Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Classic Room Point booking, got 1 King Bedroom Suite with living area for 2 night
How are the rooms?
Suite is very big and great views to the downtown, most room amenity need to request (due to covid?), that same as other holiday inn i stay before in canada before the stay.
No paper menu in room at all, all require you to scan the QR code to explore. The 50inch+ Samsung TV in living room and bedroom are amazing that it is my first time see a chromecast TV working with hotel wifi, even better than the new Kimpton in Bangkok, but still have room to improve like the connection will drop after sometime and need to trick to reconnect it with playing around the MAC address.
Decor is old school, dark and red just like other ambassador said, but I am fine with that and still look grand.
How is the exec. lounge?
Not a big one but quiet and comfortable. Not crowded at all. Great snacks and drink is offered. But basically no service at all and self service.
What was good and what was bad?
Good
- Ambassador benefits recognition right at check-in with upgrade, 4pm check-out, diamond breakfast proactively.
- Got charcuterie plate in room at night.
- All of the staff are very nice.
- Very amazing location in the city, even at night it is feel more security than the area of HI Downtown nearby.
Bad
- Not sure am I understand wrong with the front desk but $25 f&b credit sound not getting together with charcuterie plate as an ambassador benefit? I am being ask for either getting a charcuterie plate or $25 credit? Anyway I don't have time to use it...
- I was separate two booking for two night and the front desk is notified by me when check in and she say ok. However I lost my room access/lounge access/no breakfast record for my room key on 2nd night, it is sort out by her colleague after visit front desk again. That probably need some training for handle these complex booking for front desk staff.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Quite cheap in terms of point compare to other downtown hotel, very reasonable price. It is even similar price with HI Montreal (just 2k point difference). Cash price also reasonable for company rate. Will return definitely if getting to montreal.
