Hi fellow FTers!
I'm working on updated for the new roll out of Comfort + (C+)
Thanks!

On March 1, 2015, DL rebranded Economy Comfort as "Comfort+."
Delta - Comfort+
dl.com: LINK
Comfort+ FAQ - LINK
Offering:
  • C+ is a complimentary upgrade (space available) for DM and PM after booking. GM can access for free at T-72 and FO at T-24. (There is no longer a discount for GM/FO.)
  • Sky Priority boarding
  • Extra legroom and, on international a/c, extra recline
  • Free wine, spirits and regional craft beers, plus premium snacks
  • Complimentary premium entertainment from Delta Studio™ (No longer relevant as of July 1st; Entertainment now complimentary in Y)
  • On JFK-LAX/SFO flights, a Luvo® sandwich wrap and frozen Greek yogurt bar, pillow, blanket, and sleep kit are included

A few general notes regarding DL C+:
  1. On international a/c, the bulkhead seats often have a significant amount leg room (other than the 764).
  2. The bulkhead and exit row seats are often narrower as the tray table and/or IFE unit are in the arm rests. The arm rests do not move which, coupled with a smaller seat, can be uncomfortable for larger pax.
  3. The first row of regular economy seating after EC IS NOT recommended. The last row of EC has the EC recline and members have reported that there's no extra space between this row and the first row of regular Y.
  4. Selecting C+ Seats - You cannot select or purchase C+ seats until after booking is completed on revenue or award tickets. The UG has to clear as well.
************************************************** ***********
Internationally Configured Aircraft
Per DL, International/transoceanic C+ offers 35" pitch and 6" recline. (LINK)

747-400 / 744 / 74S:
  • dl.com seat map: 747-400
    Rows 22-26 - 42 total C+ seats.
  • Legroom:
Row 22 ABC/HJK and 24 DEFG are the bulkhead seats. 22C/H are noted as having unlimited legroom and some have noted that people can congregate due to the proximity of the lavatories, which are located directly in front of the first row of C+ on the 744. 22ABC have recently received poor reviews because of the lav and galley - people tend to congregate in this area and it can become stinky. Comments on 22K indicate that pax can access the aisle without disturbing other passengers. Also, the lavatory near 22HJK is blocked for BusinessElite pax, so there tends to be fewer disturbances and become less smelly over the course of a long flight. Also, seats 22B and 22J can be used for bassinets.
Some might prefer the legroom of row 35/51 on the 744 with less recline and tray in armrest.

    Rows 31-34; 36 C+ seats
NOTE: As DL reduced the number of Business Elite seats on the 777s, rows 29-32 are now the C+ seats.
The C+/Economy seats on a/c has winged headrests.
  • Legroom:
Row 29/31 seats are the bulkhead seats and have plenty of leg room. Rows 30-32/32-34 are standard C+ seats with USB and plug power. Row 44 (exit row) has excellent legroom, but no power outlets. The window seat sin this row are narrower because the tray table is in the armrest does not move up. The recline is standard recline.
    IFE:
These a/c are equipped with IFE at each seat.

    C+ is rows 15-18
  • Legroom:
On the 764, the bulkhead seats (row 15) have less leg room than the 763's; there's probably about 2' or so between the edge of the seat and the wall. The bulkhead seats do not have moveable arm rests and the tray table/IFE monitor are in the arm rests. In my experience, I felt like the A332/333 and 763's had better recline in EC than the 764.
  • IFE:
These a/c are equipped with IFE at each seat.

Flying to Hawaii in C+:
- From DL's C+ page: 3-4" (7-10 cm) extra legroom/ Up to 50% more recline on select routes (JFK to/from SFO or LAX, and ATL/MSP/or JFK to/from HNL).

C+ and Priority Boarding/Baggage Allowance:
Passengers in C+ get Sky Priority boarding unless their elite status provides a higher boarding zonemu access. There is no additional baggage allowance unless elite status or fare class provide it.

Status Changes:
There have been a couple of questions regarding C+ when a member's status drops down after January 31. Typically, seats will hold unless there is an equipment change. If there's a change, the passenger(s) will most likely be seated in regular economy. There are reports of some success contacting @delta to get reseated in C+.

