Hi fellow FTers!
I'm working on updated for the new roll out of Comfort + (C+)
Thanks!

On March 1, 2015, DL rebranded Economy Comfort as "Comfort+."
Delta - Comfort+
dl.com: LINK
Comfort+ FAQ - LINK
Offering:
  • C+ is a complimentary upgrade (space available) for DM and PM after booking. GM can access for free at T-72 and FO at T-24. (There is no longer a discount for GM/FO.)
  • Sky Priority boarding
  • Extra legroom and, on international a/c, extra recline
  • Free wine, spirits and regional craft beers, plus premium snacks
  • Complimentary premium entertainment from Delta Studio™ (No longer relevant as of July 1st; Entertainment now complimentary in Y)
  • On JFK-LAX/SFO flights, a Luvo® sandwich wrap and frozen Greek yogurt bar, pillow, blanket, and sleep kit are included

A few general notes regarding DL C+:
  1. On international a/c, the bulkhead seats often have a significant amount leg room (other than the 764).
  2. The bulkhead and exit row seats are often narrower as the tray table and/or IFE unit are in the arm rests. The arm rests do not move which, coupled with a smaller seat, can be uncomfortable for larger pax.
  3. The first row of regular economy seating after EC IS NOT recommended. The last row of EC has the EC recline and members have reported that there's no extra space between this row and the first row of regular Y.
  4. Selecting C+ Seats - You cannot select or purchase C+ seats until after booking is completed on revenue or award tickets. The UG has to clear as well.
************************************************** ***********
Internationally Configured Aircraft
Per DL, International/transoceanic C+ offers 35" pitch and 6" recline. (LINK)

747-400 / 744 / 74S:
  • dl.com seat map: 747-400
    Rows 22-26 - 42 total C+ seats.
  • Legroom:
Row 22 ABC/HJK and 24 DEFG are the bulkhead seats. 22C/H are noted as having unlimited legroom and some have noted that people can congregate due to the proximity of the lavatories, which are located directly in front of the first row of C+ on the 744. 22ABC have recently received poor reviews because of the lav and galley - people tend to congregate in this area and it can become stinky. Comments on 22K indicate that pax can access the aisle without disturbing other passengers. Also, the lavatory near 22HJK is blocked for BusinessElite pax, so there tends to be fewer disturbances and become less smelly over the course of a long flight. Also, seats 22B and 22J can be used for bassinets.
Some might prefer the legroom of row 35/51 on the 744 with less recline and tray in armrest.

NOTE: As DL reduced the number of Business Elite seats on the 777s, rows 29-32 are now the C+ seats.
The C+/Economy seats on a/c has winged headrests.
  • Legroom:
Row 29/31 seats are the bulkhead seats and have plenty of leg room. Rows 30-32/32-34 are standard C+ seats with USB and plug power. Row 44 (exit row) has excellent legroom, but no power outlets. The window seat sin this row are narrower because the tray table is in the armrest does not move up. The recline is standard recline.

On the 764, the bulkhead seats (row 15) have less leg room than the 763's; there's probably about 2' or so between the edge of the seat and the wall. The bulkhead seats do not have moveable arm rests and the tray table/IFE monitor are in the arm rests. In my experience, I felt like the A332/333 and 763's had better recline in EC than the 764.

Status Changes:
There have been a couple of questions regarding C+ when a member's status drops down after January 31. Typically, seats will hold unless there is an equipment change. If there's a change, the passenger(s) will most likely be seated in regular economy. There are reports of some success contacting @delta to get reseated in C+.

747 Comfort+ Movable Aisle Armrests

Hi. Does anyone know if the aisle armrests are movable on the 747? Specifically in Comfort+? Row 25 and 26 D and G.

If anyone has actual knowledge, that would be appreciated.

Thanks

Arm rest

All aisle arm rest should flip up if you know where the release button is. (Inside an opening on the bottom)

I just booked a flight on a CRJ (operated by skywest), and instead of clearing into Comfort+ I was "upgraded" to "Premium Economy". My second leg on mainline metal cleared into Comfort+ as expected.

Is this new?

