From what I gather, this could be a dual brand Hyatt Place/Hyatt House with 331 rooms.



The building will have 14 floors:
- Ground floor: lobby and restaurant/bar
- Mezzanine: meeting rooms and gym
- 1st - 8th floor: short stay (HP)
- 9th - 12th floor: long stay (HH)

HC Melbourne and HP Melbourne Caribbean Park are now showing up in searches on the Hyatt site. HP has a site and lists expected opening of Q4 2021. HC redirects to null.hyatt.com, so might be up prematurely.

A random thought that I didn’t know where else to place, so I’m dropping it here: with the upcoming disaster that is the splitting of Radisson’s loyalty program and hospitality divisions, the devaluation of their points currency and the resulting anger of many bloggers and their guests, I hope that this decision causes Radisson to implode and Hyatt swoops in to acquire them. They’re no prize, mind, and I genuinely wonder how this business decision will work out for them in the immediate to long term. Hopefully a scenario plays out in which Hyatt can buy them up and shutter each of their brands one-by-one while integrating their hotels under Hyatt’s various current brands - and giving themselves a 630+ property boost in the US alone. If they were to acquire the whole company, well - that’d more than double Hyatt’s current size and put a lumbering old brand out to pasture.

Ah, to dream.

The portfolio in the Americas wouldn't work outside of a few markets (Minnesota, Anaheim, perhaps NYC), as in many markets Radisson is a flag of last resort for shabby hotels with delinquent owners. The Country Inn and Suites portfolio may be the one bright spot, though. In Europe, though, indeed, it would be a true coup. (Perhaps Africa as well.)

Okay, here's what I found out. Essentially the plan was for tommie Austin to be the only tommie and be flagged under JDV by Hyatt. From whaat a few people at Hyatt told me (and there appears to be plenty of confusion internally) the tommie West Hollywood was going to be flagged a Caption but by the time those conversations started taking place to make the change, the project was already too far along design wise and it didn't make sense for it to open as a Caption. So it is going to open as a tommie and again, will be flagged under the JDV by Hyatt brand.

Park Hyatt Changsha, Hunan, China shows up on Hyatt's pipeline. The location seems to be the same with Niccolo Changsha, on top of Changsha IFS T1 (the taller tower in this photo below)

I found the Facebook page for the previously-mentioned Grand Hyatt Residences Kuwait today, so that bodes well for this property coming to life. Sent them a message asking if they'll be marketed as a separate property, will be WoH-participating and when they plan to open; will post updates here if/when I hear back from them.

1) Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center: 286 rooms, opening Aug 18, 2021

Rebranded from The Coralville Marriott Hotel & Conference Center, following the change of management company. Reported here.

This will be the first full-service Hyatt in Iowa. Currently, there're 2 regular looking HPs in West Des Moines & Altoona, 1 HP in a historic building in Des Moines downtown and 1 sleek new-build HP in Iowa City downtown.

2) Hyatt Regency Conroe Grand Central Park Hotel & Conference Center: 250 rooms, Nov 2022

As reported here, the hotel & conference center in Conroe's Grand Central Park will be a Hyatt. Judging from the size and facility, it would most possibly be a Regency.

Edit to confirm this hotel will be a Hyatt Regency:


The hotel will include a 15,000-square-foot ballroom, a convention center, lounge and bar, outdoor dining, a restaurant, a pool and a fitness center, and is expected to open in early 2023. The estimated maximum total cost for the project is $98 million.

According to previous reporting from Community Impact Newspaper, the city would own the property and lease it to the hotel operator.

This is the third ultra-luxury resort project in Riviera Maya that includes 4 brands in the compound, 1 of which is a Hyatt. The other 2 are:

1. Mayakoba (completed), includes of Rosewood, Andaz, Fairmont, and Banyan Tree
2. Kanai (under construction):

• Auberge, St. Regis, Edition - nee W Retreat are nearly complete
• Park Hyatt plot is still a swamp
