Arrow Please post your Ambassador experiences (Archive Thread 2008 - 2013)

I've read a lot experence on RA benifit but seldom on Ambassador experiences. So I'm thinking to start a thread to post Ambassador experiences:

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
- How are the rooms?
- How is the exec. lounge?
- What was good and what was bad?
- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

IC Frankfurt, my son's stay.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
-Yes.
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?I booked for him a Classic Room and got -upgraded to a Superior Room overlooking the river + he got Club access!
- How are the rooms?
-Nice room, but old TV and old bathroom.
- How is the exec. lounge?
-In his words, good breakfast, he could have dinner there btw, and exceptional service provided.
- What was good and what was bad?
Good:
-Nice upgrade!
-The hotel is located right at the center

Bad:
-The check-in process was long since he was 16 checking in alone, but it all got sorted out in one hour, and for his waiting they gave him a free drink at the bar.
-The bathroom is quite old.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
-Yes he would and good value since the room rate was 120 Euro/night.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
"King With Danube And Castle Hill View" to "King With Danube And Castle Hill View Suite" - I confirmed this via e-mail prior to my visit

How are the rooms?
Separate bedroom (no windows) and lounge
A little tired on the furniture side

How is the exec. lounge?
n/a

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
I made two back to back bookings and received the welcome gift (a bottle of local wine) again when my second stay started
Flat TV screensx2
Bad:
Room furniture beginning to look a little tired and the sockets were hidden in the back of desk

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
- Good value. second person supplement wasn't charged
- Had to call PC to get points posted for 2-4-1 stay, no problem
- Wouldn't return in a hurry as went there on holiday and weren't overly impressed with the town – prices similar to London although beautiful architecture

Tip: Getting back home - get the hotel to arrange a taxi to the airport for you and agree the price with cab driver as soon as you get in. Nearly all taxi's in Budapest rip you off

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
"Superior category" upgraded to a "King Deluxe room"

How are the rooms?
Large room with with windows on two sides (no sofa but table and chairs)

How is the exec. lounge?
n/a

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Spacious room

Bad:
Old style CRT TV
Bar closed at midnight because we were only people left (Thursday)

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
- Good value.
- Yes

Tip: The 1&2 Tram lines run near the hotel and circle the city - handy to get to the key sites.
Also the airport express is only one stop/short taxi away from the hotel

What is your Priority Club status?
Gold Ambassador (I know this is an RA thread, but I haven't seen a review of this property, so I thought it was worth contributing).

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked king club room for 3 nights (1 night using BOGO), received a 1 bedroom club suite.

- How are the rooms?
Nice. The rooms are a little dated, albeit they've aged well. The 1 bedroom suite has a large entrance, powder room, living room, bedroom, WIR, dressing room and spacious bathroom with seperate shower and bath.

- How is the Exec. lounge?
Not bad. The wine wasn't great, however there was a wide range of spirits and mixers available 24/7. The food was "ok", however we opted to eat breakfasts downstairs.

- What was good and what was bad?
GOOD
- We checked in at 8am, and as soon as we walked through the door one of the managers was waiting for us and escorted us to our suite for check-in.
- Hotel staff were very friendly
- Room upgrade was very good

BAD
- Rooms could do with a 'freshen up', although they're still quite nice for the region.
- Concierge wasn't very helpful (long story).
- No 'local' welcome gift, instead we ended up with 3 huge fruit platters. We ended up bagging it all and taking it to a local orphanage.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes - Good upgrade, especially for just an Ambassador.

NB. I was an ambassador at the time of my stay, hence this is an ambassador experience not an RA expereince

Stay was in February 09

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
"Club room" with a double upgrade after misunderstandings and frustrations to a "Junior Suite" in the non-refurbished part of the hotel

How are the rooms?
The room was lovely and spacious (50m2), with separate area with sofa, chair and coffee table.

How is the exec. lounge?
In general, very good. The breakfast was varied, with hot and cold options. Admittedly the cold options were better than the hot.
Afternoon tea was good, with small individual desserts on plates.
Cocktail hour was very good. The selection of canapes was slightly disappointing, with a number of fiddly cold dishes; however, the hot dishes were great. The alcohol selection was everything you'd expect. It's a few months since I we were there, but I think the alcohol was removed at 8pm

What was good and what was bad?
Good
  • HUGE room with walk-in wardrobe (although "suite" is stretching the description a bit)
  • Great "We live like this" toiletries - my favourite
  • Lovely Club Lounge
  • Birthday gift for my lady - chilled bottle of prosecco and a small cake

