Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

So this is how it’s meant to look. There should be some kind of sauce after all. I had it on CAG-LGW today and it was far less wet than in your photo, to an extent that made me wonder why they called it a curry.

I could not agree more. Everyone is fed up with it. I suspect that they don't know how to cook anything else

I have never heard of this - however whatever they served nowadays someone would have an allergy to it and at that rate none of us would get to eat. I am fortunate to be allergic to nothing except that brussel sprouts, rice pudding, and oysters make me retch.

Rest assured that if they're reading this, Gatwick caterings answer to Heston Blumenthal / Letitia Cropley will combine all 3 key ingredients into a curry of some sort .... Just for you!

I vaguely remember having this once (I think it was polenta and not potato)? And it being very nice all be it rather on the sloppy side as you mention. Must have been a good 2-3yrs ago? I've not seen it since I hasten to add. I also note in your photo the plate of cheese and unwrapped oatcakes as opposed to the current bowl of cheese wedges and grapes.... Definitely pre 'enhanced' catering

Celery is not an uncommon allergy. It's common enough that a good number of food labels highlight it. It's particularly annoying. Ironically, it was celeriac that kicked it off for me.

Beef Stroganoff on flight to Madeira which was fine.
The antipasti needs to be rotated more, as does the cheese. Both getting a bit boring now!

Angel - when did you have the Beef Stroganoff? That looks like the Beef Bourgignionne in your picture? I ask because BCAL and TWA both did that dish and although it was not a real Stroganoff in so far as it certainly did not have Fillet Steak in it, it was delicious and one of the few recipes from an airline that I copied at home for my Beloved.

As for the starters, I quite enjoy them but I have not seen the Beetroot for a while. That was my least favourite.

One think that I will say however with all these - I find the meals fairly substantial and keep me and indeed Him Indoors going. Personally, I'd like a little more cheese as I am a cheese freak - but that is very much an individual preference. I think that there has been a huge improvement since the catering changes and, may I add, not before time.

I erroneously assumed you lived on a diet of champagne and oysters, preferably taken on the Côte d'Azur

Until the seasonal menu change the other day a braised beef with parmesan polenta was one of the CityFlyer hot meals. Indeed it was sometimes sloppy, but tasty.

Such a shame it gets slopped all over the sides of the dish!

I had similar with my Band 3 ‘Curry’ ... the CC was kind enough to warn me, though.
