Hi fellow FTers!
I'm working on updated for the new roll out of Comfort + (C+)
Thanks!

On March 1, 2015, DL rebranded Economy Comfort as "Comfort+."
Delta - Comfort+
dl.com: LINK
Comfort+ FAQ - LINK
Offering:
  • C+ is a complimentary upgrade (space available) for DM and PM after booking. GM can access for free at T-72 and FO at T-24. (There is no longer a discount for GM/FO.)
  • Sky Priority boarding
  • Extra legroom and, on international a/c, extra recline
  • Free wine, spirits and regional craft beers, plus premium snacks
  • Complimentary premium entertainment from Delta Studio™ (No longer relevant as of July 1st; Entertainment now complimentary in Y)
  • On JFK-LAX/SFO flights, a Luvo® sandwich wrap and frozen Greek yogurt bar, pillow, blanket, and sleep kit are included

A few general notes regarding DL C+:
  1. On international a/c, the bulkhead seats often have a significant amount leg room (other than the 764).
  2. The bulkhead and exit row seats are often narrower as the tray table and/or IFE unit are in the arm rests. The arm rests do not move which, coupled with a smaller seat, can be uncomfortable for larger pax.
  3. The first row of regular economy seating after EC IS NOT recommended. The last row of EC has the EC recline and members have reported that there's no extra space between this row and the first row of regular Y.
  4. Selecting C+ Seats - You cannot select or purchase C+ seats until after booking is completed on revenue or award tickets. The UG has to clear as well.
************************************************** ***********
Internationally Configured Aircraft
Per DL, International/transoceanic C+ offers 35" pitch and 6" recline. (LINK)

747-400 / 744 / 74S:
  • dl.com seat map: 747-400
    Rows 22-26 - 42 total C+ seats.
  • Legroom:
Row 22 ABC/HJK and 24 DEFG are the bulkhead seats. 22C/H are noted as having unlimited legroom and some have noted that people can congregate due to the proximity of the lavatories, which are located directly in front of the first row of C+ on the 744. 22ABC have recently received poor reviews because of the lav and galley - people tend to congregate in this area and it can become stinky. Comments on 22K indicate that pax can access the aisle without disturbing other passengers. Also, the lavatory near 22HJK is blocked for BusinessElite pax, so there tends to be fewer disturbances and become less smelly over the course of a long flight. Also, seats 22B and 22J can be used for bassinets.
Some might prefer the legroom of row 35/51 on the 744 with less recline and tray in armrest.

    Rows 31-34; 36 C+ seats
NOTE: As DL reduced the number of Business Elite seats on the 777s, rows 29-32 are now the C+ seats.
The C+/Economy seats on a/c has winged headrests.
  • Legroom:
Row 29/31 seats are the bulkhead seats and have plenty of leg room. Rows 30-32/32-34 are standard C+ seats with USB and plug power. Row 44 (exit row) has excellent legroom, but no power outlets. The window seat sin this row are narrower because the tray table is in the armrest does not move up. The recline is standard recline.
    IFE:
These a/c are equipped with IFE at each seat.

    C+ is rows 15-18
  • Legroom:
On the 764, the bulkhead seats (row 15) have less leg room than the 763's; there's probably about 2' or so between the edge of the seat and the wall. The bulkhead seats do not have moveable arm rests and the tray table/IFE monitor are in the arm rests. In my experience, I felt like the A332/333 and 763's had better recline in EC than the 764.
  • IFE:
These a/c are equipped with IFE at each seat.

Status Changes:
There have been a couple of questions regarding C+ when a member's status drops down after January 31. Typically, seats will hold unless there is an equipment change. If there's a change, the passenger(s) will most likely be seated in regular economy. There are reports of some success contacting @delta to get reseated in C+.

Do you know if the window side armrest goes up on these planes? My husband is a larger man so the extra legroom would be welcome but I'm worried about him not fitting in the narrower seat.

Also, do you think there will be other economy comfort passengers willing to switch with us if he doesn't fit? I've been watching for other EC seats to open up but so far no luck.

