I'm sure it's just cost - but I wonder what providing hot meals on all routes would do to ticket prices? Some other airlines may manage hot meals on short flights, but on others (Lufthansa for example) you wouldn't even get the hot breakfast on these sort of routes, so I am personally happy that BA offer this! I largely think the current CE catering offering is just about right given flight lengths and times of day (just my personal view). I only wish they would bring back a salad / ploughman's alternative to the afternoon tea which I'm really not a fan of.

No menus, but pork medallions - a bit tough...

And the Vegetarian option (pasta) - Mrs CKBA thought it was wonderful (!).

Nice looking smoked salmon and a much more appealing scone than I had in the First lounge this week — for some reason the scone dough tasted weirdly sweet, almost like a dough like rich tea biscuit rather than an actual scone. Not sure if others have encountered this too?

PS. Does the kosher meal tea come with actual butter and clotted cream or is it nondairy?

LHR-SOF January 1st Club Europe lunch

The starter had a sort of pesto tasting dressing on the grains (might have been Israeli couscous?) and the horseradish crème fraîche was a very good accompaniment to the smoked salmon. I thought the dessert (ginger chocolate mousse) was a bit too sweet but the cheese was good.

LHR-GVA lunchtime: the options were described as a prawn salad and "a sort of nicoise salad without the tuna". The sort of nicoise salad was very tasty, teeny tiny slivers of boiled egg, roasted aubergine slices, sun blush tomatoes, capers and some sort of nutty lumpy thing on a bed of cos salad, grated parmesan and an unknown dressing. It's the magical mystery tours I enjoy most about BA's catering...!

Bacon and egg roll for an early Jersey. Nightstopper catered as well so the cereal bar is present.

CE menu Aberdeen to London 6th Jan mid morning. Neither option was popular from what I could see of the service.

Hot smoked salmon with celeriac sounds good but what the hell is that “Buddha plate”? What a weird combination of different things: fruit, egg, vegetables…

Lunch offering to Belfast - king prawn salad, or this which was described as a cobb salad without the chicken.
