Hi fellow FTers!
I'm working on updated for the new roll out of Comfort + (C+)
Thanks!

On March 1, 2015, DL rebranded Economy Comfort as "Comfort+."
Delta - Comfort+
dl.com: LINK
Comfort+ FAQ - LINK
Offering:
  • C+ is a complimentary upgrade (space available) for DM and PM after booking. GM can access for free at T-72 and FO at T-24. (There is no longer a discount for GM/FO.)
  • Sky Priority boarding
  • Extra legroom and, on international a/c, extra recline
  • Free wine, spirits and regional craft beers, plus premium snacks
  • Complimentary premium entertainment from Delta Studio™ (No longer relevant as of July 1st; Entertainment now complimentary in Y)
  • On JFK-LAX/SFO flights, a Luvo® sandwich wrap and frozen Greek yogurt bar, pillow, blanket, and sleep kit are included

A few general notes regarding DL C+:
  1. On international a/c, the bulkhead seats often have a significant amount leg room (other than the 764).
  2. The bulkhead and exit row seats are often narrower as the tray table and/or IFE unit are in the arm rests. The arm rests do not move which, coupled with a smaller seat, can be uncomfortable for larger pax.
  3. The first row of regular economy seating after EC IS NOT recommended. The last row of EC has the EC recline and members have reported that there's no extra space between this row and the first row of regular Y.
  4. Selecting C+ Seats - You cannot select or purchase C+ seats until after booking is completed on revenue or award tickets. The UG has to clear as well.
************************************************** ***********
Internationally Configured Aircraft
Per DL, International/transoceanic C+ offers 35" pitch and 6" recline. (LINK)

747-400 / 744 / 74S:
  • dl.com seat map: 747-400
    Rows 22-26 - 42 total C+ seats.
  • Legroom:
Row 22 ABC/HJK and 24 DEFG are the bulkhead seats. 22C/H are noted as having unlimited legroom and some have noted that people can congregate due to the proximity of the lavatories, which are located directly in front of the first row of C+ on the 744. 22ABC have recently received poor reviews because of the lav and galley - people tend to congregate in this area and it can become stinky. Comments on 22K indicate that pax can access the aisle without disturbing other passengers. Also, the lavatory near 22HJK is blocked for BusinessElite pax, so there tends to be fewer disturbances and become less smelly over the course of a long flight. Also, seats 22B and 22J can be used for bassinets.
Some might prefer the legroom of row 35/51 on the 744 with less recline and tray in armrest.

  • dl.com seat maps: 777-200LR / 777-200ER
    Rows 31-34; 36 C+ seats
NOTE: As DL reduced the number of Business Elite seats on the 777s, rows 29-32 are now the C+ seats.
The C+/Economy seats on a/c has winged headrests.
  • Legroom:
Row 29/31 seats are the bulkhead seats and have plenty of leg room. Rows 30-32/32-34 are standard C+ seats with USB and plug power. Row 44 (exit row) has excellent legroom, but no power outlets. The window seat sin this row are narrower because the tray table is in the armrest does not move up. The recline is standard recline.
    IFE:
These a/c are equipped with IFE at each seat.

  • Legroom:
On the 764, the bulkhead seats (row 15) have less leg room than the 763's; there's probably about 2' or so between the edge of the seat and the wall. The bulkhead seats do not have moveable arm rests and the tray table/IFE monitor are in the arm rests. In my experience, I felt like the A332/333 and 763's had better recline in EC than the 764.
  • IFE:

Flying to Hawaii in C+:
- From DL's C+ page: 3-4" (7-10 cm) extra legroom/ Up to 50% more recline on select routes (JFK to/from SFO or LAX, and ATL/MSP/or JFK to/from HNL).

C+ and Priority Boarding/Baggage Allowance:
Passengers in C+ get Sky Priority boarding unless their elite status provides a higher boarding zonemu access. There is no additional baggage allowance unless elite status or fare class provide it.

Status Changes:
There have been a couple of questions regarding C+ when a member's status drops down after January 31. Typically, seats will hold unless there is an equipment change. If there's a change, the passenger(s) will most likely be seated in regular economy. There are reports of some success contacting @delta to get reseated in C+.

Asked on the 764 issues we've been discussing, I thin there's an IT glitch somewhere.

