Same with BOS last night. No annoyance with the staff, but I'm not exactly holding my breath for the wider roll-out process. Personally it would be of most value on the short-haul European legs where the exit row means being on early, and getting bags stowed, adds a modicum of zen.

The other day, I tried a variant of this. As there has been a promised roll out of Group 0 at some point unspecified, at LHR last week I politely inquired - before boarding had commenced for a domestic - whether they would be boarding Group 0. No I was told. And that was the end of the conversation. An attempt to board Group 1 failed because the gate area was swamped. 30 seconds later they are boarding Groups 1-3.
Ive had a couple of long-term employees tell me youre GGL, you can preboard or board whenever you want, its the least we can do for as much as you fly - you should never stand in this long line and one noted his colleagues dont always know it. And then others tell you absolutely not.

As you note, this is not a sentiment that has been embraced by many of the front-line staff. I fear that it is likely to be a significant factor in the success or failure of Group 0 boarding when it is (finally) rolled out.

Boarding last week from T5 B gates - not a Group 0 destination, but a Prem in front of me asked if he could board before the 20 or so pax who were gate checking their bags and was unceremoniously told to wait. Honestly its so short of any kind of common sense or any kind of enhanced customer service, its madness -
especially as he had a smaller bag than many of those whod checked their bigger bag but still carried on a bigger bag than the prem - but they were ahead of him.

Please feed this back. If Waterside towers think its all going well, it will roll out as a complete mess. I have seen the premium team at a couple of gates watching Group 0 boarding over the last couple of weeks so maybe theyre getting the feedback that its not working.

The whole thing is just so utterly embarrassing.
As the old saying goes “either do it properly or don’t do it at all.”
I seriously wonder about the ability of an airline to implement complex safety and technical protocols when they can’t manage something as simple as sequentially numbered boarding groups.

Not sure if related but I had my BPs printed at EDI today and the long haul flight from LHR has GGL printed on it. I normally get this at LHR if I check in at TFW and havent checked in online beforehand. Today I had already checked in online but had a passport check and BPs printed at EDI (have had problems with the lounge doing passport checks recently, resulting in a queue at connections because it wasnt done correctly).
It makes me wonder if there are some changes behind the scenes to recognise who the GGLs are at outstations, although both of my BPs still say Group 1 (not trial routes).

so yes GGL is noted on exLHR flights (and exJFK). It doesn't matter where you have it printed tho, can be at the outstation or at LHR, it will still have GGL noted on it.

A little reminder of what ba.com says about Group 0 on the GGL pages.
Nowhere does it say that Group 0 will be boarding with preboarding, with those checking bags (and then removing tags and taking them on board anyway), with Group 1 or with any other Group.
I'll be interested to see whether it's officially meant to be before preboarding (as in LX HON) or after preboarding which in some airports could be behind dozens of others.

I'd have to disagree with this- I do EU-LHR-USA twice a month and haven't seen GGL on any boarding pass...

Certainly it would seem that it has nothing to do with the (no doubt, ha ha) imminent Group 0 roll-out!
