a vegetarian salad from another meal plus the scone and cream and jam.

The beet(root) feta and quinoa salad was excellent. Then I did a taste test of (left to right) a Cornish scone vs a Devonshire scone. I think the Cornish approach makes it more like a cake topped with fruit and a subsequent layer of cream, and the Devon order more like a sandwich. I’m sure CornishSimon will hate me for saying this but I prefer the less sweet approach of the cream followed by jam…

That's not quite accutate as this week BA 677 is operating - and then it goes to one a day on Mondays Fridays and Wednesdays. Me, I'd sooner stay overnight and come back at BA's prices than pay TK's prices but that's just me and I pay my own fares