Just curious if anyone out there whose company has selected DL as their preferred carrier... have any corporate travel policies been adjusted only allowing employees to book comfort+ instead of business class on int'l flights? Was just curious. UA is rolling out these seats later this year, and I'm wondering what may be in store from the side of corporations.

I'm also concerned that upgrade certificates in economy class may (in the future) only upgrade into comfort+ / premium economy vs. a lie-flat seat in business class...... not sure what's happened in the DL world since these seats have been implemented. I'm just speculating, of course.

My company has Delta as one of our preferred carriers and and our travel policy has always been flights over 6 hours are comfort+, else economy. Only exec's get business.

15C-E on 76Z(v2)

Have not been able to find any comments on the C+ middle bulkhead aisles on a 76Z(v2) (15 C and E). Seat Guru says limited legroom, is the wall that close? Are the screens in the wall or are they pull outs?

Can someone please verify for me that on a 757-200 domestic plane, if 15ABC (first row of C+) is hard or soft bulkhead? I haven't been on one of those in a while, but pretty sure there is a wall between C+ and F, right? If so, I can always go with row 19 but hate being by the boarding door.

My recent flights on DL 752 domestics have all had soft divider between F and row 15. I believe that's the standard now.

No Wall Between F and C+ on 75D

There is no hard bulkhead between F and the rows of C+ between doors 1L/1R and 2L/R on Delta’s domestic-configured 757s, namely the 75D and the 75H with the 75H being the ETOPS ships. The video monitors in the first row of C+ on the 75D and 75H fold out from the armrest.

There is a hard bulkhead between D1, which takes up the entirety of the space between doors 1L/1R and 2/L/2R, and the first row of C+ on the 75S.

I’ve yet to fly on the 75G, but I’d suspect there is no hard bulkhead between the last row of F and the first row of C+ on these 5 ships.

My award ticket for family of 4 now has ability to upgrade to comfort plus from BOS-SFO nonstop on 757 for $105 or 10,000 miles one way. I read that starting April, 2019, comfort plus will no longer give out pillows, blankets and amenity kits on transcontinental routes. Wondering if still worth upgrading. My kids are 10 years old, so I generally get good leg room because I can infringe on their seats and leg room as I sit aisle when we fly. It is a 6.5 hour trip. We are currently row 40 in economy.

It all depends on how you value $105x4 or 10Kx4, I guess.

C+ will still get free adult beverages and enhanced snacks. You also get SKY boarding and will be off the plane in SFO a lot sooner in row ~15 than row 40.

So, I guess it's a question of how much you value those types of things versus $400 in your wallet. I'm assuming the $105 is per person, if it was for all 4 people combined I would definitely go for it.

I am currently PLAT with status expiring on 1/31 (going to silver)

If I book a flight now for after 1/31, will the instant upgrade to C+ process? And if it does, will my seat selection stick, or is DL smart enough to knock me out of my seat after 1/31 and reassign me back?

DL looks at your status at the time events occur. If there is availability at booking, you will get C+ since you are currently PM. If nothing changes that will cause you to be reseated (equipment change, etc) in theory you should keep the seat.

Comfort + Pricing And Who Is Buying?

So I noticed for a sub 2 hour flight about 2 months out from now when booking the cost was $180 EACH WAY to "upgrade" to Comfort +

Does DL really think a few "free" drinks, a snack basket, and a few inches of leg room is really worth that or are they just inflating the price?

If I was not getting the "upgrade" for free shortly after booking i certainly would not pay for it, but I am wondering on any given flight who is really paying that much extra to sit up there? (excluding PM's and DM's who get it for free after booking and FO and GM who get the upgrade near departure time) Has DL really found the ultimate marketing gimmick? Do people who dont fly often think its something more special? If you have no status on DL is the early boarding a big deal?

Since Amex hasn't provided me with the MQD waiver despite acknowledging that I spent over $26K on my Delta Amex last year, I'm only Gold right now. I might just book some C+ upgrades that I'd be getting for free if Amex did what they advertised, and then tell Amex to pay for them or explain its false advertising and failure to perform.
