Here are some of the more-frequently mentioned car service and limousine companies discussed in this thread. This is not a comprehensive list. Companies are grouped into general categories, and note that additional surcharges may apply at certain times and locations. Car services and limousines are required to operate by reservation and are prohibited from accepting street hails, but may attempt to do so.

I think I just made a HUGE mistake! Not using Limores again. Actually, I didn't even really use them the first time since no one would pick up the phone. I flew into EWR from SFO on Thursday night and wound up getting in around 130am. I spoke with Limores while at SFO and told them my flight was delayed. The woman told me to just call their number when I arrived at EWR and they'll have a car waiting for me. In theory, that sounds fantastic. In reality? Not so much. I believe I started at #8 in the queue and listened for TWENTY-FIVE MINUTES. I eventually took a screen grab of my hold time with them and hung up at 2am or so (after I got my bags in baggage claim 15 minutes prior) and was #2 in the queue. I caught a cab into Manhattan and the rage began to subside.
Keith, can you add a couple more dispatchers so you don't keep customers on hold for half an hour just to get a pick up? I also prepaid that trip so I'll have to dispute that with Chase.
Very, very unhappy with Limores and wouldn't recommend them to anyone based on my experience.

Regardless of that fact, I'm sorry we were unable to provide you with our usual level of service or the service you expected that evening. Please email me at keith at limores dot com with your confirmation number and I will be happy to credit you the full amount of the reservation and I will give you a discount on your next ride with us. I promise you that your experience was far from usual and I hope you will give us another chance.

Hi all,
Just read through all 7 pages of the thread, and still a little puzzled on what my partner and I should do when going to/from airports. Would be great if you guys could give us some more advice!
We need to:
1. Get to Grand Hyatt NY from JFK, 2 pieces of heavy luggage, time of day: 1600. It seems many people recommend taxi for this. I was not able to find the flat fare for taxi... What would it be including tip and tolls?
2. Get to LGA from Grand Hyatt NY, time of day: arriving 0700 (?, not sure how far in advance we need to be at the airport for US domestic flights), departing 0759. It seems consensus is for a car service, like dial 7?
3. Get to Grand Hyatt NY from LGA, time of day: 2135. Consensus for this seems to be a taxi. Is there a flat fee for this route?
4. Get to LGA from Grand Hyatt NY, 2 pieces of heavy luggage, time of day, departure 1100. I assume this is near peak hour. What would be the best choice for this?
Thanks so much everyone!

Blumie, that information will save us a million. Thanks so much and greatly appreciated.
Are there any problems with NY taxis doing a run around to pad the meters? And do any taxis take credit cards?

The only reason I'd take a taxi at 1600 is because of the luggage. Otherwise the trains will likely be much faster.

Not sure I agree with that. Taking a train to the Hyatt involves at least two transfers (AirTrain to E to 6, for example), and probably at least 75-90 minutes of total travel time. Certainly a taxi could take that long (or longer), but it also could take a fair bit less time.

Reliable shuttle from EWR to JFK
Two of us (me and wifey) need to get to JFK from EWR (I'll be staying at Raritan, NJ) on Friday, 23 July to catch an international flight departing JFK at 5 pm. I have been told that I must get to Newark for this. I have two questions:
1) Which is a reliable and good value for money shuttle which will get me from Newark to JFK? (or is train better - we do have three check in bags + two hand bags)
2) What should be a safe time for departure from Newark, keeping in view my international flight departure at 5 pm?
Many thanks for your attention.

There is no EWR <—> JFK airport shuttle. It sounds like you've got a LOT of luggage. There is just no easy answer.
I see you're from India so I'm not sure if you'll want to rent a car one way to JFK. That might be a nightmare for you. Hello Belt Parkway.
You could call the car services mentioned in this forum and price a trip to JFK.
You could take the bus...rather two of them. Check this out: http://www.nyairportservice.com/page.php?id=30 Just change buses with all of your luggage, of course, to a bus to JFK.

If you want to take trains and you're starting in Raritan, NJ, I'd skip EWR since it costs more to take the train from EWR. You could take the train from Raritan to New York Penn Station (with a change of trains at Newark Penn Station), or you could get someone to drive you over to a Northeast Corridor train station (I think New Brunswick would be closest, although Rahway will have more trains) for a direct train to NY Penn. From NY Penn Station, you'd take the LIRR to Jamaica and get the AirTrain to JFK. But that's a lot of changes to make with multiple suitcases.

Taxi rates from Newark to JFK
A one-way taxi ride from EWR to JFK would cost a hundred dollars, including tips. That seems like the only plausible way, as changing trains with luggage might be a bit much.
I was suggested another option - a Marriot North Brunswick to JFK shuttle. Does anyone know anything about it?

I don't think there is a Marriott in North Brunswick. There is a Hilton in East Brunswick, though, where the Airporter (same shuttle I linked to above for EWR-JFK transfers) picks up for $49/per person (for the first two). Note the Airporter also offers a shared van service that may be able to pick you up directly in Raritan for about the same price (although I think Raritan is in Somerset county, which isn't listed on the Airporter's page). I'd call them to inquire as that may be your best bet.
