Hi fellow FTers!
I'm working on updated for the new roll out of Comfort + (C+)
Thanks!

On March 1, 2015, DL rebranded Economy Comfort as "Comfort+."
Delta - Comfort+
dl.com: LINK
Comfort+ FAQ - LINK
Offering:
  • C+ is a complimentary upgrade (space available) for DM and PM after booking. GM can access for free at T-72 and FO at T-24. (There is no longer a discount for GM/FO.)
  • Sky Priority boarding
  • Extra legroom and, on international a/c, extra recline
  • Free wine, spirits and regional craft beers, plus premium snacks
  • Complimentary premium entertainment from Delta Studio™ (No longer relevant as of July 1st; Entertainment now complimentary in Y)
  • On JFK-LAX/SFO flights, a Luvo® sandwich wrap and frozen Greek yogurt bar, pillow, blanket, and sleep kit are included

A few general notes regarding DL C+:
  1. On international a/c, the bulkhead seats often have a significant amount leg room (other than the 764).
  2. The bulkhead and exit row seats are often narrower as the tray table and/or IFE unit are in the arm rests. The arm rests do not move which, coupled with a smaller seat, can be uncomfortable for larger pax.
  3. The first row of regular economy seating after EC IS NOT recommended. The last row of EC has the EC recline and members have reported that there's no extra space between this row and the first row of regular Y.
  4. Selecting C+ Seats - You cannot select or purchase C+ seats until after booking is completed on revenue or award tickets. The UG has to clear as well.
************************************************** ***********
Internationally Configured Aircraft
Per DL, International/transoceanic C+ offers 35" pitch and 6" recline. (LINK)

747-400 / 744 / 74S:
  • dl.com seat map: 747-400
    Rows 22-26 - 42 total C+ seats.
  • Legroom:
Row 22 ABC/HJK and 24 DEFG are the bulkhead seats. 22C/H are noted as having unlimited legroom and some have noted that people can congregate due to the proximity of the lavatories, which are located directly in front of the first row of C+ on the 744. 22ABC have recently received poor reviews because of the lav and galley - people tend to congregate in this area and it can become stinky. Comments on 22K indicate that pax can access the aisle without disturbing other passengers. Also, the lavatory near 22HJK is blocked for BusinessElite pax, so there tends to be fewer disturbances and become less smelly over the course of a long flight. Also, seats 22B and 22J can be used for bassinets.
Some might prefer the legroom of row 35/51 on the 744 with less recline and tray in armrest.

  • dl.com seat maps: 777-200LR / 777-200ER
    Rows 31-34; 36 C+ seats
NOTE: As DL reduced the number of Business Elite seats on the 777s, rows 29-32 are now the C+ seats.
The C+/Economy seats on a/c has winged headrests.
  • Legroom:
Row 29/31 seats are the bulkhead seats and have plenty of leg room. Rows 30-32/32-34 are standard C+ seats with USB and plug power. Row 44 (exit row) has excellent legroom, but no power outlets. The window seat sin this row are narrower because the tray table is in the armrest does not move up. The recline is standard recline.
    IFE:
These a/c are equipped with IFE at each seat.

    C+ is rows 15-18
  • Legroom:
On the 764, the bulkhead seats (row 15) have less leg room than the 763's; there's probably about 2' or so between the edge of the seat and the wall. The bulkhead seats do not have moveable arm rests and the tray table/IFE monitor are in the arm rests. In my experience, I felt like the A332/333 and 763's had better recline in EC than the 764.
  • IFE:
These a/c are equipped with IFE at each seat.

Status Changes:
There have been a couple of questions regarding C+ when a member's status drops down after January 31. Typically, seats will hold unless there is an equipment change. If there's a change, the passenger(s) will most likely be seated in regular economy. There are reports of some success contacting @delta to get reseated in C+.

When are you actually charged for Comfort+ seats? Booked my short-haul flight 2 weeks ago, changed my seats to Comfort+ 1 week ago, and haven't seen the charge yet. Will it hit on the day of travel or when I check in perhaps?

Thanks in advance!

Anyone flown in these seats lately who can comment? They seem to have been blocked until a few hours before the flight. Those are my two favorite Y seats on this plane, but I'd like to get the free drink and better snacks if possible. Flight is in <3 hours.

Thanks in advance.
I fly the M88/M90 both ways on my weekly commute, and also love 10AB. AFAICT, they were still C+ last week, seat covering, free drinks, and all. They may have been blocked for pax wih disabilities, or they may have been cleared by upgrading medallions.

My guess would be that even if DL is somehow not making them C+ (and I have no idea why that would be), the FAs aren't going to skip over that row while servicing 10CDE and rows 11-13. Probably chalk this up to an IT glitch...

I haven't had to pay for C+ in some time, but when helping friends with their flights they are charged immediately for a C+ selection. Seems like it would be immensely confusing to run the charge later, esp. since what you're paying for as FO is the ability to secure the seats earlier (vs. getting them for free at T-24).

Shhhhhhh... Don't talk about it and you might not get charged. Had same thing happen to me a couple of months ago.

