Flew LHR to Zurich yesterday, Group 0 was called, various passengers, I assume Group 1s blocked the access pretending not to realise there was a Group above them. After about 5 seconds they called Group 1. Boarded 5th but I think only 1 other Group 0 was in front of me. On the way back this evening no Group 0 called and usual scrum to battle through even to get to the gate when they call Group 1.

Good announcement at DUB yesterday,
"As of the 26th of March, we have introduced a new boarding group, we would now like to invite group zero to board"

As a German, I am totally used to "Germany nil points" in that contest . Well-deserved, too.

When it comes to penalty shoot-outs in football, however...

I like the idea of Group 0 strikers being able to take penalty shots at DYKWIA group 1 defenders who are blocking the tensa entrance.

Bit of a fail at Innsbruck. Groups 0, 1, and 2 called at the same time. Maybe doesnt matter so much as we are getting bussed anyway.

the plane is literally next to the gate btw, but clearly the Austrian airport bus driver union is very strong here

😂 I hope your life hasn't really been that miserable!!

But I think the key thing here that makes this work is having a working gap between calling Group 0 and then calling Group 1. Even if it's only 30 seconds / one minute, there needs to be time to get to the desk. Otherwise as a Group 0, one needs to become a "gate louse" and I try very hard not to do that.

The standard tensa barrier is setup so that it would be impossible for group 0 to get past groups 1-3, wouldnt it? They usually call group 1 separately, but that never works as it is.

I think those in Group 0 are going to need sharp elbows, a forceful personality, a loud "Excuse me!" and gazelle-like speed, certainly at LHR (and it sounds in DUB too). To avoid this, I am going to continue with a discreet inquiry before boarding begins.
