Hi fellow FTers!
I'm working on updated for the new roll out of Comfort + (C+)
Thanks!

On March 1, 2015, DL rebranded Economy Comfort as "Comfort+."
Delta - Comfort+
dl.com: LINK
Comfort+ FAQ - LINK
Offering:
  • C+ is a complimentary upgrade (space available) for DM and PM after booking. GM can access for free at T-72 and FO at T-24. (There is no longer a discount for GM/FO.)
  • Sky Priority boarding
  • Extra legroom and, on international a/c, extra recline
  • Free wine, spirits and regional craft beers, plus premium snacks
  • Complimentary premium entertainment from Delta Studio (No longer relevant as of July 1st; Entertainment now complimentary in Y)
  • On JFK-LAX/SFO flights, a Luvo sandwich wrap and frozen Greek yogurt bar, pillow, blanket, and sleep kit are included

A few general notes regarding DL C+:
  1. On international a/c, the bulkhead seats often have a significant amount leg room (other than the 764).
  2. The bulkhead and exit row seats are often narrower as the tray table and/or IFE unit are in the arm rests. The arm rests do not move which, coupled with a smaller seat, can be uncomfortable for larger pax.
  3. The first row of regular economy seating after EC IS NOT recommended. The last row of EC has the EC recline and members have reported that there's no extra space between this row and the first row of regular Y.
  4. Selecting C+ Seats - You cannot select or purchase C+ seats until after booking is completed on revenue or award tickets. The UG has to clear as well.
************************************************** ***********
Internationally Configured Aircraft
Per DL, International/transoceanic C+ offers 35" pitch and 6" recline. (LINK)

747-400 / 744 / 74S:
  • dl.com seat map: 747-400
    Rows 22-26 - 42 total C+ seats.
  • Legroom:
Row 22 ABC/HJK and 24 DEFG are the bulkhead seats. 22C/H are noted as having unlimited legroom and some have noted that people can congregate due to the proximity of the lavatories, which are located directly in front of the first row of C+ on the 744. 22ABC have recently received poor reviews because of the lav and galley - people tend to congregate in this area and it can become stinky. Comments on 22K indicate that pax can access the aisle without disturbing other passengers. Also, the lavatory near 22HJK is blocked for BusinessElite pax, so there tends to be fewer disturbances and become less smelly over the course of a long flight. Also, seats 22B and 22J can be used for bassinets.
Some might prefer the legroom of row 35/51 on the 744 with less recline and tray in armrest.

    Rows 31-34; 36 C+ seats
NOTE: As DL reduced the number of Business Elite seats on the 777s, rows 29-32 are now the C+ seats.
The C+/Economy seats on a/c has winged headrests.
  • Legroom:
Row 29/31 seats are the bulkhead seats and have plenty of leg room. Rows 30-32/32-34 are standard C+ seats with USB and plug power. Row 44 (exit row) has excellent legroom, but no power outlets. The window seat sin this row are narrower because the tray table is in the armrest does not move up. The recline is standard recline.
    IFE:
These a/c are equipped with IFE at each seat.

  • Legroom:
On the 764, the bulkhead seats (row 15) have less leg room than the 763's; there's probably about 2' or so between the edge of the seat and the wall. The bulkhead seats do not have moveable arm rests and the tray table/IFE monitor are in the arm rests. In my experience, I felt like the A332/333 and 763's had better recline in EC than the 764.

C+ and Priority Boarding/Baggage Allowance:
Passengers in C+ get Sky Priority boarding unless their elite status provides a higher boarding zonemu access. There is no additional baggage allowance unless elite status or fare class provide it.

Status Changes:
There have been a couple of questions regarding C+ when a member's status drops down after January 31. Typically, seats will hold unless there is an equipment change. If there's a change, the passenger(s) will most likely be seated in regular economy. There are reports of some success contacting @delta to get reseated in C+.

The only official announcement I've seen is for transcons but I expect other routes will follow.