Been trying to find some answers, but I can't find them. I'm traveling on the Airbus A330-200 (A3L2) for nearly 11 hours. We are currently in row 11HJ in economy comfort and I have read here that on the old 332 version there was equipment under the seat in front and that you had less legroom than in regular economy. I am slightly worried those boxes will still be there and I won't be able to put my legs anywhere. Can anyone give me some info on that? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks a lot and happy flying all.

Is there any anecdotal experience about EC seats becoming cheaper closer to departure?

I booked a ticket YVR-SEA-ICN for November during the mistake sale in April (?). At first Delta was asking $140 SEA-ICN for EC, but recently after a schedule change I checked and they were asking for $128 SEA-ICN? Can I expect the price to drop further before departure?

Is there a preferred time frame to buy the EC seat?

On rare occassions, they might put them on sale; I think I've only seen it a couple of times since EC was introduced.

The catch of waiting close in to departure is a desirable seat might not be open.

With the modifications and new IFE system, I believe the boxes went away.

My experience on international flights and West to East USA, the EC seats get more expensive as the flight comes closer. Not only this year, but I've experienced it on my past flights too. Last time they were on sale for a short period of time, but that was 6+ months from departure.

Just got back from our trip, after flying EC on Delta A3L3. I think we can safely ignore Seat Guru's claims that leg room is compromised in row 10, as per the photos below. My wife and I were in 10A and B. As you can see, plenty of leg room, and the width, even with the fixed arm rests, is not too bad either. Screens fold out from the armrests.

Interestingly, I checked again - and the equipment had changed from 763's to A332's! And the price dropped a whole $1(!!!)

Now down to $127 from $128 (previously $140 - all prices in CAD). This is quite interesting.

Thanks Zimbonic! We've heard good reports about row 10, it'll be interesting to see what people say about the non-bulkhead rows. I know there was a report in an another thread criticizing the legroom and recline in the A330 (compared to the 767s), and I'd love to get more data points.

This might not be the right thread, but I'll ask here to start. The DL.com EC comparison page clearly lists complimentary EC on KLM flights as a benefit for Delta DMs and PMs. In the fine print it says,
Except with respect to Basic Economy fares, SkyMiles Medallions and select partner airline elite members and up to eight companions traveling on the same reservation may be eligible for discounts on Economy Comfort seating fees based on their status at time of purchase.
Nowhere in the chart or the fine print does it say that the free EC for companions doesn't extend to KLM flights, but KLM is insisting on charging me to move my wife into EC with me (same PNR). I'm trying to do this through Twitter since KLM.com won't even let me assign a single EC seat for myself and calling from the US only gets me the DL line.

Has anyone figured out how to get KLM to give us this published benefit? I responded to their offer to bill me for the seats with the link I put in this post. I haven't heard back yet.

Edit: And KLM Twitter team finally responded and said, "The option for other passengers is only for transcontinental flights between JFK and LAX, SFO, or SEA.". I'm dumbfounded. The chart clearly talks about KLM flights, so how can it only apply to transcons which a non-US airline clearly cannot fly?

Do you have a DL PNR? If so, a Delta agent may be able to assign the right seats for you and your companion via the new EC hotline that another FTer reported: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...c-seating.html

Otherwise, you might not have luck with this since even Flying Blue elites do not get free EC for companions. See existing discussion here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/klm-f...-platinum.html and http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...y-comfort.html

Thanks for the links, especially the EC hotline. I missed that one. I booked through KLM because it was 50% of DL's price (is that how JVs work?), but I do have one DL segment which I'll use to get my DL PNR.

I knew KLM didn't allow free companions for their own elites, but based on my reading of that DL.com page it should be allowed for Medallions. If that's not the case DL needs to update the fine print on the page I linked stating so.

Does anyone have any EC experience in traveling on the 767v2, the one where EC starts in row 12 (and goes to 16)? I'm planning on taking a flight on one of these planes, but am curious as to whether row 12 is like row 13 on v1 of these planes (with extra legroom), or whether they are somehow restricted via bulkhead or door intrusion. I did look on seatguru, but as many of you know, it's often not accurate, so anyone with actual experience would be appreciated.