ETA: "Premium Economy" showed up on the "Your Medallion Upgrade Has Now Been Confirmed" email. When I look at "my trips" in delta.dumb, it shows up as "Delta Comfort+ (WU)"

Thanks very much. So you are sure there is a release button on the Delta 747 in all rows? Or just all rows in Comfort+?

I ask since the United 747's have very specific seats in specific rows where the aisle armrests can be raised. Just want to be sure now when most of the aisles in C+ are available.

Thanks again.

Are you referring specifically to the DL 747 (of which I have no recent firsthand experience)?

I normally lift mine when the seatbelt light turns off upon arrival, as it's easier for me to then swing out and collect all my stuff - but I've definitely run into some seats on DL mainline aircraft where I was unable to do so, and I'm usually pretty good at finding that button.

Only twice on DL did I not find any release button and they weren't on the 747's

Gotcha. And yes, the experiences I can remember not finding a button were on narrowbodies.

Thanks for the confirmation. Glad to know that the aisle armrests on the 747 do go up in most rows (bulkhead always excluded).

FIRST, AN C+ BOOKING EXPERIENCE TO SHARE

I've bought a ticket several months ago for a flight coming up in August. A few weeks after booking, there was a Saturday Night Special equipment change for one of my flights.

Originally I had been booked on an MD-88 and had paid $15 for a Comfort+ seat. The change was to a CRJ with no Comfort+ so they put me in a Preferred seat at the bulkhead. Which is fine by me.

This past Saturday night the equipment was changed back to MD-88. But apparently they didn't remember my Comfort+ purchase so they just placed me in a Preferred seat further back. I called and spent 20 minutes on hold with customer support resulting in them restoring me to W-class and assigning me 11C which is an aisle seat in the second row of Comfort+. Good job.

NOW A SEAT-SELECTION QUESTION

I've read the negative comments about 10C on the MD-88 jutting out in the aisle. Be that as it may, I'm a big fan of bulkhead seats especially on planes with the curtain divider. For one thing, nobody is going to recline into my knees.

Has anyone who's done the 10C experience on an MD-88 care to share your experience? I'm tempted to move there. Unfortunately the bulkhead aisle on the 2-seat side is not available. I guess another option would be 10A at the window but I tend not to like window and especially not window on a 3-seat section.

P.S. Of course there are still several Saturdays between now and my trip so I might be back on a CRJ by the time the trip actually begins!

^ on getting your seat back. I haven't been in that specific seat, but have been in that row a few times, and I think the only time it might be an issue is during boarding, and when they roll the beverage cart. You'll also either need to put everything in the overhead or come to an understanding with 10B

Your mention of the boarding/beverage cart thing reminded me of something I'd almost forgotten. Several years ago I did MAN-ATL in a Delta A330-200 where 11C and 11G were the second row of Economy Comfort and they are offset with no seat directly in front. No problem during boarding but I do remember having to watch my toes during beverage and meal services.

But overall that was actually a sweet seat on the 332. I'm probably going to slide myself on up to 10C and take my chances with my big old feet getting stepped on. I don't usually stash any carryon under the seat in front so that's no major loss.

Thanks for jogging my memory.

This is a good, objective take on 10C on the M88/90s.

For a subjective take, I absolutely detest that seat. I seem to take lots of sub-2hr flights on the MDs, so between boarding and drink service, the ratio of time getting smacked with backpacks or dodging the drink cart to actually enjoying the extra legroom is weighted in a way that makes it not worth it. And since you have no underseat storage, you can't wait to board at the end even if you're only carrying on a small backpack/briefcase, because you need to claim an OHB spot.

I also (and this is totally my own preference) feel like 10C is almost too exposed. It feels like you're just kind of hanging out there in the aisle. Nowhere to even tuck your phone/tablet or whatever as there's no seatback pocket you can use unless you share the back of a row 4 aisle with the middle seat next to you.

That said, I'm only about 5'6", so I find an aisle in row 11 or 12 to be quite nice. I do keep an eye on the seat map at T-24 because it seems like the two-seat side of row 10 is held until then.

Good to know. I will check the evening before, even though I will be in UK at the time.

so what is now numbered as row 13, should be the old row 12 with a windowless seat. is that correct?

Yes. Row 13 is (now) the row at the 2nd boarding door on the V2. No window, and seats A and G have a very odd slide-cover contraption that I would not like to sit by.
