If it is a quick turn around then it is possible to do MR. You wont be allowed to pass though the immigration unless you have a transit Visa to Saudi Arabia. I am sure that you could do an online check in for your return journey before starting your journey to Riyadh. Otherwise it could be a bit tricky but not impossible.

One you have a boarding pass for return flight you could get back to departure lounge through transfer desk.

There is Sky Team lounge run by Saudi Airlines which is just OK but can be a bit crowded.

Still Saudi Authorities issue a 72 hour 'Transit' visa. It is free of charge and can be obtained from any Saudi Missions. All they need is confirmed ticket to Exit Saudi Arabia, no matter where to.

Even AAA-RUH-AAA is possible. Saudi Authorities don't care whether it is AAA-RUH-BBB or AAA-RUH-AAA

Yes I will be going from CDG-RUH-CDG.

That is why I am posting, to see if it can be done.

I do not want to exit the airport, only get boarding pass and return.

Taken from Visa Central:

Visa exempt for a stay of up to 8 hours. The traveller must:

•Hold a passport valid for at least 6 months on entry with one blank visa page
•Hold proof of sufficient funds•Hold proof of onward/return flights
•Hold all documents required for the next destination
•Hold visa for next country where applicable
•Confirm with their airline that boarding will be permitted without a visa

But still, what will Saudi officials say or do?

Nothing, you wont get that far, the airline wont let you board, as mentioned, the Saudis will probably not care themselves.

The rules are quite clear

[Visa Information - Transit] Saudi Arabia (SA)

[Information For Normal Passports]

TWOV (Transit Without Visa):
Visa required, except for Holders of onward tickets for a max.
transit [[TIRULES/R32]] time of 18 hours when inbound flight is
operated by Saudi Arabian Airlines; or
Visa required, except for Holders of onward tickets for a max.
transit [[TIRULES/R32]] time of 8 hours when inbound flight is
not operated by Saudi Arabian Airlines.

And here is the definition of rule R32

R32) TWOV
....

Transit Without Visa (TWOV): Passing through an international
transit area of the airport in order to board a connecting (or
to proceed by the same) flight, without entering the country
(i.e. clearing immigration).

Unless stated otherwise, passengers wishing to TWOV must:
- be en-route to a third country (e.g. itinerary TYO-LON-TYO
is not considered TWOV);

- prove that they will continue their journey within the
prescribed period (e.g. hold onward tickets);

- have documents required for entry into the country of
destination and for transit through countries en-route;

- remain in the transit area (airside) or on the aircraft.
Note: TWOV is not intended for those holding stand-by tickets,

You don't have to say anything to Saudi authorities as the transfer desk/counter is before immigration counters. It would be sensible to obtain boarding pass for return leg either at CDG or online. It would make life very easy as Air France officials would check you passport for visa at the boarding gate.

In such case just get a 'Transit' Visa.

CGK

I just did a MR to CGK, and wanted to share my experience on the turn there.

Flight to/from CGK was on ANA. I had about 7 hours in CGK. Arrive 23:30, depart 06:25.

The visa on arrival process was relatively painless. They have a sign indicating that you can pay with a credit card, but that is not accurate. It is 25 USD, cash only. I did not inquire about any other currencies.

The transit hotel is closed until further notice, so do not count on staying there. There's also almost nothing in the way of comfortable places to sleep in the airport.

The ANA check in desk opened at about 04:00. The agent took the 150000 IDR exit fee during check in. I used one of the ATMs in the departure level to get IDR. Some of the ATMs wouldn't work with my card.

The immigration officer did a double-take when he looked at my arrival and departure time, but didn't ask any questions.

The premier lounge is accessible for *A gold. There's not much in the way of food for breakfast. But, it's a nicer place to sit than the terminal.

Ultimately, everything went pretty smoothly.

I'm happy to answer any questions that I didn't address.

In checking other visa requirement sites and phone calls to them, they assure me that there should be no problem.
One requirement is that you confirm with the airline that boarding will be permitted.
Several calls to AF say that there is no problem. Many checked with others to be sure. Was just told by AF that with itinerary in hand I should be able to go to transfer desk for return boarding passes without leaving airside or going through immigration.
Anyone with first hand knowledge of doing that to confirm it?

Of course agents have been known to be wrong too.

Anything else that I should be asking or checking that will relieve me?

BTW not ticketed yet because I want to clear this up.
