Hi fellow FTers!
I'm working on updated for the new roll out of Comfort + (C+)
Thanks!

On March 1, 2015, DL rebranded Economy Comfort as "Comfort+."
Delta - Comfort+
dl.com: LINK
Comfort+ FAQ - LINK
Offering:
  • C+ is a complimentary upgrade (space available) for DM and PM after booking. GM can access for free at T-72 and FO at T-24. (There is no longer a discount for GM/FO.)
  • Sky Priority boarding
  • Extra legroom and, on international a/c, extra recline
  • Free wine, spirits and regional craft beers, plus premium snacks
  • Complimentary premium entertainment from Delta Studio™ (No longer relevant as of July 1st; Entertainment now complimentary in Y)
  • On JFK-LAX/SFO flights, a Luvo® sandwich wrap and frozen Greek yogurt bar, pillow, blanket, and sleep kit are included

A few general notes regarding DL C+:
  1. On international a/c, the bulkhead seats often have a significant amount leg room (other than the 764).
  2. The bulkhead and exit row seats are often narrower as the tray table and/or IFE unit are in the arm rests. The arm rests do not move which, coupled with a smaller seat, can be uncomfortable for larger pax.
  3. The first row of regular economy seating after EC IS NOT recommended. The last row of EC has the EC recline and members have reported that there's no extra space between this row and the first row of regular Y.
  4. Selecting C+ Seats - You cannot select or purchase C+ seats until after booking is completed on revenue or award tickets. The UG has to clear as well.
************************************************** ***********
Internationally Configured Aircraft
Per DL, International/transoceanic C+ offers 35" pitch and 6" recline. (LINK)

747-400 / 744 / 74S:
  • dl.com seat map: 747-400
    Rows 22-26 - 42 total C+ seats.
  • Legroom:
Row 22 ABC/HJK and 24 DEFG are the bulkhead seats. 22C/H are noted as having unlimited legroom and some have noted that people can congregate due to the proximity of the lavatories, which are located directly in front of the first row of C+ on the 744. 22ABC have recently received poor reviews because of the lav and galley - people tend to congregate in this area and it can become stinky. Comments on 22K indicate that pax can access the aisle without disturbing other passengers. Also, the lavatory near 22HJK is blocked for BusinessElite pax, so there tends to be fewer disturbances and become less smelly over the course of a long flight. Also, seats 22B and 22J can be used for bassinets.
Some might prefer the legroom of row 35/51 on the 744 with less recline and tray in armrest.

    Rows 31-34; 36 C+ seats
NOTE: As DL reduced the number of Business Elite seats on the 777s, rows 29-32 are now the C+ seats.
The C+/Economy seats on a/c has winged headrests.
  • Legroom:
Row 29/31 seats are the bulkhead seats and have plenty of leg room. Rows 30-32/32-34 are standard C+ seats with USB and plug power. Row 44 (exit row) has excellent legroom, but no power outlets. The window seat sin this row are narrower because the tray table is in the armrest does not move up. The recline is standard recline.
    IFE:
These a/c are equipped with IFE at each seat.

    C+ is rows 15-18
  • Legroom:
On the 764, the bulkhead seats (row 15) have less leg room than the 763's; there's probably about 2' or so between the edge of the seat and the wall. The bulkhead seats do not have moveable arm rests and the tray table/IFE monitor are in the arm rests. In my experience, I felt like the A332/333 and 763's had better recline in EC than the 764.
  • IFE:
These a/c are equipped with IFE at each seat.

Flying to Hawaii in C+:
- From DL's C+ page: 3-4" (7-10 cm) extra legroom/ Up to 50% more recline on select routes (JFK to/from SFO or LAX, and ATL/MSP/or JFK to/from HNL).

C+ and Priority Boarding/Baggage Allowance:
Passengers in C+ get Sky Priority boarding unless their elite status provides a higher boarding zonemu access. There is no additional baggage allowance unless elite status or fare class provide it.

Status Changes:
There have been a couple of questions regarding C+ when a member's status drops down after January 31. Typically, seats will hold unless there is an equipment change. If there's a change, the passenger(s) will most likely be seated in regular economy. There are reports of some success contacting @delta to get reseated in C+.

You don't get free drinks in EC domestic (exception may be to Haiwaii). There have been reports of the movies being free in Domestic EC though, so if the aircraft is equipped that could be anadvantage.

