I used Limores last weekend from Wall St to EWR and was very happy. I waited til a few hours before I needed to leave to make a reservation, which was apparently a mistake. Many other highly rated (on Yelp) car services had no cars, so I tried Limores via their website. I got an automated phone call when the car was dispatched (maybe 45 min before scheduled pickup) and a call when the car arrived. I actually saw the guy pull up and my phone rang.

I'll be trying them again tomorrow and, if all is well, it'll be a weekly thing.

The car I got was very nice.

Thumbs up EliteNY

I used Elite, www.eliteny.com for airport transfer JFK into midtown NYC & have to say it was the best airport service I have experienced in last 10 years, especially for the $$ spent. Car was new, spotless, with on-time, courteous, good driver. Flat rate was $73 + taxes, tolls & tip. Signed up & booked on-line. Received instant booking confirmation & phone service/calls later were answered quickly, with swift resolve.

Had a few special issues:
1) both to/from were during commuter rush hours (am in, pm out) and ride was comfortable & driver knew & used alternate routes when able.
2) we had 2 passengers, both at same time but different p/u & drop off airport terminals - no problems & no extra charge.
3) left an item in car & it was found & is being returned.

All in all, very pleased with this new (to me) car service for NYC area & will definitely be using them again!

Post Gogo Inflight whitelists Limores

Ran across this RunwayGirl story and thought it might be of interest:

http://www.flightglobal.com/articles...sting-car.html

Aircell has partnered with GroundLink to enable passengers to book ground transportation while in-flight without paying for a session of Aircell's Gogo in-flight Internet.

The so-called 'Wi-Fi and Drive' package, available on all aircraft equipped with Gogo, is part of Chicago-headquartered Aircell's larger plan to monetise its web portal to create new revenue opportunities.

Need advice on a Limo.

I need to go from JFK to Midtown.

It's 2 people, 6x 70lbs suitcases and 4 carry-ons.

Therefore, I need an SUV or Minivan.

Right now I have a rate of $125 all-in (Gratuity, Tolls, Parking, Tax, etc).

Fair price? Any suggestions?

Thanks

$125 is a pretty good price but I would imagine that you will need to add tolls ($4.65) and tip (15-20%) so be prepared to pay north of $150.

The very reliable company that I use would be about $20 more than that so go for the $125.

As I stated, it's all-in, including tolls and tip.

Agreed - even the lowest-price services (like Carmel) will be $150 plus tolls and tip with that much luggage (6x70lbs and 4 carry-ons? holy cannolli!).

With excess & overweight baggage fees on top of that, FedEx or UPS might be cheaper.

No extra baggage fees for me. 2x Delta BE tickets = 6x 70lbs bags and 2 carry-ons and 2 personal items for free

JFK to Manhattan, Limo recommendations

Hi all.

I have done a search and this question does not seem to have been posed, that I can find.

Mrs Noiseboy and I are coming, in Dec, to NY and prefer to do a limo xfer.

Can anyone recommend any companies and also ones to avoid.

I am aware that this not the cheapest option, but is the one I prefer.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Do you really want a limo or just a proper town car? The two are often interchanged here and the answers are very different depending on which you mean.

Hi sbm12

It is just a private hire car, definately not a stretch, find them so darned uncomfortable.

Something like a Lincoln Town car?

Off to bed now, will check in tomorrow.

Thanks Jerry, the information I am more interested in is recommendations (or not) of companies.

It is difficult just looking at websites to work out who is good or not (they all say they are excellent!) and wish to try to avoid a dispute, should one arise, across the "Pond".

Has anyone used or heard of "Supershuttle ExecuCar ". They seem to be the company that Expedia use, but I cannot access them until paying for the trip! ....Update, found them on Internet, anyone used them or know of them, please?

NB

Did you read the links provided? Most of the posts in the car service thread are recommendations both for and against car service providers with reasons provided.

I agree. That's why the links provided to you can be quite helpful.

Nope, never used them. I figured you'd be able to find them on line. I just did thanks to google.