Bad
  • Bed very tired in unrefurbished room - could feel the metal in the mattress at the edge
  • Minibar not cold (although wasn't used so wasn't important)
  • Bathroom was huge, but split into different areas, with a tiny bath
  • Welcome gift was 2 chocolates
  • Weather was foul (okay, I can't quite blame that on the hotel!)
  • Requested 4pm checkout on last day but when we returned at 3.30pm, the room had a cleaner in it, the last of the cake we had saved had been removed, along with the slippers etc etc etc. We asked the cleaner to leave, but the bed had been re-made, making packing rather awkward. This whole episode was embarrassing and made packing stressful
  • Even though the birthday gift above was great, there was no water supplied that day - when I rang to request the gift and water, was told the birthday gift was instead of it that day (water and fruit appeared next day)

Value for £ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Great value using a BOGOF - not sure if I was paying for both nights

Return? No. From what I've read on FT, I get the feeling the Hilton Vienna offering is probably better in Vienna.

NB. I was an ambassador at the time of my stay, hence this is an ambassador experience not an RA expereince

Stay was a 1 night stay at the start of May 09

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a Classic room and received an upgrade to a Deluxe Room
Paid the Ambassador special rate of £40+VAT for club access

How are the rooms?
The room was fantastic. Traditional style but nicely decorated with it

How is the exec. lounge?
In general, very good.
The view was fantastic.
Breakfast was a mixed bag. The selection was good, although admittedly the cold food was was better than the hot, with especially fine smoked salmon. Hot food seemed as though it had been kept under a heat lamp for hours - dried and uninspiring (apart from the vine tomato which was toe-curlingly good!), and mostly luke warm
Afternoon tea was excellent, with scones and sandwiches (although the scones were dry and stale on the second afternoon).
Nuts and dried fruit were available throughout the day
Cocktail hour food was at best poor. The "hot" canapes were cold and dry. The choice of cold food was poor considering the cost of lounge access
The choice of alcohol was very good, including champagne - although all the alcohol disappeared at the appointed time (with no questions asked if you stacked your table - very uncooth though)
Coffee in lounge very poor quality
Selection of teas was fantastic, and very good

What was good and what was bad?
Good
  • Lovely powerful shower with choice of rainfall or normal
  • Best bed I've slept in for many years, with lovely sheets, great pillows etc etc
  • Great Bose CD player in room
  • Wide tea choice in lounge
  • Fanatastic views of London
  • Great location

Bad
  • Elemis amenities not my favourite - shower gel smelt of spearmint.....
  • Lounge access would be expensive at full price
  • Lounge food was of very mixed quality

Value for £ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Expensive, but great value for a special hotel in central London.
We will definitely return

HELP need a phone number or e-mail for Brad May

Until this past month I have been a very satisfied Ambassador/Six Continents member for nine years. The recent customer service agents attitude has just been awful and I feel that the Director of the program, Brad May or someone in authority, should aware of this. If my employees treated my customers rudely then I would want to know about it. However, I have tried and tried over this past ten days and have left voice mails, emails and tried to get through the corporate telephone mess in Atlanta...all with no luck. I would appreciate if anyone could provide a real telephone or e-mail address that I can reach someone in corporate who has some authority with the Ambassador Club.
Thank you

Late May, one night. Upgraded from Queen Superior to King Superior. Nice, comfortable room. Had to request complimentary fruit plate and bottled water, which were delivered early evening. Used the in-house wireless service and was charged for it. Hotel agreed to remove it from my bill when I pointed out "free" wireless was an Ambassador benefit. Beautiful, well-located hotel but not really service-oriented. Essentially an upscale convention hotel.

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, apart from the room itself.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard Room (called Superior Room), received Jr Suite.

How are the rooms?
Had a room in the very old west wing. These rooms will all be renovated in a few months, some are currently. Size was ok (~50sqm), one 'living room' with desk and sofa, a small bedroom and an ensuite bathroom.
Negative aspect: The room was really dated, old-fashioned and worn

How is the Club Lounge?
plus 70€ per room/night. IMO definitely worth it (at least for two people).
- full breakfast (incl. several hot items, great selection of food and drinks)
- 'tea time' with sandwiches & cake
- evening snack that is rather a full meal (though the only hot item was soup)
- drinks (incl. beer) all day, open bar from 6p.m. till 10.30p.m. (great selection of drinks)
- free minibar in room
- free access to the wellness area (normally 15€ per person)

Staff was very friendly and helpful.

What was good and what was bad?

^
- Great Lounge
- Good service
- very nice Spa-Area with large pool

The room was in a really bad condition, nearly inacceptable IMO.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Good value. 10K bonus-rate was the same as best flex. Will return when all rooms are refurbished

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yup, always happy. I stay here every week.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King City room and upgraded to the Watsons Bay Executive room or the Harbour View Executive room depending on availability.

