Group 0 boarding for GGL
As first reported by Tobias-UK here and with the official update online found and reported by Always Somewhere Else here.
Group 0 boarding to commence for GGL and Premier status customers on limited LH routes:
This is similar to what AA offer to CK consistently on SH and LH and occasionally offer to BA GGLs too. No mention of whether CK travelling BA would be extended the same.
It also doesn't yet state whether the Group 0 will be GGL only or anyone on the booking (I assume the latter).
Tobias-UK has confirmed that BPs on the app will be updated to show GGL /group 0 status.

Good to see some kind of progress on GGL boarding (Prems already just introduce themselves at the gate and are let through to the seating area before boarding commences)
However, the real advantage in this will be on short haul flights. Hopefully, this comes soon. Maybe GVA or ZRH or FRA would be a good place to start, given the huge number of GCHs on those flight routinely
Some conflicting info above on how to identify yourself as a GGL. I really do not want to have to carry my plastic card and often the app seems to show me as a GCH rather than GGL (unless I refresh it about 20 times)

You will either have to waft your boarding card around with the group.0 prominently displayed or BA will have to make the GL on the membership card (and the luggage tags) a lot larger and less prone to rubbing off

”Once at the gate you will be asked to present your GGL membership card to the gate agent.” My point was simply that the official BA release does not admit the alternative that you describe.

The reason, however, I like the idea of this is that I take a lot of SH flights where Group 1 can be huge. 10 rows of CE plus another 20 GCHs in economy creates a Group 1 of 60 people. That is a big scrum at increasingly cramped gate areas.

For the trial, you'll be in Group 1 and show the card. The IT will presumably catch up if it's extended generally, but it'd be pointless to make a change and have to roll it back.
I'd still rather have an app that displays my bookings reliably. But there is a certain ineffable joy building at the prospect of moving in front of the GCH suits who have walked to the front of the queue assuming no-one other than themselves has priority.

I don’t know if BA’s strategy is as sophisticated as to take some benefits away from Golds and hand them to GGLs..

Presumably this now means all the people who gate check bags, or the group of four adults who board with a single child, will now have to be designated as group -1?

It's already happened imho with the reduction in food and drink quality in GF and AA deciding golds are platinum pro equivalent not exec platinum. And the reported really long waits on the gold telephone line that used to be instantly answered pre covid.

If true it’s desperate!
They can’t manage boarding today with 9 groups. It usually chaotic.
In any event group 0 already exists. It’s called excess hand baggage.
The interns have fully taken over the asylum!
