Which room did you book and which upgrade did you get?
Superior Room with Points during pre-Xmas-season. Got upgraded to Deluxe Room (basically the same room but with nicer valley view)
We were offered breakfast (35 CHF p/P) during check in process, accepted.
How are the rooms?
Warm Chalet style, quality furniture, good Nespresso coffee machine, free to use basic mini bar (with water, coke, beer, Rivella etc..).
Overall the room was very well maintained and very clean. However, the large balcony window front showed ugly signs of half hearted cleaning. Hope this was fixed for high scale Xmas and WEF time ;-)
How is the exec. lounge?
No access granted this time since on points. Club was offered during check-in for 89 CHF minus 20% AMB rebate. I did not opt in since we had evening plans already, also not sure if this was per person or per room/night.
What was good and what was bad?
GOOD
- Great venue and architecture, top notch rooms and furniture, very nice Spa
- Kind and attentive staff. Well managed breakfast in main restaurant (at times this was a chaotic mess in the past).
BAD
- Parking - still too expensive (but I guess this will never change) unless you catch one of the 20 free outside spots.
- Almost forced to book on points since the pre-season rate this time was > 400 CHF per night - that's double the rate of the Seehof, Waldhuus or Belvedere.
Value for Points? Would you return?
Very good value for points. Yes, will return. But only in quiet pre/aft season, never in high season. Still sad that this hotel closes in low season (but clearly see the business need to).
