Seat 10C on the MD-90 - why does it even exist??

Selected this EC seat for tonight's flight MSP-LGA and while way better than a middle, this aisle seat, albeit with unlimited leg room, was pretty crappy.

It is directly at the end of the 1st class aisle where the aisle then abruptly turns to get around the seat. Every passenger's luggage clipped my legs, every drink cart hit my legs and/or seat. There's no under seat storage though all other seats in the row have it. The curtain for FC rests right on my leg.

I get maximizing the number of seats but this one sure is in an awkward spot...

Pretty much any aisle seat gets bumped by luggage, passengers and carts . That is why I dislike aisle seats to begin with, and that seat in particular.

If 10C didn't exist, there would be similar problems with 11C!

Just board at the end instead of the beginning.

Bad idea... given that this seat has no storage under the seat in front, both items must go in the overheads. You won't have any space left if you board last.

Board as soon as possible, store your stuff, then stand or move to the galley.

Question: Seat 10C on the MD-90 - why does it even exist??

Answer: They can sell it and charge a premium because it is considered Economy Comfort.

That first-row-coach, out-of-line-with-F-aisle seat has existed since DC-9s started flying 49 years ago. One might have thought the OP has had ample time to figure this out.

I agree with you. I'm currently seated in 10C on a MD88 and can attest to all of the things you mentioned in your post. Economy discomfort for sure!

One of my favorite seats.... if 10 D/E are taken. Unfortunate position during boarding but a great seat for a 2 hour flight. I usually board early (due to the overhead bin space issue) then move lift the armrest to my neighbor and scoot in until boarding is done.

'nuff said

That said...love row 10 on the MDs (acres of leg room) but I never pick the aisle seat on the 3-seat side due to that very reason.
