The Official Delta 757-300 Interior Mod Tracking Thread

This thread is about the scope and timeline for cabin mods for the 757-300 and updates to those plans. I have seen the information before, buried with other fleet or 757 updates. However I was unable to find anything current while using the forum search function. I love this aircraft and believe it needs its own thread similar to the 747-400 and 767-300ER.

Can anyone provide an update to the scope and timeline for the 757-300 cabin mod?

As far as I know, DL doesn't have any concrete plans right now to do any mods to the 753s. The focus is on the international fleet at the moment. We might see DL do something in a few years, but right now there is nothing to track.

Plus, the 753s are fairly new aircraft compared to the 80s-build 757s so one should expect
1. the 753s to stay in the fleet until sometime between 2020-2030
2. domestic a/c to begin their mods after the completion of that of the international fleet

Somewhat related, have any FTers sat in seat 1A? The three seat rating sites have varying ratings, ranging from 'yellow' to 'has more leg room'

http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Del...ng_757-300.php

Seat Guru and Seat Maestro even have the number of FC rows wrong.

It's been a long time since I've been on a 753. Which routes are they on nowadays?

Think high density domestic. One can always find a few DTW-MCO.

Delta wouldn't have to spend too much to put AC power + USB in 16 F cabins.

There was a news release about Gogo installing their "Vision" video-on-demand system last year on the 753's. Does anyone know the status of the system and whether it is an on-going service or if it was a one time trial.

They also have a 753(I think?) on LAX-LIH, which I'll be on in a couple of weeks. I was on the same route a couple years ago, still serviced by a 757, and remember being underwhelmed by the condition of the cabin. Anything change for the better since then?

I also remember the GOOD O' DAYS when DL had a 767 (with the Business Elite Cabin) from CVG-HNL. I realize the front cabins have really improved since then, but I'd gladly take a BE cabin over the 757 front cabin any day.

I saw one on MSP/LAX for Sept recently. 11:30 AM departure. I opted for an earlier flight, so I didn't book it.

Just checked - - the return departs LAX at 8:15 AM.

The PMCO First first cabin looks ten times better than the current DL First cabin.

Don't see anything special about the cabin other than the buttmark impressions in the seats.

Looks like a higher quality seat vs the F seat on the DL 757-300s.

I also like this aircraft. I flew one last week and agree a cabin update is needed -- mid-cabin galley with ovens, really? My sense is DL could more effectively utilized the real estate on the plane -- I understand there is a cost to do this and there are other priorities.

At one time there were some posts that this aircraft would be retrofitted to include 1) lie-flat seats in domestic BE and 2) an expanded EC section and would be used exclusively on JFK-LAX/SFO routes to compete against new AA and UA products. Can anyone confirm this or provide an update?

Since the time it was supposed to be introduced, I was hoping to try this but on each case I was flying 753, none of the flight attendants knew anything about the vision upgrade nor seen anything on gogo about it.

I do not know the current status of what's happened with this introduction.

The gogo video service is advertised in Sky magazine, but I haven't been on a 757-300 since they started offering it to see how it works. I'm surprised it hasn't been expanded to other non-AVOD aircraft yet, so maybe the trial isn't as successful as expected.
