Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

Band 3 outbound vegan breakfast

This time the breakfast was an imitation of the full English breakfast with hashed potatos, mushroom, tomato and the yellow tastless thing looking like scrambled eggs. No idea what it was. Unfortunately, this was far worse than the previous Asian style spicy vegan breakfasts offered. Does any one know what the AVML breakfasts are like?

As a reply to the previous poster the champagne left in the bottle is thrown away. The previous vapa preventing the bubbles go away are regarded as an occupational health risk. So it is best to help the crew not to waste the good stuff. I wish they had smaller bottles even on longer CE flights.

Had the same on HEL - LHR a few days ago. I thought the curry was nice and had a decent kick to it. The celeriac salad was disgusting - what an odd choice to offer as a starter!

Doesn't look great.
Last couple of AVMLs at breakfast have been the same. Chickpeas in a spicy-ish tomato sauce, a sort of tikka'd cauliflower and some paratha/chapati quarters. Not as good as the AVML or Hindu rest-of-day meals but not a bad alternative if you don't eat meat/fish, or if, like me, you've had a fry up in GF and fancy something different for a brunchtime meal.

To me, this is a welcome change from the previous asian inspired vegan breakfast. I always wondered why they serve an asian dish as a vegan breakfast.

I do like curry. But not at 7AM.

The yellow scramble is tofu I believe.

Thanks. On shorter flights that does seem a waste doesn’t it?

My partner had it last week.
He said it was ok, a bit heavy and bland but certainly filling!

Yes but only under pre Do&Co catering.
Fruit salad starter, cold ham and cheddar cheese cubes main, KitKat mini desert. It may well have changed since then but should be along these lines.

Thanks. Does it look like last month’s ‘regular’ Shepherds pie?

I would offer a strong rebuttal on this, i quite often fly on routes that are still Gate Gourmet as well as Do&co, the quality is noticeable on Do&co routes, there are some odd flavor combinations from time to time but the quality is always higher

I would agree, I flew a non Do&Co route last month and was shocked by how much worse the food was.

Does anyone know what sorts of dishes they serve as the AVML meal for ex-LHR Band 1 brunch?

From a MAD-LHR trip in the last week, I'm guessing 'celeriac salad with Gran Moravia cheese'?

Edit: it looks like earlier posts suggested this as well...

Someone in the row in front of me chose it a day or so ago. In the interests of this thread, I tried to get a look but, although it looked similar, I couldn't tell if it was in a 16x11 or 16x10 configuration. Or even if it had a dirty rim!
