Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Classic King Club Intercontinental - I received a King 1 Bedroom Executive Suite for my 2 nights

How are the rooms?
Suite is large with separate living room, large bedroom & bathroom plus separate guest toilet, and has obviously had a light refurb (carpets, curtains, etc) but it clearly has "old bones". Reasonable sound proofing. Overall a very comfortable suite.

No physical menu in room at all, everything requires a QR code. The Samsung TV in living room and bedroom are crap. Old model in bedroom & the one in living room(although newer) allows no connectivity/functionality to attach MacBook via HDMI or mirror etc. etc. This was a major drawback to me. The hotel (despite promises) failed to fix this issue.

How is the exec. lounge?
Large, quiet and comfortable. Waiter service for everything. Excellent breakfast with limited items but good quality. Excellent egg dishes cooked to order. Not crowded at all, even in peak evening happy hour 17.30-19.30. Evening service snacks were poor with a small selection but decent drinks were offered with generous refills.

What was good and what was bad?

Good
  • Diamond Ambassador benefits recognition at check-in with upgrade, 4pm check-out etc etc.
  • Suite upgrade without prompting.
  • Location is within 10 minutes of major shopping/dining options.
Bad
  • TV/IT issues remained unresolved despite many assurances. Total lack of follow ups from management with me chasing. Poor.
  • Whilst it's comfortable, the hotel could do with a full refurbishment to bring it into 21st century
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Ok value with a 2-1 weekend certificate, otherwise there are more modern choices out there. I probably wouldn't stay again.