I flew on one of those recently and I noticed they have more leg room. It was on a SEA-MSP segment, so not really transcon.

flew EC ATL-PIT a few months ago and in March. Same thing caught me by surprise that my seat assignment was in the red EC zone both times (preferred seating area). Had only seen it before on TATL. But wasnt paying enough attention the second timesee if I was MD88 or MD90. MD90 for that leg is very very rare so I figure its safe to assume MD88. First time it was with my pooch underseat either 737 or 757 (cant remember if we came in behind 1class or through 1class) so I can verify that there was exit row-esque legroom cause I still had space. Second time i had the "bulkhead" with no bulk head first row so I had extra space under the curtain anyway.

I've seen the stickers on a bunch of flights now, but I'm wondering if they just put the stickers there in anticipation of adding the extra legroom. Isn't there supposed to be more recline, too?

The announcement was Transcons would be the first to provide the seats for sale (LAX/SFO-JFK) for the reason that they would be certain to have EC. However they have announced plans to roll out EC to the rest of the fleet but I can't remember a specific timeframe. So far I've had a 757 and A319 with EC. The leg room is actually fairly noticeable, I don't know if I would pay for it but it's a nice option.

I had one, and sat in it, from EWR to ATL a couple weeks ago. Noticeably more legroom. Didn't use the recline, because I was the last row of EC, and the guy behind me was taller than me (I'm 6'1"), and felt bad cramping him. I had tons of room, more than an exit row.

No extra recline on domestic EC, just slightly more legroom. If it has the red stickers then it also has the extra legroom.

None of the non-transcontinental flights show EC on the seat map yet, but more and more already have it installed in preparation for the rollout this summer. It will be on ALL two cabin equipment (including RJs) by mid-summer.

Mods, can we please merge all the EC (domestic and intl) threads and sticky until the rollout is complete?

Per DL's news release....

The new seats will feature pitch of at least 34 inches or more. Delta's standard Economy Class seat pitch is currently 31 inches. In addition to more leg room, customers seated in Economy Comfort will enjoy Priority Boarding.

The product will be installed in the first three-to-five rows of the Economy cabin by removing a negligible number of seats from the current cabin configuration on all of Delta's domestic Boeing 767, 757, 737, MD88, MD90, DC9, Airbus A320 and A319 aircraft, and all two-class regional jets including the CRJ900, CRJ700, E170 and E175 aircraft types by summer 2012. The breadth of this installation means flights to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and northern South America will also offer the Economy Comfort product. The first of these converted aircraft will be a Boeing 757 which will enter service in November.

I booked an award ticket in J to Europe for this summer over the phone. The DL rep, who was extremely helpful, told me the only segment where F/J was not available was MKE-ATL. She said she was putting me in EC. When I went to check on my reservations on the DL site nothing in my seating zone was marked in red. I am thinking perhaps on some routes that EC means the first few rows of Y. I know this makes no sense but I can think of no other reason.

By this summer, most aircraft will have EC configured. But because the conversion is not complete and only just getting under way, the seating does not show up as EC yet on seat maps.

By the time you fly MKE-ATL this summer, if you are in the first 3 rows (or 5 rows, depending on the aircraft type), you will almost certainly be in an EC seat with 34-36" seat pitch instead of 31" as current.

My sister is a FO and flew ATL-LGW (763, Seat 21G) last night. She thought the extra recline was completely worth the $$ she paid.

Thanks for all the reviews.

I booked fairly "late" for an upcoming TATL trip so no exit or bulkhead, but this is helping with the seat decision.

777 TPAC row 31 EC update/warning

After having experienced row 31 C, D, F, G:

Take D or F. there is enough legroom for me. I can also use my carryon as a footrest.

I will never pick C,G anymore. My suspicion about getting stepped on, kicked and run over by the carts turned out to be correct. the aisle curves toward the outside of the plane so part of you foot space is actually the aisle.

There was a plane change from one 772 to another at NRT and all the seat selection was reissued. (DL IT: it is the same type of plane with the exact same seat map.) I lost my favorite 31D and was put into 31C NRT SIN. My foot was stepped on 14 times by the cabin crew and ran over by the cart 5 time. I am 6f tall.

Question for rwoman

Robin, out of all the EC seats in the various AC that you have flown, do you have a favorite? If you had a choice of international routings on different AC, each with all EC seats open, which would you choose?
