How to post

1. Do not use the "Reply with Review Button" but the regular one

2. Put the name of the hotel in the title of the post and the thread

3. Use the following format by extracting it, ie by using "reply quoting", copying the content into memory, then backing out of "reply quoting" and then pasting the copied content into a new post. Each line is formatted so that you can paste in between them having deleted these opening comments:

Maintenance Schedule
Links to reports between January 2020 and March 2020 will be deleted after April 01, 2022 --> Dec 31, 2022

With this approach I hope to get a balance between the requests to have also older post in this thread and those requesting only to have newer up-to-date posts.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? I booked two nights of Chase IHG Free night in a Superior Room and then two nights using Complementary Weekend Certificate in a Deluxe King. The first two nights were upgraded as Ambassador to Deluxe King, then I paid the cash difference to upgrade to a Junior Suite. The second two nights were upgraded to Junior Suite as Ambassador.

How are the rooms? We were in the west tower in a junior suite on the 9th floor. The room is ready to be renovated. The TVs are newish, and the bathroom had been renovated in past several years. But overall, it's time for a renovation. The view of the zoo was nice.

How is the exec. lounge? Closed

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
-Drink vouchers can be used for any drink at the Marlene bar, including cocktails. Cocktails at Marlene were quite good.
-Spa was pleasant and not crowded.
-The room service breakfast was quite good and reasonably priced given that the American breakfast (the largest option) was well more than enough food for two people. They also accommodated my request for some kids yogurt and specific fruits.
-We were given a jar of Marlene strawberry jam at check out.

Bad:
-When we checked in, it became clear I had somehow not booked the Ambassador Complementary Weekend night rate for the weekend part of the stay. I was trying to inquire if there was any way they had modified my reservation after I contacted them to inquire about upgrading. The duty manager came up to the front and was quite unfriendly and basically told me it was my fault and that they did nothing wrong. It was easily resolved by canceling the reservation and booking the correct one, but was not a pleasant welcome and was not merited by anything I said or did.
-I also politely inquired if the room we had been given was renovated, and the same manager woman came immediately running back up after she overheard me to tell me that she only has two renovated junior suites available in the east wing over the street and that they wouldn't have functioning water until the next day. She was very defensive and said that normally people prefer to be higher up in the tower, away from the street, and I said sure but I have never been in this hotel and can't really say without seeing the rooms. I told her to forget about it, and we came back the following day and were shown the new room. It was nice, however the bedroom was not its own room, which wasn't going to work for us with our two year old son. I am not sure if all the renovated junior suites are that way because this was the last room at the end of the hall where the exterior of the building is slightly curved, making the room smaller. Apparently the west tower renovation won't be finished until 2024. All in all, strange, unwarranted interaction with the manager.
-The pool/spa requires a reservation due to COVID regulations. I showed up without one, and there was space. But, they were a bit uppity about it. I explained I was working around my kid's nap schedule and couldn't say with certainty in advance when I would show up.
-We had our do not disturb light on for most of the stay, and although they left a card on the door asking us to call for housekeeping if we wanted it, they still called the room and woke up our son during his nap on one of the days.
-Very limited lunch room service menu between 12PM and 3PM.
-Almost no menu options for children.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Relative to the full cash price for four nights in a junior suite, we paid about 600 euros less which was a good deal. Not sure I would necessarily return until the renovation of the hotel is fully complete and the Club Lounge is reopened.

Very strange behavior by the manager I have never found one to be less than charming and helpful.
The west wing junior suites are the only ones with separate living/bedroom even senior suites there are open plan in west .
I’m there next week so will see what I get , booked a junior suite and now shows senior , I guess it will be a club senior .
Am currently in club lounge in Paris it’s the first one I have found open in two years

Points redemption for this past weekend.
Booked a standard room and given a 'club room'.

How are the rooms?
It has a large sofa and a King bed. Bathrobe and crappy slippers in the wardrobe.
Many free snacks and beverages including a complimentary bottle of wine, a Nespresso with seemingly endless refill, crisps, biscuits. You get the idea.

How is the exec. lounge?
If there is a club lounge I haven't found it.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
A 3 night redemption came to 110000 points which seems reasonable to me.

What was good and what was bad?
All in all a very pleasant stay.
