Hi fellow FTers!
I'm working on updated for the new roll out of Comfort + (C+)
Thanks!

On March 1, 2015, DL rebranded Economy Comfort as "Comfort+."
Delta - Comfort+
dl.com: LINK
Comfort+ FAQ - LINK
Offering:
  • C+ is a complimentary upgrade (space available) for DM and PM after booking. GM can access for free at T-72 and FO at T-24. (There is no longer a discount for GM/FO.)
  • Sky Priority boarding
  • Extra legroom and, on international a/c, extra recline
  • Free wine, spirits and regional craft beers, plus premium snacks
  • Complimentary premium entertainment from Delta Studio™ (No longer relevant as of July 1st; Entertainment now complimentary in Y)
  • On JFK-LAX/SFO flights, a Luvo® sandwich wrap and frozen Greek yogurt bar, pillow, blanket, and sleep kit are included

A few general notes regarding DL C+:
  1. On international a/c, the bulkhead seats often have a significant amount leg room (other than the 764).
  2. The bulkhead and exit row seats are often narrower as the tray table and/or IFE unit are in the arm rests. The arm rests do not move which, coupled with a smaller seat, can be uncomfortable for larger pax.
  3. The first row of regular economy seating after EC IS NOT recommended. The last row of EC has the EC recline and members have reported that there's no extra space between this row and the first row of regular Y.
  4. Selecting C+ Seats - You cannot select or purchase C+ seats until after booking is completed on revenue or award tickets. The UG has to clear as well.
************************************************** ***********
Internationally Configured Aircraft
Per DL, International/transoceanic C+ offers 35" pitch and 6" recline. (LINK)

747-400 / 744 / 74S:
  • dl.com seat map: 747-400
    Rows 22-26 - 42 total C+ seats.
  • Legroom:
Row 22 ABC/HJK and 24 DEFG are the bulkhead seats. 22C/H are noted as having unlimited legroom and some have noted that people can congregate due to the proximity of the lavatories, which are located directly in front of the first row of C+ on the 744. 22ABC have recently received poor reviews because of the lav and galley - people tend to congregate in this area and it can become stinky. Comments on 22K indicate that pax can access the aisle without disturbing other passengers. Also, the lavatory near 22HJK is blocked for BusinessElite pax, so there tends to be fewer disturbances and become less smelly over the course of a long flight. Also, seats 22B and 22J can be used for bassinets.
Some might prefer the legroom of row 35/51 on the 744 with less recline and tray in armrest.

    Rows 31-34; 36 C+ seats
NOTE: As DL reduced the number of Business Elite seats on the 777s, rows 29-32 are now the C+ seats.
The C+/Economy seats on a/c has winged headrests.
  • Legroom:
Row 29/31 seats are the bulkhead seats and have plenty of leg room. Rows 30-32/32-34 are standard C+ seats with USB and plug power. Row 44 (exit row) has excellent legroom, but no power outlets. The window seat sin this row are narrower because the tray table is in the armrest does not move up. The recline is standard recline.
    IFE:
These a/c are equipped with IFE at each seat.

  • Legroom:
On the 764, the bulkhead seats (row 15) have less leg room than the 763's; there's probably about 2' or so between the edge of the seat and the wall. The bulkhead seats do not have moveable arm rests and the tray table/IFE monitor are in the arm rests. In my experience, I felt like the A332/333 and 763's had better recline in EC than the 764.
  • IFE:
These a/c are equipped with IFE at each seat.

Flying to Hawaii in C+:
- From DL's C+ page: 3-4" (7-10 cm) extra legroom/ Up to 50% more recline on select routes (JFK to/from SFO or LAX, and ATL/MSP/or JFK to/from HNL).

C+ and Priority Boarding/Baggage Allowance:
Passengers in C+ get Sky Priority boarding unless their elite status provides a higher boarding zonemu access. There is no additional baggage allowance unless elite status or fare class provide it.

Status Changes:
There have been a couple of questions regarding C+ when a member's status drops down after January 31. Typically, seats will hold unless there is an equipment change. If there's a change, the passenger(s) will most likely be seated in regular economy. There are reports of some success contacting @delta to get reseated in C+.

I did this the other day at SJU. First try, 90 mins prior to departure the G.A. said he'd make his best effort to not put me in a middle seat, so I didn't go for it.

Once boarding commenced, and the G.A. was not handling any other pax at the desk, I approached again and asked nicely, and he gave me a C+ aisle seat with an empty next to me. It seemed like he was able to clear all non-elite standbys into regular Y seats (incl a pretty empty exit row block). YMMV.

Delta Comfort+ on Partner Award

If I book an award ticket on Delta in economy using a partner's miles (i.e. Korean, KLM...), and I have Delta Medallion status will I be eligible for Comfort+ seats, as they do say they give complimentary Comfort + seats for award tickets (http://www.delta.com/content/www/en_...s.html#comfort), but I'm not sure if that's just award tickets booked using Delta miles or it would apply to award tickets on Delta booked using a partner's miles as well. Does anyone know?