So, keeping in mind the 764 bulkhead is free, would you take it and be happy? Or would you still pay for another EC seat? We have 15AB JFK-LHR

Anyone fly on the 737-700s (77W) lately?

Also, trying to clarify the 75Vs (Hawaii fleet). I believe this is what I'll have LAX-LIH, from what I can tell. From reading here and a.net, sounds like the 75Vs have completed the EC update. The reason I'm asking is I'm sitting in 23, which on some EC 757s would be the worst seat since it's the first row of economy behind EC...

Thanks!

(In rememberance of the DC10s we used to fly to the islands...and MKE-MSP for that matter!)

Bulkhead row not EC?

Anyone know why the bulkhead row (row 15) of the 767-400ER from ATL-MUC shows up as a non-EC row? On Seatguru, it is an EC row, and is in fact "green" due to the extra legroom, etc. On the Delta seat selection chart, the row is non-EC (and hence, free of charge), but the 4 rows behind it are EC.

Row 15 is still EC.

The seat map appears corrected on all of my upcoming trips - row 15 is green again.

I would double check selecting 15A held since the seat map has reverted back to normal.

Unhappy TATL Economy (dis)Comfort

Flew on 2012-02-02 on DL80 from ATL-BRU, on a 763, in EC. Seats were decent, and had a noticeable amount of additional pitch (legroom) compared to usual Y seats.

Flew on 2012-02-06 on DL57 from AMS-ATL, on a 333, in EC. Seats were also comfortable (with nicer headrests than the ones on the 763), but the seat pitch was *terrible*. I sat in 12J, companion was in 12H. We noticed when we sat down that the row 11 seats seemed closer than we expected. Before exiting the plane, I used a headphone cable to measure the seat pitch: it was 34". This means that it is approximately one *whole* inch more than the standard seat pitch in Y on that plane. It is true that the Delta websites says "*up to* four additional inches of legroom", so one inch falls within that statement... but if I had actually paid the premium for EC on this flight I would have demanded a refund. The additional seatback recline is nice, but not as valuable as the increased seat pitch.

In addition, choosing rows 10-14 on this plane for EC seems to be a terrible idea, because there is extremely little overhead storage for most of these seats. Seats 10A-B and 10H-J have no underseat storage (they are exit row/door seats). Seats 12C-D and 12F-G have the same issue (bulkhead). Seats 11A, 12A, 11J and 12J have no underseat storage, because the space underneath the seat in front is completely filled by the AVOD electronics box. Out of the first 16 seats in EC, 10 of them have *zero* underseat storage. On top of that, the grand total of overhead space for these sixteen seats is 4 half-length bins and 2 full-length bins (and the center row bins are not deep enough for a decent size rolling suitcase). We boarded towards the middle of the Sky Priority group (another story there... terrible gate crowd handling at AMS) and when we got to our seats there were passengers seated in all of rows 10 and 11, 12A-G and some of row 13... and all overhead bins back to row 14 were already full.

Granted, we made it home, and that is Delta's primary goal, but marketing these seats as 'preferred' for frequent fliers seems ridiculous.

I may be mistaken, but on some aircraft (including I think the A333s), they didn't take any rows out and instead took away an inch or two from the non-EC seats. On the A333s, the seat pitch was reportedly 31" to 33". I think the max now outside of EC is 32" so you may have received 2 or 3" more than the other seats. Did you happen to measure the non-EC seats?

Think how you'd feel if you'd paid extra for them. As for "we made it home..." it seems like both Delta and its apologists count any flight that doesn't kill you as a success. I feel your pain.

No, I didn't... I suppose that would have been wise but I was concerned about it looking weird :-)

I was going by the map page on SeatGuru that says "31-33" inches for the standard Economy seats; maybe that's inaccurate like the "38" inches for EC is.

We shouldn't have to troll boutique websites to pin down what seat pitch we MIGHT actually confront for extra $ on a trans-oceanic run.

The lack of any EC uniformity should be a bigger issue.

I feared the "hype" about EC would outstrip reality. It is a regular coach seat with slightly more leg room. That is the only expectation you should have. I read here about getting "upgraded" to EC and had to laugh. 99% of the flying public could not tell the difference if they looked quickly. The free booze is a nice touch but there should be no illusion: EC = Coach.