That was my thought as well. The seats were showing on DL.com but not on the app. When I went back to select them they no longer showed available, so I kept my seat which was already in C+. Then I got to the gate and the GA booted me out of my C+ seat and into row 1.

I was just reading a post in the UA forum, UA vs DL, where the poster had purchased a Comfort + seat on Delta but the seat wasn't available at check-in. The DL agent's response was that they didn't know what happened to the C+ seat that the passenger had reserved/purchased. Seems like I've seen other poster on the DL forum mention the same. Is this common for DL to allow you to purchase a Comfort + seat at the time of the reservation only to find it gone to someone else at the time of travel?

I get them for free, but I've never had this happen. Sometimes when I select the first row of C+ (4 on A319/320 or 10 on MD88/90) by phone, the phone agent will say something about the possibility of being bumped for disabled passengers. I've never had it happen though.

Ok, my story as I also wrote something in a single thread, but it fits better here I assume. I`m Flying Blue Platinum, german, and booked an Eco ticket via KLM TXL - AMS - DTW - ORD, while AMS - ORD is operated by Delta. I wasn`t able to choose C+ seats while booking and I was also later aware, that my family of four, also travelling on my ticket, could also get this seats for free in the booking period. I called later the Delta hotline in Germany and they said, I would get one, but wasn`t sure about the family. I called the Platinum service line and they were also not sure, but gave me complimentary Economy Comfort seats on the KLM flights, which as really nice and I really appreciated. But he said: "call back tomorrow, when we have more information". On the next day when I called the agent told me, that we would be only eligible, if I would be a Sky Miles Diamond. At this point I was happy with the EC seats from KLM. But in parallel, some days before my first call with Delta, I also sent a message over Facebook to Delta. They answered some days later, that I will get for sure my seats now, booked them in and everything was fine. The next day, the reservations were gone and after another message with Delta they booked them in again and told me to call KLM, as their system is cancelling them. And then this wednesday, as the seats were gone again I phoned KLM again and the nice agent said, that they have different booking systems and so this is the reason, while automatically my reservation is cancelled the whole time. He told me, to contact Delta, let them book it in again and he will try to hold them. Contacted Delta via facebook, they booked, I called and since then the seats seem to be reserved. We will see what happens at the OLCI :-)

Worked perfectly

This past week was the first time that I wound up waiting until T-72 for selecting the C+ seats for our trip to LAS. Flying through ATL on Sunday, there weren't a lot of seats available but was able to get 2 together for each flight. Wasn't sure that I could select both flights at the same time, but that was no problem (which meant that I got to pick the seats before people just flying ATL-LAS.

Was flying home on Wednesday through LAX and it wound up that T-72 was during flight to LAS. No problem using the app to select the seats. In this case, both flights were wide open and remained that way up to the flight and was able to pick the exact seats that we wanted. C+ pretty much filled up on the first flight, but there was absolutely no service at all.

On the flight home from LAX-MCO only 7 of the 26 C+ seats were occupied (I don't think F was filled either). Besides my wife and I there were 5 guys returning from a trip to Alaska. The FA was great. When someone stopped to dump their bag in C+, she asked what seat they were in and then told them to grab their bag and take it with them. Someone else tried to sit in the last row (I don't know if they knew it was C+) and was promptly told to return to their seat. There were plenty of empty seats in the back also (how unusual) and when the lead FA made his announcement he said feel free to move into an empty seat as long as it wasn't in the C+ section.

Used my companion ticket for my wife. Never offered FCM which could have been additional money for DL. It would have to have been very cheap because we had great C+ seats and the 50% bonus MQM would have been zero for my wife.

Don't know how many FC seats on the LAX-MCO before upgrading, but on the ATL-LAS on the way out the board at the gate showed 8 FC and only 5 people on the upgrade list.

Armrest

First, I just want to say that you guys have a wealth of information available on this site, particularly this thread. I do however have a question about the armrest. I've only ever flown with US Airways for transatlantic flights but was able to nab a flight to Brussels for a really great price with Delta. It seems it's worth it to upgrade to Comfort+ for this flight but I've seen some photos floating around where the armrest are immobilized (cannot be raised). Is this a common thing on Delta's planes? I tracked down that we are flying on the 767-300ER 76L if that helps. My friend and I opted for center aisle seats in hopes of having the middle seat to spread out a little more and seems this might be thwarted in both regular economy or EC. Can anyone confirm or deny this? It would be much appreciated, as I would like to know for sure before we upgrade to EC. Thanks in advance!

Not all C+ seats have fixed armrests. The bulkhead ones do and sometimes exit row C+ seats also do. The determining factor is whether the AVOD screen and tray table have to be stored in the seat rather than in the seat ahead or on a wall.

You cannot predict whether a middle seat will remain open in any row and should not select any seat based on the assumption of an empty seat; you can only hope. Many flights are fully booked.

Thanks for the info Carmen. Flight is a little less than 40 days out and I've been watching it like a hawk. But you're right, the flight could fill up at any time.

Usually don't fly Delta and happened to book a C+ seat for a flight next week, does the C+ seats include accelerated security? Or just the early boarding.