I flew JFK-SJU for Thanksgiving, and the C+ section had no hard bulkhead at row 10...amazing leg room! The plane also had 6 rows of the older, grey "Economy Comfort" branded headrests (though the seat map only showed 3 rows). I was just eyeballing it of course, but I was slightly dubious that the back 3 rows of 'EC' had quite as much legroom.

We got a tiny turkey and cheese bun and a fun size kitkat bar in a plastic bag sort of shoved at us right after drink service. No snack basket pass, though they had one in the F cabin. The F.A.s weren't unfriendly, exactly, but they didn't seem interested in offering any more than Y cabin service in C+. I think some crews don't get DL's business model for C+, given the price difference some pax are paying!

All seats had IFE and power. The F (or as DL called it, 'business') seats had very thick seatbacks and large IFE screens. F recline was poor (I FCM'd on the way down. Food and service were excellent). Anyway, being MSP based I (thankfully!) rarely fly 737s, not sure what type this was??
These are the refurbished 737-800. They started by doing these mods to the 738 (the one without PTVs) and are almost done with them, now they are converting the 73H version as well. The conversion process was a bit slow at the beginning, but they have gone a bit faster now.

See more info in the ongoing thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...ds-thread.html

Your Delta SM number would have to be attached to the PNR, and I don't know whether it would be possible to switch the FF# to the Delta one since the redeemed miles would be from a partner airline.

Just used my new strategy, executed it to a T and it worked out.

I'm on a transcon to JFK on Sunday. I saw Comfort+ filling up on my 75S and I was in an exit row window. As there were only a couple of window or aisle seats left in Comfort+ I went into Delta Mobile App and removed my upgrade request for Comfort+.

This afternoon I noticed there was still 1 window seat open and two other seats had been taken which made me believe the Silver Medallion upgrades had processed. With one window seat open, I went to Delta.com and re-requested an upgrade to Comfort+. My assumption was that if I didn't get it right away I would just disable it again. Well, sure enough, my upgrade processed immediately so I was able to snag the window seat.

I don't fly DL often (I'm Silver through MM status), nor do I live in the US right now. But going forward this will be my game plan. I'm sure many others have already thought of this but maybe it will help one or two of you.

Hopefully DL finally rolls out the option to not get "upgraded" to a middle seat in Comfort+ so that this becomes less of an issue.

Cheers,
RM

PS - on this flight it was offering me a $59 upgrade fee since I bought the ticket in "T" class. A day ago it lowered the upgrade fee to $24 which also gave me hope that Silvers would get upgraded on the flight. So really the upgrade to WU only saved me $24 but it's still 'free'.

I didn't see this in the wiki, but I just booked LAX-HND, waitlisted for a GUC on the outbound (cleared already on the return), but it won't let me choose a C+ seat, says I'm waitlisted for that 'upgrade' too?? I thought these cleared right away for DM/PM? I called and the DM line said it's different for international...there are 28 seats in C+ available now. Any thoughts? I've unchecked and rechecked the ug box to no avail Thanks!

I had this issue on an ATL-ICN flight that was booked this week. Appeared to be inventory available as all comfort+ seats were open.

I spoke with four agents on the medallion line. It wasn't until I filed a complaint on Delta via "Complaint-SkyMiles Account-Medallion Program-Benefits" that I was processed into comfort+ seats for the MRS and I. Delta determined that there was a bug that couldn't be solved.

Out of curiosity, what does the website say for upgrade availability into comfort+ for other departure days? If it says "upgrade eligible to Delta Comfort" where there are many open seats, you might have a bug.

Thanks for the tip and confirmation it may be a bug! I was originally booked the day prior, upgraded to C+ no problem, but called in the >24 hrs to push it back a day, didn't realize they didn't put me in C+. I will try calling again, because 1st agent yesterday said she needed to check something and went away for 10 mins before coming back with "oh it's different for international, you're on the waitlist"....

Did your plan above this morning before the 24 hour FO upgrade window and was able to get a C+ window seat. Appreciate you posting this for others to use!

I am on an interary that includes outbound JFK-PRG and inbound AMS-BOS. This was done through a travel agent. I suspect the ticket is probably the lowest category, maybe not. Would giving Delta a call be the best way to find out if I can upgrade to Comfort+ seating?

Does Comfort Plus seating give you priority boarding?

If you look at your reservation there may be a place where you can buy a C+ seat, either on the main reservation page or when you look at the seat map. If not, you can call.

Yes, C+ plus puts you in a higher boarding priority group, after:

People with disabilities who need extra time
Families with children <2 or in car seats
Delta One & Diamond medallions
Platinum and Gold medallions - C+ pax board with PM & GM, or immediately after; I can't recall which.

Alcoholic Beverages

Do they limit you to one alcoholic beverage in Comfort+ or is it similar to F where you can have multiple drinks (especially on a transcon)?
