Hi fellow FTers!
I'm working on updated for the new roll out of Comfort + (C+)
Thanks!

On March 1, 2015, DL rebranded Economy Comfort as "Comfort+."
Delta - Comfort+
dl.com: LINK
Comfort+ FAQ - LINK
Offering:
  • C+ is a complimentary upgrade (space available) for DM and PM after booking. GM can access for free at T-72 and FO at T-24. (There is no longer a discount for GM/FO.)
  • Sky Priority boarding
  • Extra legroom and, on international a/c, extra recline
  • Free wine, spirits and regional craft beers, plus premium snacks
  • Complimentary premium entertainment from Delta Studio™ (No longer relevant as of July 1st; Entertainment now complimentary in Y)
  • On JFK-LAX/SFO flights, a Luvo® sandwich wrap and frozen Greek yogurt bar, pillow, blanket, and sleep kit are included

A few general notes regarding DL C+:
  1. On international a/c, the bulkhead seats often have a significant amount leg room (other than the 764).
  2. The bulkhead and exit row seats are often narrower as the tray table and/or IFE unit are in the arm rests. The arm rests do not move which, coupled with a smaller seat, can be uncomfortable for larger pax.
  3. The first row of regular economy seating after EC IS NOT recommended. The last row of EC has the EC recline and members have reported that there's no extra space between this row and the first row of regular Y.
  4. Selecting C+ Seats - You cannot select or purchase C+ seats until after booking is completed on revenue or award tickets. The UG has to clear as well.
************************************************** ***********
Internationally Configured Aircraft
Per DL, International/transoceanic C+ offers 35" pitch and 6" recline. (LINK)

747-400 / 744 / 74S:
  • dl.com seat map: 747-400
    Rows 22-26 - 42 total C+ seats.
  • Legroom:
Row 22 ABC/HJK and 24 DEFG are the bulkhead seats. 22C/H are noted as having unlimited legroom and some have noted that people can congregate due to the proximity of the lavatories, which are located directly in front of the first row of C+ on the 744. 22ABC have recently received poor reviews because of the lav and galley - people tend to congregate in this area and it can become stinky. Comments on 22K indicate that pax can access the aisle without disturbing other passengers. Also, the lavatory near 22HJK is blocked for BusinessElite pax, so there tends to be fewer disturbances and become less smelly over the course of a long flight. Also, seats 22B and 22J can be used for bassinets.
Some might prefer the legroom of row 35/51 on the 744 with less recline and tray in armrest.

NOTE: As DL reduced the number of Business Elite seats on the 777s, rows 29-32 are now the C+ seats.
The C+/Economy seats on a/c has winged headrests.
  • Legroom:
Row 29/31 seats are the bulkhead seats and have plenty of leg room. Rows 30-32/32-34 are standard C+ seats with USB and plug power. Row 44 (exit row) has excellent legroom, but no power outlets. The window seat sin this row are narrower because the tray table is in the armrest does not move up. The recline is standard recline.

  • Legroom:
On the 764, the bulkhead seats (row 15) have less leg room than the 763's; there's probably about 2' or so between the edge of the seat and the wall. The bulkhead seats do not have moveable arm rests and the tray table/IFE monitor are in the arm rests. In my experience, I felt like the A332/333 and 763's had better recline in EC than the 764.

Flying to Hawaii in C+:
- From DL's C+ page: 3-4" (7-10 cm) extra legroom/ Up to 50% more recline on select routes (JFK to/from SFO or LAX, and ATL/MSP/or JFK to/from HNL).

C+ and Priority Boarding/Baggage Allowance:
Passengers in C+ get Sky Priority boarding unless their elite status provides a higher boarding zonemu access. There is no additional baggage allowance unless elite status or fare class provide it.

Status Changes:
There have been a couple of questions regarding C+ when a member's status drops down after January 31. Typically, seats will hold unless there is an equipment change. If there's a change, the passenger(s) will most likely be seated in regular economy. There are reports of some success contacting @delta to get reseated in C+.

Pre-May 16 GM access to International C+ with companion

I've done multiple google searches of FT, and read the fine print T&C for SkyMiles and find myself still confused.

I'm flying with my delightful but Kettle partner in about 4 days to Europe, returning before May 16, connecting JFK both ways. Are we relegated to gate-requesting C+? Is it "some time less than 24 hours before departure" to let FOs get at it first?

There was a time when, if I'm not mistaken, you got to chose C+ at your window even with a companion, but that is changing, but there's been so much focus (here and in DLs recent web updates) on after May 16, and domestic that I've lost track of existing C+ rules.

I note that we can buy C+ on both domestic and int'l legs now, at separate prices, which I will pass on. T-4 days or so, there are close to 20 C+ seats open (!!) on the longhaul, and 6 on the CR9 that gets us to JFK.

Much appreciate any insight: Is is T-72 for C+, T-24/OLCI, "less than T-24" as some DL verbiage has it, or gate?

ATL-CTG 738, C+ benefits?

