Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

I can't help but be reminded of a certain argument from Fawlty towers here....

It usually can get quite smelly, and depending on where I'm traveling, kosher meat can be hard to obtain, so I look forward to a meat meal on a flight.... Just my personal preference. Usually if it's fish, I send it back.

LGW - ALC

I was impressed with the quality and quantity of the food served on this Band 3. The butter chicken was tasty, I complimented the crew and they seemed very proud that BA was investing in the product. My only niggle was that there appears to be only one wine glass per person loaded meaning I had my champers in the proper glass and my wine in a normal glass .. not the end of the world!

Fresh back from Oktoberfest I was taken straight back to Bavaria with this dish. There was no menu and the crew were struggling to work out what everything was, but I had roast pork with herb dumplings and red cabbage. Absolutely delicious. The salad starter was a bit disappointing (leaves, half a tiny tomato and a few shavings of cheese) but at least there was a dressing sachet. I was moaning about lack of quince jelly with the cheese a few weeks ago but that seems to be back. Dessert and coffee also good. Plenty of drinks supplied by the crew.

Apologies, I had included the route info with some commentary about the filthy state of the 767 I was on but removed it in the interests of keeping on topic. LHR-MAD 12/10/18 at 15.10 so the ‘rest of day’ meal. The other options were vegetarian pasta (it was green - looked like pesto?) or the beef salad as already posted upthread.

This is interesting since it seems to be the first sighting of that pork dumpling dish, which would now be on the third rotation (1 rotation change per fortnight) and there is a suggestion elsewhere that there are 4 rotations in all. My fear was that it was just alternating pairs, but this suggests not, and with a fair degree of variety now, which was a severe problem with the previous set up.

Yes, the crew had not seen this before and since no menus were loaded they had to open the meals to work out what they were. I think this is my favourite meal so far but then I have Bavarian connections.

And the cheese is served in a bowl!! I seem to be the only person outraged by this, but I'm sorry, I really think it deserves more air-time - when has anyone ever eaten cheese out of a bowl in real life?!

Would it take up more space? No. Would it weigh more? No - it would weigh less. Would it be easier to cut your cheese? Yes. Would you feel less like a badly co-ordinated toddler who can't be trusted to use a dish without sides? Yes.

I know it's #firstworldproblems , but honestly. Who signed this off??

Band 2 - Breakfast (Full English)

I had the Full English Breakfst. Two other options were Cold Plate (Ham & Cheese) and Porridge. The latter two were not stocked in large quantities (only 2 of each stocked with 19 pax across 6 rows) as clearly the Full English is the most popular although at least one person behind was disappointed both the cold plates had run out. I din't get the choice either and I was in Row 4.

No menus at all given (not normal I think and they must have forgot? It was my first CE flight since the new service and I thought menus were given on Band 2 flights?) <<-- Turns out I'm an idiot. Bands 3 & 4 only!

Also my 1st ever A320neo flight so was pleased about that!