I flew DTW/ORD Friday on either a a319 or a320 and decided to give EC (row 5) a shot. I think the seat and while I didn't measure the pitch, the leg room didn't seem as good in EC as the exit row.

Fortunately I didn't have to sit there long though because the GA came on board and moved up front. One nice thing about EC, such as my case Friday, is if you think you have a shot at being moved up front after boarding it is more convenient. There was no bin space up front (which I am blaming the FA for since she was allowing uniformed people that boarded last and sat in Y to just use the first class bins since the bins up front were full). It was a lot more conveient just walking back a couple rows to get my bag instead of having to walk back to the exit row to retrieveit

Alright, I'm currently sitting in 10D on a 737-800 (Bulkhead). Do NOT book EC in row 10 unless its the aisle seat (unlimited leg room due to the cut out). There is no improvement in leg room against a standard economy bulkhead.

There is a noticeable difference in recline though, and I think the seat is comfortable (and I had a 12 hour flight in Economy before this one)!

Happy seat picking ya'll.

I have an upcoming JFK-KEF flight and return with a companion. They are on the 757-200. A couple of questions...

1. Do the EC seats get more free IFE selections than the regular Y seats? It appears they do on domestic flights but it's not clear from the posts here whether they do on international.

2. There are not two seats together in the EC section on either flight. Would 18 D and E be OK for two pax traveling together? Can a 5'11" person fully stretch one's legs in those seats?

3. On one flight the only EC aisle is in row 22, the last row of EC. How badly will it impinge row 23 if fully reclined. I do care if I am making the pax behind me miserable, so don't tell me to not worry about it.

From what I have read elsewhere it sounds like op-ups on that route aren't unusual, so hopefully all of this becomes a moot point.

Flying to BOG... One way is via ATL and the other JFK.
Is it worth paying the $40 each way or just reserving an exit row? Never flown EC on these flights.
Thanks!

Just something to consider - I've flown several leisure-type routes lately where there were few medallions to populate the EC section. Instead, EC turned into a large block of seats left empty in advance and redistributed to all of the families with children that wanted to be moved together at the gate.

The EC section on a recent FCA-MSP A320 flight I took consisted of me on an award ticket, two unaccompanied minors, and four families with lap children. As loud as it was up front, the exit row may have been a superior seat.

So Delta is charging an FO to sit in EC and they will move UM's and lapheld infants up there for free? If I was an FO or a non-status paying for EC and that occured, I would be demanding a refund.

Video Review

We did a video review of the 777 Int'l Economy Comfort seats and found row 31 to be the big winner here. Legroom and easy aisle access from any seat made a huge difference. 32 wasn't bad but a bit harder to climb over bulky pax to get out when you're on the window:

That was my thought as well. I booked it free inside the 24-hour window as an FO (not eligible for upgrade on an award ticket), so I don't really have a gripe. I'd be pretty unhappy if I was non-status and paid for the space that was then given away to countless others, though - particularly if it was mostly crying babies and misbehaving UMs, such as that specific flight.

FO's can select the seats for free at check-in, which would have been before the gate agent redistributed familes and/or UM's.

I forgot that FO's could book for free at check in. Even so moving up infants for free is unfair to the people sitting up there regardless of if they are no-status and paid to be up front or if it's someone that is sitting up there due to their status with Delta. People want to sit in Economy COMFORT because it should be more relaxing. I just hope Delta doesn't start upgrading people like that on the rare occassion there is an open seat in First (I did see them move a UM up on LAX/DTW redeye once but the kid was very well behaved and slept most of the flight).

I haven't flown international in EC yet but a friend that did recently said the FA's were strict on his flight about enforcing it. A couple poachers tried moving into unclaimed seats and the FA's made them move back to their seats.

IME EC is closely guarded on Intl flights and very casual on domestic. There are more perks besides the seat in Intl EC.

True such as free drinks And IIRC, golds and silvers can't select EC in international for free upon upgrade either. I would hope if Delta is going to allow anyone to sit in unclaimed EC seats it would be golds and FO's that would get moved up first not families sitting apart that want to sit together.

Intl EC also have more legroom. One row of seats is actually removed. So the four rows of EC occupied the same room as five row before. Domestic it is just extra recline.

If I don't get the bulkhead aisle 18 out of 20 TPAC/TATL flights I had an empty seat next to me.

I have seen GM begging FA for an empty middle EC seat and was told "Not possible"