Hi,

I'm flying ATL-CTG this Wednesday on a 738 and was wondering if there are any additional benefits to C+ besides legroom and early boarding? I know this flight already has alcohol and a meal in Economy, and the 738 is lacking Personal IFE. Is the meal the same as normal Economy?

Thanks in advance!

Ah, the good old days of the MD-11.

Now we have 744 retirements galore, MD-88's retiring, and 8 more 757-200s that will be retired soon. Sad.

I can't speak to this specific route but I believe it is treated similar to other long(er)-haul flights to South America. Food and drinks are exactly the same as normal economy but you probably are among the first to be served. If you get an amenity kit, it includes a mini toothbrush and toothpaste, in addition to the eyemask and earplugs in the regular economy kit. Enjoy the trip!

777-200 in EC JFK-NRT. Bulkhead window 29A is open but 29B is occupied. The bulkhead center seats (29DEF) are wide open. Do I take 29D or F and hope no one sits in 29E or stick with 29A for the window lean?

What would you do?

Hey guys. Does anyone know whether seat upgrades are possible in flight, or whether the staff are pernickety about moving seats if you haven't purchased an upgrade? This is a Latin American flight.

Hard sell on comfort + seats

Delta is trying real hard to sell Comfort+ seats. Today I received the usual email telling me I can now check in for tomorrow's flight. The 2nd sentence is "Plus, there's still time to purchase a Delta Comfort+ seat that features three to four more inches of extra legroom and priority boarding"

No thanks Delta; I purchased FC originally and it still shows my bulkhead seats for both flights, so I think I will pass.

IME, there has been announcement of buying CT upgrade when that section is not full. I have also seen pax kicked out of C+ seating.

75H from Hawaii

We're booked to go KOA-LAX-SLC on 9/19/16. Both flights show a 757 and I'm trying to pick the best Comfort+ seats for our party of six (including three kids 3 and under).

The Delta seat map shows First as rows 1-5, then rows 15-17 for Comfort + (only seats A-C in Row 17), and then the lavatory and entry/exit doors.

Seatguru says this aircraft is a 75H and shows row 15 as bulkhead seating, but doesn't indicate the trays are in the armrests. Row 16 D-F is listed as limited recline.

Can anyone confirm whether these descriptions are true?

Quick question...

Are the FAs empowered to "upgrade" passengers to C+?

Light flight this morning and they upgraded 2 passengers to the row behind F (CRJ9) to be with their friend with service animal.

I thought DL wanted to make theC+ "cabin" a more exclusive experience. :/

I'm not sure what has warranted your personal attack.

My presence on this board and FT is extensive. I'm also not one who posted asking how to procure something DL charges for at no cost. As a DL PM, I (thankfully) get free access to C+ seats. So you have two choices for your flight to Latin America: pay for it or earn enough status to get C+.

Any of my posts related to raising funds is in line with the FT Rules and Guidelines. Many FTers follow my ongoing efforts over the past three years.

Here's from the Delta website and FAQs.

Passengers, excluding those who have purchased Basic Economy, may purchase Delta Comfort+ upgrades on board select flights, subject to availability. However, customers may not select complimentary Delta Comfort+ seats while on board, regardless of elite status or fare class. Please ask your flight attendant for further details after takeoff.

763Z v2 C+ quick review with photos

So I lucked out and got to fly in a 76Z v2 in C+ just over a week ago (ship 1502), and snapped a few quick pics.

Comments: I was in 16AB, with no one next to me. Quite comfortable, but for some reason my seats didn't seem to recline quite as much as 16C where my partner was. I tried 17B for a moment as it was empty, and it had less recline than 16, and I think it had a bit more pitch than a regular Y row, maybe 1 more inch? It wouldn't be terrible in other words, but not a first choice for a regular Y seat.

If you like windows, rows 14 and 15 have only one window to share right next to the headrest of 14 (see the first two pics below). Not ideal at all for viewing from either row. I believe there are big air ducts inside the panel, so it is a bit noisier there too.

I didn't try the bulkhead seats in 14CDE (third pic). They look OK but not all that spacious for foot space.
I noticed that the person in 12A moved after takeoff. The emergency slide cover is very odd and protrudes a lot, and lav traffic is very nearby.

We flew home on a 76Z v1, I sat in 17FG, also with an empty seat by me. It is the corresponding last row of C+ as row 16 on the v2, but seemed to have the full C+ recline. It only had one window, but pretty well positioned. Plane 1502 didn't have individual air vents and was a bit warm. Don't know if all six ex-Gulf Air birds lack gaspers? The return v1 plane had them.

Overall, two great TATL flights, with free C+ for both me and my partner at the 72hr window, and he got the middle 3 to himself for 'lie-flat' both ways. I was happy to slouch against the sidewall in a pair to myself. I just really want a window seat even over water - had a great view of the Maine coast, Boston and Long Island on the way in to JFK.

EDIT: To confuse matters more, DL has since renumbered the seats in the V2, with the cabin now starting at row 13. I therefore would have been sitting in what is now numbered row 17. So now rows 15 & 16 are the two that share one window by the headrest of 15.
