This thread is dedicated to the report of the experience and not so much about discussions about each individual hotel, which should be done in the hotel. One of the moderators will add the report to the overview in each thread, which is listed in regions.

If you post here as either Rewards Club or Royal Ambassador Members, you post will be moved accordingly without further notice.

Given that this thread has be so many times moved, merged and split in the past, that it was better to start a new one from scratch. I apologies for the inconvenience caused by this decision.

How to post

1. Do not use the "Reply with Review Button" but the regular one

2. Put the name of the hotel in the title of the post and the thread

3. Use the following format by extracting it, ie by using "reply quoting", copying the content into memory, then backing out of "reply quoting" and then pasting the copied content into a new post. Each line is formatted so that you can paste in between them having deleted these opening comments:

Intercontinental Los Angeles Century City

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked an Executive Suite for two nights using a Weekend BOGO Voucher. Booked the base room for a 3rd night using points, as it was the only option.

About a week before my stay, I sent an e-mail asking "if it was possible to keep the same room throughout my stay" and offered to pay an upsell. The hotel responded by saying the Ambassador upgrade policy recently changed, and under the new policy, Executive Suites are the highest you can upgrade to. However, they grandfathered me under the old policy, so I got a free upgrade to a Premier suite and they offered a $200 upsell to keep the Premier Suite for the 3rd night, which I accepted.

How are the rooms?
The Premier Suite has a lot more space than an Executive Suite, but the quality of everything in it is the same. The only additional amenities I noticed were a 2nd sink in the bathroom and a 4-5 person dining table. Aside from that, I believe the only difference between the two is space.

How is the exec. lounge?
I don't believe there's a "lounge" but there is a VIP check-in area, which is very LA. I was able to check-in there as a Spire Ambassador.

What was good and what was bad?
GOOD

The complimentary town car is a Tesla, which was fun.
The hotel's common areas are impressive, with nice furniture and complimentary fruit-infused water throughout.
All the employees are friendly without seeming disingenuous.
Everything is well-maintained. The only imperfections I noticed was some scuffed wallpaper in the hallway.

BAD

The hotel's location isn't close to any tourist sites, but it's in a strategic location to Uber mostly everywhere without costing a fortune.
No free parking nearby, and the hotel charges $38/nt for valet.

For being in LA, I believe you get more for your money than other hotels; just be sure to factor-in Uber fares when comparing. At 50k points/nt, it's a good redemption, but will be increasing to 60k in 10 days. This is a nice hotel, but probably not in the same league as most other 60k options.

InterContinental Tokyo Bay

(This relates to a stay at the InterContinental Tokyo Bay with a friend)

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
I booked two Club rooms with view from the bathroom. One of the rooms was upgraded to a corner room.

How are the rooms?
Large and modern, with immaculate furniture and extremely comfortable beds! Both rooms had windows in the bathroom, with superb views. The corner room had a balcony but the door to access it was sealed with a "break in case of emergency" lock.

There was a plate of fruit and a small box of chocolates in my room as a welcome gift.

How is the exec. lounge?
Relatively small and busy - there are a variety of warm and cold options at breakfast and apparently hot meals in the evening (my friend and I instead snacked on crisps and sandwiches in the evening - not exactly living the high life!)

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
The most effusive welcome I've ever had, which included us both being escorted to our respective rooms and shown how to use the aircon etc.
A free shuttle bus from the nearby Yamanote line station (although it's actually faster just to walk)
A nice little bakery in the lobby
The staff were very friendly, welcoming us back each time we returned to the hotel
Everything was spotless and there was a large array of toiletries in the bathroom
I checked in at 8 in the morning, so I'd booked the rooms for the night before. They waived the charge for both rooms for that night, which saved a significant amount of money

Bad:
I was charged for consuming 7 items from the minibar on Christmas Day - the snag being I hadn't touched anything! This was sorted on checkout.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
It's expensive, but no more so than booking in London. Both of us enjoyed the stay so much that we're going back for another week's worth in October!

Intercontinental Moorea Resort & Spa

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
We made multiple reservations. First 2 nights using AMB BOGO, booked a premium beach bungalow; we had 4 nights on points; and I paid for a premium overwater bungalow for the last night. We were put into the premium overwater bungalow for the entire stay.

How are the rooms? They are a little tired, "polynesian" in feel. Reminded me a lot of the IC Tahiti.

How is the exec. lounge? there isn't one

What was good and what was bad? Staff were really wonderful. Location was pretty good - restaurants and shops within walking distance. We were fortunate to get one of the "true" overwater bungalows - most of them are only partially overwater. Snorkeling is great here.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Absolutely, especially in the off season.

Intercontinental Sydney Double Bay

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Reward night booking for four nights (50,000 points a night).
Received no upgrade, as expected on reward nights. I am a Platinum Ambassador status.
I did get a top floor (5th floor) room, but without a view (looking into the courtyard).
I did get a 4pm checkout as guaranteed by AMB status.

How are the rooms?
Spacious, well maintained, high tech.
Quiet - did not hear any noise from outside or next door rooms during our stay.
Wifi was very fast.
Came with Nespresso machine.
Free chocolates and fruits the first day. Free San Pellegrino water first and third day.
Free IC bottled water every day.

How is the exec. lounge?
Did not get access.

What was good and what was bad?
Location is not ideal for sightseeing as it is in the suburb of Double Bay. Not that convenient for train transport. 5 minutes walk to ferry pier, but there is only a ferry every hour (half hour during peak times) to Circular Quay. Buses do run frequently to CBD area, but not the touristy areas.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Decent value for points I think as nightly rates were around 350 AUD. The rooms were good, and service what I expected from an IC. I would return if in Sydney for business (and can expense Uber rides) or need to do something in the Double Bay area.
