Just announced, a 2nd Hyatt in Kuwait to open in January 2019 after renovations
CHICAGO (November 19, 2018) – Hyatt announced today that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with a Tamdeen Group subsidiary for Hyatt Regency Al Kout Mall, which will reintroduce the Hyatt Regency brand into Kuwait, and further build Hyatt’s growing portfolio in the Middle East. The announcement marks the second collaboration between Hyatt and Tamdeem Group, following the Grand Hyatt Kuwait, set to open in 2020. Hyatt Regency Al Kout Mall is currently undergoing a major renovation and is set to debut in January 2019.

The property will be an integral part of the multifaceted Al Kout Development, Kuwait’s largest waterfront, retail and leisure destination that offers world-class retail, lifestyle, dining, entertainment and leisure experiences in one destination. The new Hyatt Regency Al Kout Mall will connect guests to the development’s additional offerings including: Al Kout Mall, Souq Al Kout, Al Kout Marina, Al Kout Fisherman’s Wharf, and Al Kout seaside promenade, all within convenient reach of Kuwait International Airport.

This will be a rebrand of the existing Al Manshar Rotana - didn’t know it was under going a renovation. That hotel was built as part what was the Al Manshar Mall, which was torn down a few years ago and replaced with the new Al Kout Mall that opened last year. There were plans to rename the hotel the Al Kout Rotana, but good that the owning company is pairing with a bigger brand [the same company is opening the Grand Hyatt in another mall development in April 2020].

Just called the hotel to inquire about the progress of their renovations. The lobby and restaurant have been redone and the new ballroom added, but the rooms renovation is only two floors in and the first rooms will be handed over for occupancy next month. I'll pass by in the first week of November to get some photos of the new rooms and old ones for comparison's sake, as well as some general property photos since the website still strangely has nothing up nearly eleven months into the hotel being open.
