How to post

1. Do not use the "Reply with Review Button" but the regular one

2. Put the name of the hotel in the title of the post and the thread

3. Use the following format by extracting it, ie by using "reply quoting", copying the content into memory, then backing out of "reply quoting" and then pasting the copied content into a new post. Each line is formatted so that you can paste in between them having deleted these opening comments:

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? We booked the cheapest club room and received a two level upgrade to a deluxe suite.

How are the rooms? This was the biggest suite we have had so far at this hotel. It was a corner suite so had three balconies. The balcony that overlooked the outdoor pool was very deep and had outdoor furniture. The other two balconies were standard size. The sitting room was well furnished. There was a sofa and armchair, desk with chair and dining table with three chairs. My eldest son had a rollaway bed in the corner of the room. Bathroom amenities were 100ml Agraria.

How is the exec. lounge? Lovely as always. The bar service went on longer on New Year’s Eve.

What was good and what was bad? Welcome points posted quickly. We were given three drinks vouchers for Waterbiscuit which I used for lunchtime cocktails. Large bottles of still and sparkling mineral water were delivered each day. Generous fruit bowl and handwritten welcome card along with a box of nougat were in the room when we entered. Second box of nougat was delivered with our final bill on the penultimate day. The pool was under-utilised while we were there. The only bad thing was that the sauna was out of action.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? We paid an average of £180 per night. This compared to £110 at HIX next door. £70 premium was so worth it for a two roomed suite, club lounge, pool, gym and spa.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you get?
Superior Room with Points during pre-Xmas-season. Got upgraded to Deluxe Room (basically the same room but with nicer valley view)
We were offered breakfast (35 CHF p/P) during check in process, accepted.

How are the rooms?
Warm Chalet style, quality furniture, good Nespresso coffee machine, free to use basic mini bar (with water, coke, beer, Rivella etc..).
Overall the room was very well maintained and very clean. However, the large balcony window front showed ugly signs of half hearted cleaning. Hope this was fixed for high scale Xmas and WEF time ;-)

How is the exec. lounge?
No access granted this time since on points. Club was offered during check-in for 89 CHF minus 20% AMB rebate. I did not opt in since we had evening plans already, also not sure if this was per person or per room/night.

What was good and what was bad?
GOOD
- Great venue and architecture, top notch rooms and furniture, very nice Spa
- Kind and attentive staff. Well managed breakfast in main restaurant (at times this was a chaotic mess in the past).
BAD
- Parking - still too expensive (but I guess this will never change) unless you catch one of the 20 free outside spots.
- Almost forced to book on points since the pre-season rate this time was > 400 CHF per night - that's double the rate of the Seehof, Waldhuus or Belvedere.

Value for Points? Would you return?
Very good value for points. Yes, will return. But only in quiet pre/aft season, never in high season. Still sad that this hotel closes in low season (but clearly see the business need to).

Two Bed Polanco View. Received the same. Other Ambassador perks are special check in area, fruit and water as a welcome gift plus new bottled water each day and a free pay per view movie.

How are the rooms?
A little on the small side. They have really nice showers but the beds are not very comfortable and have only two bed pillows. The TV is large and there are lots of outlets near the bed

How is the exec. lounge?
It's a $30 day upcharge but it's an excellent lounge. Huge breakfast spread and really good service. Very comfortable place to spend time too.

What was good and what was bad?
The service was uniformly excellent and the location is safe and walkable though a little far from the Centro Historico. The lounge is also excellent. I wasn't impressed with the rooms though.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
It's only 30,000 points a night which is a steal. I'd gladly be back.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked a King Club Intercontinental room for approx. $280 USD (9,500 baht) per night, for two nights. Received upgrade to Ambassador Suite, which goes for $1,400 USD per night (45,000 baht). Note that this was a 2-3 category upgrade, and YMMV since check-in staff were impressed with my command of spoken Thai, and I think that this figured in the upgrade. They also specifically told me that one of their deciding factors in the upgrade was that my Thai girlfriend and 5 year old grandson (who live locally) would be joining me for the stay; they said that since the hotel was not full, they like to be able to give the larger room (100 sqm as opposed to the 45 sqm room that I booked) to a family when possible.

How are the rooms? The hotel is over 30 years old, and there were some signs of wear in the rooms and in the hotel overall, but nothing that detracted from our stay.

How is the exec. lounge? The lounge is very spacious, never felt crowded, and had amazing views (on the 37th floor) of central Bangkok in almost every direction. Food at all times (breakfast, tea, cocktail hour) was excellent and staff were very friendly and professional, plus they went out of their way to interact with the children in the lounge (children under 12 are not allowed in the lounge during cocktail hour, but free drinks and quite good canapes are provided in a bar in the lobby for those with club access who has young children).

What was good and what was bad? Honestly, during my nearly two-month vacation in Thailand in Japan, staying in almost exclusively luxury hotels when I wasn't staying with my girlfriend just outside of Bangkok, the IC Bangkok was by far my favorite hotel experience. The closest I can come to a complaint is that pool was absolutely freezing.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Incredible value for the money. I would stay again in a second, even without the 2-3 category upgrade.
