Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked suite ocean view on points, which is the “basic” room. Received a double upgrade to terrace pool villa.
We were there on weekdays, shoulder season and they explained that they were closing the main building for a couple of days (they’re still in soft opening) so I wouldn’t expect such upgrade in the future. Especially not on points.

How are the rooms?
Ocean view suite: I wouldn’t really call it a suite (and neither did the staff!). Let’s say a junior suite. It’s a rather big and beautiful room, with a balcony big enough to serve as “living room”, with sofa and coffee table. It’s really quite nice.

Terrace pool villa: this was fantastic. The room and bathroom were big, the living room was huge. It has everything you may need, including a fully equipped kitchen. The pool was also long enough that you can actually swim a bit (maybe ~12m long). Unlike the lagoon pool villas, it was also very private.

How is the exec. lounge?
Did not visit but it has a nice view.

What was good and what was bad?

Good

• Fantastic upgrade this time
• Exceptional service throughout. I think as good as or better than any IC I’ve been at even with RA and club benefits.
• The whole resort is beautifully done with a nice theme
• Breakfast included and very good. The main restaurant is made of several spaces so it doesn’t feel like a canteen.
• The resort was only ~40% full when we were there, but even at full capacity I doubt it’d feel crowded. Especially as more than half of the "rooms" have their own pool
• Impressive kids club

Bad:

• There are still a few quirks to be sorted out (e.g water leak due to rain) but really it’s almost perfect.
• The choice of restaurants is a bit limited.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
With the upgrade, the value for points is just outrageous but I think that was very lucky.
Even without the upgrade, considering the big room and everything that’s included (breakfast, mini bar, laundry…) I think this is very good value. It’s double the points cost of the intercon next door, but I think it’s worth it.

On $, this is definitely not a cheap place for Phu Quoc.
