InterContinental Minneapolis - St. Paul Airport
InterContinental Minneapolis - St. Paul Airport
I am a Diamond Ambassador member.
A flight cancellation left me with a nine hour layover at MSP so I decided to book a points redemption to bridge my redeye arrival to my afternoon departure. I called the Front Desk in advance to let them know I would be checking in the next morning of my reservation and seeking the 4pm late checkout.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Points award for a standard room; double upgraded to a king corner runway view room on the 8th (rooms are on the 3rd to 12th) Floor.
How are the rooms?
The rooms are somewhat small and narrow but smartly appointed and laid out. The corner room was nice to have the extra light and views of the airport. Single sink and walk-in shower in the bathroom. Nespresso machine and mini fridge in the bedroom, along with a small couch and long desk with a 50" TV with Chromecast.
The property is only a few years old and everything is in great condition. The sheets were crisp and the towels very soft.
How is the exec. lounge?

What was good and what was bad?
The location is great, especially if you are using it as an arrival hotel without checked luggage. There is a skyway from Terminal 1 adjacent to gate C25 to the hotel; the TSA has suspended the checkpoint at the skyway so if arriving with checked luggage or departing to the terminals or rental car center, you must take the hotel shuttle which runs every 20 minutes and is by reservation only.. I booked a 1:20pm shuttle but called down to the front desk around 12:30pm to confirm I could take the next shuttle. The shuttle is a very plush mini bus and it's a very short 5-7 min ride.
I was given points and a few bottles of water (choice of still or fizzy) for my welcome amenity.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
I used 33K points and given the convenience of the location, elite recognition, and quality of the property, I would certainly stay here if in a similar situation.
