Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

Dessert: fruit salad with dragon

Overall a very tasty and healthy meal that is a welcome change from the fat and sugar filled usual Club Meals.
I am extremely pleased that you enjoyed it. I am even more pleased that it was served to you rather than me. Sweet potato curry? I’ll stick to far and sugar and Champagne thanks.

LHR-WAW (Band 3)
Breakfast
July 2019

No menus. I asked whether the omelette had cheese and was told no, but sure enough it contained feta (and avocado).

The English breakfast had run out when I asked for it as an alternative (and I didn’t fancy the cold cuts plate).

The purser was most apologetic, double checked the menu notes and there was no mention of cheese - even in the allergens! He offered more pastries and a couple of yogurt pots from an unused cold cuts trays, as well as his crew breakfast (which I couldn't accept) - decent service recovery, and he said he’d make a note of the error in his flight report. I was called by customer relations a short while after the trip who explained that it was likely that the meal tray I received was a top-up tray delivered late to the aircraft, and wasn't the meal intended to be served per the menu.

WAW-LHR (Band 3)
Rest of the Day
July 2019

A very nice baked (although somewhat overcooked) vegetable risotto. The alternative was cod or a chicken salad. I’ve had the cod before which is also pleasant.

The starter of plain chopped tomato and mozzarella is completely pointless, the cheese and crackers continue to be decent and the dessert pot just passable.

Menus and bar service, followed by excellent service with regular top-ups despite at least ten virtually full rows of CE on an A321. They had only got one drip dish for teabags available, however.

For my review of the hotel that featured in this trip and scenes from Warsaw, see Hotel Review: InterContinental Warsaw

The bacon may have been crispy once, but not any more.

What is the fixation with mousseline? It just seems like a completely pointless thing.

LGW-TRN on Feb 8 (Band 2 afternoon tea). Opted for the selection of sandwiches in lieu of the ploughman's (always entertaining listening to the FA having to explain what a ploughman's is to non-British passengers). Expected the usual trio of triangular sandwiches, was more pleasantly surprised with a bit more variety this time around! Even a macaron for good measure.

The mains loaded will roughly be split as 60% Cod / 30% Veg / 10% terrine of the Club seating capacity. Therefore don't assume the terrine will still be available if you're sat further back than row 3. If it were me, I'd be ordering a Child Meal which consists of a hot breaded chicken breast main, mashed potatoes and vegetables. Portion sizes in my experience are also more generous than regular mains. The starter, cheese and pud pot will normally resemble the regular tray offering. This to me is one of the most disappointing menu offerings in recent years.

I really don't understand the reason behind these very seafood heavy menus. Starter and first main choice are a total write off for me as I cannot stand seafood. My other half loves seafood but even he admits that it's an acquired taste.

By all means have a seafood main meal choice, but a starter that you have no choice over should be something generic like a salad.

Component trade?
Seeing as he likes fish so much offer up your delicious salmon rillettes, line caught that very morning and delicately placed by a food artist in Crawley into a ramequin for his palette pleasure and taste fantastic for bowl of cheese that he wouldn't like anyway?

It's worth a go even if met with a look of disdain!

Well, he tolerates (or for the sake of a quiet life) me swapping the seafood filled sandwich on the afternoon tea so I suppose it isn't THAT big of an ask