- How are the rooms?
Quite nice. Simple. Great view.

- How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

- What was good and what was bad?
Good
Close the train station, good views. Very attentive. Internet is very fast.

Bad
Shower is over the bathtub for these rooms. Would have been nice if they were separate like the Four Seasons down the road. Watsons Bay rooms can be slightly noisy in the morning due to the road, even on the 25th floor. Gym is slightly dated and could be nicer.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Instead of a welcome gift they provide you with the option of $10 food and drink credit for the duration of the stay, a bottle of red, or 1000 points. I always go for the points option.
I stay here through work so it's good value for me.

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Definitely

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked 'Superior Room' (which is the lowest category) and got upgraded to a 'Deluxe Room' (one category above).

How are the rooms?
Very nice and renovated room, size was perfect. The bathroom was a bit small, but also very nice.

How is the Club Lounge?
Was offered access at 60€/night but denied because I had planned to eat Schnitzel & Sachertorte

What was good and what was bad?

^
- location (directly opposite the 'Stadtpark', only short walking distance to the main sights)
- service could not be better
- very nice bar with a large selection of drinks (especially Whiskey)
- small but nice sauna area, large gym
- nice room

nothing to mention

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Amazing value for just 5000 points (pointbreaks)

Would you return?
anytime

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
More than ever

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Club Room and got upgraded to a very nice corner suite (~65sqm) on an upper floor.

How are the rooms?
Very nice and modern. Small living area with desk, sofa and table followed by a huge bedroom. One wall was completely made of windows. Bed was also huge and very comfortable.

Bathroom was also perfect, large and with a seperate walk in shower.

How is the Club Lounge?
Superb. Service was extraordinary good, it was also possible to order beverages from the club either to pool or room. They also brought coffee & some pastries five minutes after the wake up call (service must be ordered but is complimentary). Nice breakfast selection with hot items (western & asian) made to order. Just try the pancakes
Tasty Snacks during 'High Tea' are served on a plate but it is no problem to get more of the items you liked most. Evening snacks are also very good with a large selection. There were three hot items.

Alcoholic beverages are only available for a short time frame (~3h), cannot remember exactly.

If booking a club room there are three items of laundry included.

What was good and what was bad?

^
- location (very convenient to Siam Square & the large malls)
- excellent service
- superb club lounge with a fascinating view over BKK
- large modern gym, nice pool on the roof
- perfect room (regarding size, style & features)

well, airport transfer is a bit overpriced at ~3K THB

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Booked F&F which was ok. Received full Ambassador benefits ^

Would you return?
anytime

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a Deluxe Suite, instead of upgrading me to an even larger room they gave me club access. Next category would have been a two bedroom suite, so I was very happy with the club access.

How are the rooms?
90sqm, huge living room with dining table, sofa, working desk and a small bathroom for guests. Bedroom was also very large with a seperate dressing area and main bathroom ensuite.

All in all very stylish and modern with lots of windows.

How is the Club Lounge?
Huge and overlooking the creek. Internet is available, therefor laptops are provided.

Nice breakfast selection with (absolutely horrible) made-to-order eggs, other hot items, large choice of bread, fruit, cereals etc.

Afternoon tea was superb with lots of food provided.

Food selection in the evening was not that good, however it was very tasty.

Caution: The benefit 'Free airport transfer' only applies if you BOOK a club room, not for upgraded club users!

What was good and what was bad?

^
- nice and modern appearence of the hotel
- large rooms with nice views (standard rooms ~45sqm)
- pool area & gym

- partly bad and unfriendly service in the lounge
- pool area can also be used by CP-guests
- poor food serving in the evening regarding quantity
- somehow the hotel is 'in the middle of nowhere', but there is a large mall next door

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Booked F&F which was very cheap. Received full Ambassador benefits. I was able to use a BOGO although it was a) F&F-rate and b) suite booking ^
On top of this, I also received points for the stay

Would you return?
I think so

IC Singapore - they gave what I thought was a rug sample or map...turned out to be a decent scarf my wife wore for the rest of the trip! Booked a deluxe room, got a largish junior suite.

IC Sydney - couple bottles of mineral water & a choice of either 1k points, $10 bar credit, or 1/2 bottle of wine. We stayed twice & same each time - chose the wine.Upgraded from a regular suite to a Govenor Suite.

CP Changi - yes it's a CP - but they welcome you as Platinum Ambassadors, with a tray of choccies in room & a bottle of purified tap water. One level upgrades here.
